Scariest Gaming Moments

I can only recall 2 moments where i've actually been scared by a game.

First one was when i was 9, playing Ocarina of Time, after you've found the Master Sword and went forward in time into adulthood, going out into the marketplace and finding those god damn zombies walking around, they scared the shit out of me, the noises they make are really creepy as well.

Second one was back when Doom 3 had just been released, and i played it in a completely dark room with the newest brand of headset (with vibrations), having almost surroundsound and sitting in a dark room was a bad combination for the first playthrough, i only played for about an hour but that scared the crap out of me.

When I was a kid, the one that scared me the most was in Resi 2, when your in the police station and your going through the library. You walking through and the camera changes just in time to see a licker crawl outside the window. scared me enough to stop playing.

F.E.A.R 1 or F.E.A.R 2

I don't really have a specific moment but there were a few.

I didn't get any scare out of RE4 and 5 though. Just another FUCK sake, stupid infecteds all over the place with no ammo.

You're walking down a long corridor and the lights go off and some fucked up music begins to play, all the locker doors start thrasing around, the lights flicker relentlessley and you can see blood EVERYWHERE, on top of that there's ghosts jumping your ass at various intervals, once you reach the end of that horrible corridor there are some double-doors just slamming open and closed, then everything just STOPS. Silence.

I gotta go lie down.

Silent Hill 2. The whole game was a scary moment...

And Ravenholm in Half Life 2. I screamed like a little girl when I first saw the black Headcrabs.

I found the Regenerators in Resident Evil 4 scary as [i/] hell [/i]. Especially the spiky ones. Even when you found out how to kill them, you never had enough rifle rounds to finish them.

Also, in Fire Warrior for PS2, every goddam time a Chaos Marine teleports right in front of you and starts firing. The horrible wheezing noise their bolters made... *shudders*

 

[CRAVE CASE 55]

On Fallout 3 my first trip into Vault 106 to get the Bobblehead when all of a sudden i go down a staircase into the science lab area when im atacked by a insane surviver ok no big deal all of a sudden the lights go out and at this point in the game my dad is already dead. Down the hall i see someone in a lab coat walk across i go into vats and it says dad im at home by myself and its pitch black except for the tv so i ran like hell and dident go back until i was in a party with all my friends for moral support.

Harvest Moon. Yup. I was playing for like 9 hours straight, i'd got married had a kid played like 3 years of game time....and then my battery died and i'd forgoten to save!

I kid...

Only thing that really jumps to mind was Dead Space. Not the game content as much, but i'd be creeping around waiting for something to jump at me....and my phone goes off! Doesn't sound big, but it was loud DragonForce. Made me jump every time =P. It was usually the same guy too.... it also happened with Fallout 3. That's what i get for playing video games all night and sleeping through the day.....

I think the scariest part of Dead Space was when you're in the medical ward or infirmary or whatever they called it being chased by that bigass invincible necromorph.

Nemesis jumping through the police station window in Resi 3.

I second this. I always know its coming and it still gets me and i always scream like a girl.

Also condemmed where your in the house near the end.

Probably the scariest and funniest moments in gaming happen during Left 4 Dead.

Example, I was trying to lead the pack and I turned the corner and there was a smoker and a boomer right there. I almost pissed my pants.

Also once on Dead Air chapter 2 with the crane, 2 stayed behind the fence and me and a friend went ahead to trigger the tank because we heard one faintly. Well, we walked inside the house and within seconds, he was pounced by a hunter and as I tried to shoot it off of him, a boomer puked on me and him so we died in less than ten seconds. It was horrifying.

Fear files, in general scared the living crap out of me i hated that game

I saw him when I was 9. And then I played RE 4 when I was fourteen. The regenerators. They're alive. They're breathing. THEY'RE COMING FOR YOU!!

I was near the end (proably near the last 10 minutes of gameplay)My guy freaked out and i found myself inside the hospitol i was born in. This freaked me out a little bit due to all the moments with the Ghosts. I walked through the first door and Alma appeared. I unloaded into her with my gun and she dissapered in a cloud of what i belive is blood. A little further in i see Alma again. I repeated what i did and got the same results. Then i got to the last part and saw a locked door. I looked inside and saw alma kill the man inside. Confused over what i was suppose to do i just stood there and tried to open the door. I looked behind me and there i saw Alma face to face. this was late at night and i nearly jumped out of my seat.

Ah yes, a scary moment indeed, surpassed only by the infamous Ladder Scare. If you don't know what I'm referring to, there's no way you actually played F.E.A.R.

Both of these.

System Shock 2 - pretty much all of it but most notably:

- The hybrid who switches the lights off before charging at you on MedSci
- The Cargo Bays down on Engineering
- The first time you meet a) jumping spiders b) cyborg ninjas c) rumblers.

The FUCKING CAT in Silent Hill. Actually, the entire damn school portion had me losing a little pee every other minute.

And while we're at it, the little child ghosts that gather around you in one of the classrooms is a pretty freaky moments on its own.

It was late at night, the lights were out, the volume was on high, and I was playing Halo2. I was playing the level were the flood invade High Charity and I was walking through a corridor. It was quiet, then a loud crack sound made me jump. Apparently, a flood wielding a sniper rifle was literally adjacent to me and fired the rifle. I had to take a breather after the initial shock.
