I have no idea what they were thinking in this scene.
The really creepy stuff starts happening around :50. Enjoy.
2:30 is just trippy.
This, oh god so many times this!

I have a bad habit of playing games late at night when it's dark, to improve my immersiveness of a game. I found that cutscene at around 3 at night and it scared the crap outta me. (Now I love it though)

Also, the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3 at 2-ish at night... not expecting Fallout 3 to pull out the creepy and scary all of a sudden. o_O

The Dunwich Building from Fallout 3.

An old building full of ghouls, notes from an unknown person and the grand finale: A twisted statue with connections to C'thulu (Did I spell that right?).

Freaky indeed...

The 'Lost in nightmares' DLC for Resident Evil 5. I am gonig to claim that, for the most part, Resi 5 isn't scary whatsoever, and since the zombies wield weapons, then it's less of a horror game. But anyway. All the creepy shit that happened... Birds and stuff scaring you, and then you walk round a corner and are literally face-to-face with a fucking huge monster wielding an anchor. I nearly crapped my pants.

I found the haunted house section of Timesplitters: Future Perfect pretty creepy as a kid, dunno if I still would though
I concur. As a kid I always had to be playing co-op to complete that level. Still pretty freaky at age 16.

Lavender Town in Pokemon Red.
Right on, bro. Scares me more know than as a kid.

Twisted Metal 4 had some cutscenes (the ones that play after you win) that really freaked me out as a kid. I don't remember much about them, just that I was scared.

Also, STALKER. Bloodsuckers, man. The zone is out to get me.

For me its Ravenholm. That first poison headcrab and the fast zombies scared the hell outta me.
Ok, your turn.
All of those.

And the wall/floormasters in Legend of Zelda... A disembodied hand that fell from the ceiling coming to snatch you?

The final boss of the Zombie Island DLC in Borderlands was the scariest, most fucked up thing I've ever seen in a non-horror game. I used my Scorpio turret just to avoid looking at it.

Behind one of those talking doors in Fable 2.
The one with the very welcome looking house, if you've done it you'll know what I'm talking about.
Now that was creepy.

I totally agree with you there. Ravenholm was scary as.

Nothing, NOTHING beats Ravenholm. Well, in my games catalogue. I fucking hate headcrabs.
Maybe it's just me but I didn't find Ravenholm to be even remotely scary (just as people kept telling me how frightening FEAR was but...it only occasionaly made me go 'hmmmm' in suprise), zombies are something we've been dealing with in games for well over a decade now, the horror value has diminished somewhat (and the headcrab zombies looked silly to me, I couldn't stop thinking how much it looked like they had a roast turkey stuck on their head).

Since Alien Trilogy was technically a horror game (being based on a horror movie and all) I can't nominate that (although I will reccomend it for it's dark atmosphere and mood), therefore, I will have to say the video intros/outros of the Twisted Metal games.

Most of them were funny but in a dark, twisted kind of way (Twisted Metal Black being the one that had almost every ending result in the protaganist going on to be a demented, ruthless serial killer, Mr. Grimm's one being one that stuck in my mind particularly).

No bloodstain should look like a man holding a knife. That place was creepy.

Also the Revert-filled tunnel in Singularity (You could argue that it is a horror game but I've never heard of it described as such). It was the message on the wall that made it worse: knowing that you have to move slowly through that place.

The second level in Resident evil 5 (OH SNAP)

Seriously though, I found a lot of Bioshock to be scary as all hell.

Every Thief game always had one if not more horror levels, though it was never really a horror series. Most recently there's The Shalebridge Cradle from Thief: Deadly Shadows a few years back, which was probably one of the best horror levels I've ever played in a game. Brilliant.

Just listening to the 'soundtrack' gives me the creeps.

This. 100000000x This. Fuck I hated that level. No weapons, and I hated the ghostly laughing sound. Eugh. Gives me the goosebumps just thinking about it.

What Bloodstain?

I'm curious now!

OP: For me it was X-18 or the Bloodsucker village from S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl.

The first dramatic reveal of the Flood in Halo: Combat Evolved.
It was so quiet and so moody and I was dreading walking down each corridor.
These two, plus the dream sequences in Max Payne and one night-time level in Mafia where you get ambushed (cannot remember the name of the level).

Look at the walls, there's at least one that looks like a silhouette of a man holding a knife.

Are we talking the level in single player or the second zombies map?

I'm talking about the asylum in the single player level. I think it's called Ring of Steel.

The second zombies map is still pretty creepy.

From memory, as a kid, the giant spider tunnel in Temple of Xian on Tomb Raider II scared the holy fucknuggets out of me.

Recently I'd have to concur with a lot of people here and suggest the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3. Although that game in general can make me shit myself if a Yao Guai or Deathclaw come flying at me from nowhere wishing to taste my face.
