Return to Castle Wolfenstein - it was fun. One step - quicksave. Got hit - quickload. :D

When I can, I let autosave take care of business.

When I can't, once an hour or after completing something that I really don't wanna do again.

I rely on autosaves and quick saves. A lot.

I think my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2 had maybe 8 saves.

In games that have things like Save Points or Save Crystals, I tend to save whenever I run across them, just out of habbit from the early days. "Save Anywhere" games like FPS/RTS I usually tend to just quicksave at places that look or sound hazardous. Otherwise it's "Start last Mission/Level" over time.

400 and counting.

Why do I feel like a carebear now?

Well, I was only playing on the Normal setting, so... not like there were too many "oh shit oh shit oh shit!" fights. Except Praetorians. Hate those goddamn things.

It was normal mode for me as well. I guess I'm just a bit too keen to save sometimes... Though better safe than sorry.

I save on several occasions:

1.Before and after particularly difficult fights
2.When I get tired in general
3.After I heal up after returning to a "homebase area"
4.After I buy shit
5.When the game starts freaking out from technical issues.

Of course when I get the saving...do not turn off the power message during any sort of rain induced weather the power goes out. Corrupted data. It has happened to me three times already. (Pokemon 3rd gen, Batman: Arkham Asylum, an NBA game.)

In RPG games I save a lot, especially in games like Mass Effect because different actions have different consequences, but on FPS games or anything else I rarely save, never remember to until I die in the same spot more than once.

I usually forget, but if I know I'm about to attempt something difficult (or stupid) I save like a maniac.

if the game has freezing problems i do , just in case i save alot
if it is a hard part of the game , auto save is used alot
but what really bugs me is after button pushing 4 times to get to the save point ,they ask are you sure you want to save ... yes , i wouldn't go though all that bs just to say no ... that question drives me quackers

I save often, but mostly because I don't trust my 360 to not RRoD. Before my first RRoD I hardly ever saved. I got right through MGS quite a few times without a save, and got lampshaded for it.

Due to an incident of not saving whilst playing Rome: Total War only to have the game crash on me and pretty much erase my entire progress I vowed to save every half an hour. Better save than sorry is what I always say.

I save any chance I get. Before I enter a room, after I clear a room, before I talk to someone, and before an obvious trap/boss. And I must say, it works wonders for me.

I save whenever I remember to. As you can imagine, this leads to quite a few treks through areas I cleared before because I didn't realize That One Boss [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThatOneBoss] was waiting up ahead :(

Truth. Most of the time if there are checkpoint saves, only when I go to turn of the console to make doubly sure.

With games like Splinter Cell/ MGS I save everytime I get through a part of the mission without cocking up.

I save even when I haven't done anything save worthy. I got a horrible memory so I always save just incase I may have forgotten to.
found ya, tag 2-3-10

OT: usually depends on how bad i don't want to do something over again, recent example: bioshock

-SPOILER WARNING- (sorry don't know how to put the spoiler thingy up)

when you have to become a big daddy, finding all pieces can be an annoying time consuming sonofabitch, i save after i get a piece always
oh and in arcadia, there's soo much backtracking in that game

or in Resident Evil (the older ones) i always save before a boss fight, if i don't remember whats in the next room, or if i feel i'm about to be gangraped by zombies

so yea, for me it all depends on what's coming up, or if i really don't feel like doing something again.
