Limbo is a horror game, no? Erm, Zelda, ocarina of time, the boss in the tree, with the big eye. SCARY

More to the point, I found the Asylum in Psychonauts strangely dread-inducing. It was the creepy girl who would squeak and disappear, maybe because I never got a good look at her and couldn't tell that she was a human, but the jump scares amidst the otherwise silent area really got to me.

When I first clapped eyes on Queen Brahne from Final fantasy IX I was frightened. I mean look at her!

That, and when I first saw Dr. Loboto from Psychonauts it creeped me out. He was a deranged dentist that harvests brains, I mean you can't tell me that isn't frightening!

I have two fears... one is huge the other one is small, buts its there...

The huge fears ir irrational but its there... this enemy just freaks me out... its fast, regenerates, and its huge metal claw and berserk attacks freak the hell out from me... This enemy can be found in the game Metal Arms: Glitch in the system around Level 6 i think...

The otehr one is a small fear... they dont scare me cuz theyre easy to kill, but theyre silent actions, and natural camouflage always leaves me alert, to these exploding freaks...

Wow, Shalebridge Cradle comes up pretty often. I played the level for the first time shortly after Thief 3 was published, so I didn't know what that hellhole had in store.

But there's another mission I found quite scary that noone seems to remember: The Seaside Manor. You know, the one with the crazy lady in the attic. Just listen to the music in this level: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IfttUuCac0

Those goddamn demon vampire Spaniards nearly made me quit the game. That whole section where you have to switch on the power while those bastards come at you team me forever because I had to take breaks from the game just to calm my nerves. Fucking hell, I hate horror. Keep horror in the horror games so I can stay the hell away from it.
That whole part of the game scared the hell out of me, I love horror games but that was just unexpected and not cool. I flipped out when I knocked over something in the hallways. What really scared me was I saw one of those bastards running at me and I turned around to get away from it and there was one right behind me, I screamed and died.

I don't think System Shock 2 was really considered a horror game, but there were a couple moments, the biggest one of course being:
The moment you walk into Polito's room and find her dead.

Also, I was genuinely unnerved when
You're travelling through the ship and see how it is partway through multiple dimensions, and you can see it is clearly larger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

Man, I really want to play that again - I think I will!

Oh, I thought of another surprising one: in World of Warcraft
When you fight the Lich King, he's almost dead and suddenly everyone dies for no apparent reason, it surprised the hell out of me, though it was more of a real life scare than an in-game scare.

ReDeads in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Second prize to Wallmasters and Dead Heads in the game too...

It's already been said, but the Ocean House in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is beyond freaky. I actually screamed when I first saw the ax guy.

Ditto on the Shalebridge Cradel in Thief 3. An insane asylum/orphange/haunted house is just plain creepy, the "patients" haunt my nightmares.

Lavender Town gets my vote for its psychological scarring potential.

For pooing my pants while playing - Shalebridge Cradle.

As someone who plays the fallout games on highest diffuclty Ive gotten the habit of watching my radar alot.
Wandering around the mansion in Point Lookout nothing on my radar and then in front of me SUDDENLY creepy guy in wheelchair.
The storyline didn't really help matters afterwards either.

Halo 3 the mission cortana, it always fills me with dread.
I can sympathize with that. Did the entire campaign four-player legendary co-op on release night, and many alcoholic beverages and other forms of contraband were imbibed. By the time we got to Cortana, all but one of us were so blitzed out of our minds that we got lost in the first room. The lone man sober enough to find his own dick with both hands and a road map...was not the best Halo player in the universe. His crowning achievement of skill was camping the bottom room in Lockout with a shotgun or sword.

So, the guy who had been the one who kept getting us all killed despite whoring the best weapons and snatching all the grenades, had to be babysat, and was generally worthless even as a distraction became the one-eyed man leading the blind. We got to the second room, and were stuck there until I could sober up long enough to lead the pack (two hours).

That level still makes me shudder to this day.

A moment in Doom 2 when I was rushing around a corner when out of nowhere a marine popped up. It instantly died with a hit from the Double-Barrel but it still scared the shit out of me.
