Say something nice about the Star Wars Prequel. If you can.

I definitly think watch anakins rise onto the hero's journey and inevetible fall from it was well done, yes he is a whiny um female dog. But it was still well done, the slow corruption of episode 2 through to the full blown imma mess everyone up for what i want of ep 3 was just well done.

As much as I hate him the evolution of Jar Jar is also interesting starting off as in essence an annoying childlike character and then watching his rise and growth to being something much more adult.

Finally emporer palpatine and how he uses the laws of the republic to become the emporer.

EDIT: oh and of course Yoda flipping out like a ninja in every lightsaber fight scene he is in.
The scene where Palpatine announces the Galactic Empire to the Senate is one of the worst things.....he's telling everyone that the Jedi (an order than has kept the peace for 1000 generations) has decided to take over the world for no reason; and never mind the fact than I'm wearing an evil black cloak and sound like a monster that wants to take over the world: I'm concentrating all the power into my hands...but you see it's the Jedi that are evil, we exterminated them because they deserved it. Why? Nevermind, just trust me xD
And they all accept it without questions, WHAT???

...stupid plot, in all 3 movies. If you value them as action movies for droolers, fine. But I just don't like any of the characters, they are as fake as the green screen world they are projected against...well except for the Emperor, despite all the flaws he's the only guy in the trilogy with some kind of passion.

EDIT: can please someone explain to me why Boba and Jango Fett are so loved? Boba appers for like 20 minutes in the Originals, and dies like a punk. Jango is just some guy that's in the movies only because some fanboys liked Boba.....is it because the armor is cool? Because it sold alot of action figures and videogames? They don't say anything interesting and just fight a couple of times, why are they important?

Duel of the Fates, both the fight and the music. That was truly glorious.

I'll also admit I was partial to Yoda fighting. Too bad none of his fights ever really amounted to much.

Other than that, can't say I hate the movies, but they definitely feel more hollow than the original trilogy.

I was actually meaning how he plays both sides to grant himself power. I agree that the senate going along with his plans for no real reason is rather stupid.

Most of the lightsaber fights. Episodes 4-6 just had 'old man stumbling after kids with his cane' syndrome. I couldn't understand how they could move their lightsabers fast enough to deflect lasers, but ridiculously slow when actually in combat. At least the Jedi in the prequels actually felt like a force to be reckoned with.

Oh, and Jango Fett was pretty cool, and didn't die like a wuss.
I have to disagree: the duels in the Originals have meaning, it's less about the Lightsaber and more about the personal reasons of the people fighting. Also, they feel more real: why would someone fight like a choreographed dancer in real life?

What's happening between Darth Maul Obi and Jin? Nothing, they don't know each other, they just fight because one is dark and evil and the others are light and good.
Same thing with Dooku, we know nothing about him, and Anaking is utterly unlikable, why should I care about their duel? The only battle with significance is Anakin vs Obi.....but it ended in a really stupid way, "I have the high ground" lol

Yoda kicking ass was a great thing to see. The lightsaber battles were awesome and so was the music. Christopher Lee is always cool.
The parallels between the characters and certain scenes and old horror movies was a deliciously nerdy thing. Count Dooku, played by Christopher Lee, is suspiciously similar to his portrayal of Count Dracula. Darth Vader breaking out of the operating table looks quite a bit like the stiff hulking of Frankenstein's monster when he was first re-animated. Nice touch, Lucas.

There were some really neat screen shots in Episode 1. There's one where the camera pans across the view of the city and there's so much detail to take in you can't see it all with just one pass.

I'm glad you think that was a nice touch. Darth Vader hulking in that awkward way felt way too ridicolous for me.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Well it did spawn a few Boba Fett characters (I.E- Characters who appear for a short amount of time yet are completely badass). Examples go to General Grievous, Count Dooku and Darth Maul. And despite being a bit flashy and overusing the special effects a bit I will admit that the fight scenes (and the musical score that accompanied them) were awesome.

I liked them but the best thing in any Star Wars film ever is that in the credits of The Phantom Menace, Jabba the Hutt is credited as himself. I have no idea why, but this made me laugh a lot.

Lets be honest the first three weren't really all that great in comparison. The only reason you were disappointed is because the story didn't catch up with the times. The prequel films were good by everyone's standards but the fan boys. I'm not saying they were the greatest of all time, but I'm saying look at the old movies and tell me of one stellar performance besides Harrison Ford. Tell me one of those actors that had a future in acting after that. Yes I know Mark Hamill did the Wing Commander games and the voice of the Joker, but I mean acting in a film. No one. They were spectacles of the film industry at the end of the 70's and the prequel films gave you exactly what you wanted, the same thing but with modern special effects. Oh wait but then we discovered that maybe the originals weren't all that great either so now you're pouring all your hate into something that did exactly what you asked for : light sabers, Jedi, galactic struggle, and horrible acting. Hate on haters, hate on.

I only saw stars wars completely like 2 years ago (watched 1-6 in that order, never saw a full movie only clips before). I don't understand the hate with the movies (though yes I agree Jar is annoying), but in accordance with the thread I liked the way Yoda was animated in movies 2 and 3 specifically over the old ones. Also the fight scenes were better.

I like the way Red Letter Media deconstructed the work, especially when they showed the filmmakers' own shocked reactions to seeing how their finished work failed their own expectations.
They kinda took that scene out of of context.
? Can you put some details on that? I don't know where it's from.

And although I love his reviews, they are far from perfect.
Agreed, but his analysis is very good and informative. (*edited out the comment about the Lucas preview b/c of the above).

What I don't like about them is some of the Plinkett humor. I thought my sister (a smart girl + sci-fi / fantasy fan + horror fan) would get a kick out of the reviews, so I grabbed the latest one (Crystal Skull, which I hadn't seen) and showed her. Aaaand then he went to the Olsen twins bit, which is so beyond wrong words don't describe it.

If those come out on DVD, I'd like to see about fanediting them to cut out the harsh humor scenes. They'd be fantastic (and educational) for the older teenager crowd and up.

I think complaints aimed at Christensen are primarily misdirected complaints that should be for the writing.
Oh god this. There is no conceivable situation in which any actor can make "From my point of view the Jedi are evil!" work. He did the best he could with what he had but every other line he was given was just bad; blame the writers.

Also I just want to add that Vader's poorly done "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" was no worse than Luke's poorly done "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
And direction. Don't forget that actors only do what they are told to do, and the director approves every last bit of EVERYTHING that you see and hear.

Writing and direction killed the experience of the movies for me. Sure, I liked the pew-pew and voom-voom, but the movies were just painfully stupid to watch.

The music. All the humour that came from the hatred of the movies. The Emperor was pretty funny.

I've read others saying how the Lightsaber fights were cool. Normally I'd just say I disagree, but you are wrong. Sorry but, no. They're self indulgent, pointless, over-choreographed.

Sam Jackson was cool in this? What movie were you watching? You could've cast a slice of bread as Mass Window and get an equally good performance. And that's not a stab at Sam Jackson, he's a great actor, but that character...nothing could save that.

And off I go into hate again, I'll just stop.
If you want some relief from the teeth-grinding, check out the book Shatterpoint. It's the definitive Mace Windu story and a pretty good read, and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like SW books.

Who ever knew that Aunt Beru was such a looker back in the day? I watched the movies in order and I was thinking to myself "damn girl, you really let yourself go..."

The locales were STUNNING!

SHAFT with a lightsaber!

SCARAMANGA with a lightsaber!

Inspired KOTOR and Battlefront!

Um, it gave an answer for what the "clone wars" were that were mentioned in the real SW series.
You see, i know many people (like my dad etc) who watched the original when they were kids, and even they said that back then, they wanted to know what the "Clone Wars" were, so i agree with this, at least they showed what it was about.

The Visual Effect are stunning, some of the best CGI out there, even by today's standards. Episode 3's space battle is still one of my favourite scenes from any film (but then again i am a sucker for space battles, and you don't see a lot of them in films.)

I thought the Characterization (for most part) was pretty good, i actually don't mind Hayden Christan playing Anakin, sure he seems constantly in a mood, but that's the kinda the point of his character...Jar Jar is a different story, but i let him slide because as a kid he made me laugh xD

The jokes are bad, but hey, there are FAR WORSE out there (see Revenge of the Fallen, Mudflap and Skids *shudders*)

To be honest, i don;t see why they get so much hate, how can 3 films make people so angry? If you don;t like simply ignore them.

"The whole idea of the battle droids were lame and and detracted from the movies as a whole. Why wouldn't the Empire use battle droids in the Original Triology. [Long continuous fanboy rage about how George Lucas is ruining Star Wars]".
Just for the laughs I imagine that the Empire would never be able to hold the power if they would rely on battle droids, the only thing even more incompetent than the Stormtroopers from the original movies! :D

This is actually a big plus on the side of the prequels: The clone troopers seem to be competent, even competent enough to wipe out most of the jedi. The original Stormtroopers got defeated by teddy bears with stones and sticks!
The Clone Troopers are competent, but they are on "our side" almost the entire time, and only turn "evil" in time to deliver the doom we are all expecting, based on what we know of the Original Trilogy. No, basically nothing has changed, the Original Stormtroopers fill the same role of the Battle Droids, useless enemies (only the Battle Droids never met the Ewoks).....that really kills the tension.

That and the fact that the battles involve Droids and Clones.....they are not real people, no1 is going to mourn then when they die, so why should I care about the battle sequences? Couldn't Stormtroopers just be normal people enrolled in the army? The whole Clones subplot has no importance anyway, so they might have just skipped it.
Ahh But the Storm Troopers we know, actually aren't clones, if we go by What Battlefront 2 tells us.

Sometime later the Clones pretty much become replaced with trained troops from other worlds.

When people first started saying that, i kept watching the films but couldn't hear where it was said

I then realised i misunderstood the Emperor, I heard: "I'M BREATHING AGAIN! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!" When in fact he said Unlimited Power :')

It actually took me a few months before i realised :$

two of them were good.

Episode two is let down by poor storytelling, awful acting, and unconvincing effects.

Episode three has some down moments (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, etc) but really is about as good a film as the orignals.

Episode one had a crappy child actor (jake lloyd) and natalie portman was still pre-talent (yes, face it, shes a good actress now. I still dont like her, but credit where its due) but otherwise the movie is solid. Excellent effects, and a soft story to set up the action.

THE STAR WARS FILMS ARE (with the possible exception of episode five) TERRIBLE MOVIES. They are only as good as their effects and whether you are willing to accept what happens on screen as entertainment.

I'm sick of people saying that the prequels suck, because they really dont, except episode two.
Yes, jarjar and the ewoks are stupid, but they work in the setting.

And this bullshit about jarjar being racist is plain idiocy. Why, because of that stupid "meesa, yoosa, weesa" crap? what black people do you think talk like that? Maybe you're trying to say it sounds like "yessah massa" and other blackface-era negroisms? it doesnt. It sounds like a stupid way to make the character sound non-human.

The only legitimate complaint anyone can register against the prequels is that they aren't as imaginative as the originals, but even then, bugfuck crazy lucas was already imagining his ridiculous cartoon world in the seventies, he just didn't know how to make it.
