The cherubs in doom 3 scared me. Mainly because they sound like little children then when you find the source of the noise there is three or four of them. I wasn't expecting it the first time so perhaps thats why i don't like them.

Not so much an enemy, more a couple scenes from the first Silent Hill. The first consists of a wheelchair in an alleyway with one wheel still spinning, that was eery. The second is when you're caught in another alleyway with chain link fence along the sides, some sort of dream world I think it was, and more and more gore and blood is stuck along the fences until you see a mutilated corpse on a hospital stretcher and a skeleton with flayed bits of flesh stuck to it hung from the locked gate at one end, then all of a sudden the alley's full of these little... things with knives that gang up on you, and you're trying to run but both ends are a dead end and you can't attack and OHMY GODI'MGONNADIE!

I never finished that game.

Crimson Heads from Resi 1 as id Zombies weren't scary enough Capcom gives them more health, more damage AND make them run really fast at you.

The Hunters as well from Resi 1 mainly because they could break down meaning there literally was no escaping them.

Also the un-killable ghosts from SH:4, When the guy starts holding his head and the screen goes all red and fuzzy you know its time to abandon all hope and run for the door.

Pyramid Head was a complete mindfuck. I still remember playing that game in the dark with earphones in, totally immersed in the game and running through the apartment block when bam, Pyramid Head is standing right there looking at you behind a gate. Thank God he doesn't attack in that bit of the game because if he did I would have been done for, I don't think I moved for about 30 seconds.

The Dentist in Bioshock and the dogs in the very first Resi were both brilliant "jump out of your skin" moments too.

Giant spiders. Dear god do I hate them with a passion. They come out of nowhere and attack you in a web and they just plain look creepy.

This was actually my first post but I revised it and added on to it.

Don't laugh at me for this one but Ultimecia from Final Fantasy VIII. I think what scared me the most was that she had 4 different forms and if one of your characters died they were "absorbed into time and space" (in other words you lost the character and all of their abilities) and the fact that you couldn't use your strongest attacks (your GF's), not to mention that when you got to the second form, he/she started to drain all of your magic away and inflict just about every kind of status abnormality possible. Keeping in mind, for those who have actually played the game, you need your magic for the junctioning system (sets your health, strength, ext.) what really worried me was in her final form she had an attack that took you down to 1 hp.

*P.S.
As a tip to people who want to play this game or are currently playing it. At the end, do NOT and I repeat DO NOT SPACE OUT YOUR GF's. That will be the death of you. And the Recover ability is your friend.

Fast Zombies in HL2 when you first encouter them the fact you see 3 of them run across the roof top making that howling noise, then it goes quite and suddenly there is that quite grunting of one runing towards ya and your like "OH SH-!"

And when you first encounter an alien in the original AvP, man that is scary.

Bioshocks Splicers at 4 in the morning when its raining outside. That was f*****g terrifying.

Also, there was something a bit unnerving about the travelling merchant in RE4, he wasnt scary as such, more of a eerie curiosity.

Oh, and your mate coming around the corner on the Timesplitters: Future Perfect "Hotel" when you have radar, auto-aiming and crosshairs turned off.

Not fun.

The Verdugo from RE4. You KNOW he's got good loot on him, but the best you can do is freeze him for a bit before taking off. Really makes waiting for an elevator more agonizing than usual.

...Then you beat the game a couple times and unlock the Chicago Typewriter and suddenly the Alien-wannabe is now the one running and waiting for the elevator is now just like waiting for a real elevator minus the semi-creepy businessmen.

At first the Regenerators were kinda scary when you initially hear the breathing, you're low on ammo and either didn't find or accidentally sold the infrared scope, but by the time you're in that underground jail, its just "Yeah, keep walking into those bars while I reload."
