This is ridiculous and I doubt anyone has actually heard of this game...

Titanic: Adventure out of Time was incredibly creepy. The music, character models, and the overall feel of the game was eerie as hell.

None really, even with games I thought would be scary like Bioshock. It scared me for the first 10 minutes, but then the rest of the game annoyed the shit out of me. Alan Wake wasn't scary - a little tense, but not scary.

I never found Ravenholm scary either, and Metro 2033 is annoying me in a similar way to Bioshock - so I don't find that particularly scary either.

System Shock 2 scares the shit out of me. Seriously that game is amazingly atmospheric and when your playing it at 2am in the morning no lights just the screen and some good headphones, its scary as fuck.
Also S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of pripyat scares the fuck out of me. No clue why though...

The only game i didn't expect to have horror was aliens versus predator 2. Only the marine campaign was scary of course, but to me (also, i was a lot younger then) it was really really scary. i remember how everything was silent and i thought "Come on, aliens, I'll fill your face with bullets! Just bring it ON!" and nothing happened. For a long period of time. And when the radar showed movement, i went crazy, and then found out that it was just a bloody crane of some sort.

Seriously, i freaked out a lot playing that game. I was expecting it to be a action-packed shooter, not a "oh my god, get it off my face, get it off, GET IT OFF!!!" game. It still haunts me when i played multiplayer against facehuggers, dear god, that was just...sick. It shows how the tentacle is in you, aargh. That was very, very disturbing.

Metal Gear Solid 2.. Right near the end when shit starts f**king up and telling you to turn shit off and that your failing a mission. Seriously, i had been playing it for almost all day non stop and hit that bit at some ungodly hour in the morning... total headf**k.

Project Zero, on Playstation 2. I was all 'oh sure, I'll go take pictures of ghosts'... and how scary could a PS2 game on a tiny screen be?

At one point my younger brother refused to play it without my dad and I in the room, and neither of us particularly blamed him. There's a huge psychological terror that comes over you when you're playing as a teenager in a haunted house with cutscenes of ritual murder leaping out unexpectedly and loads of ghosts when you're armed ONLY with a camera. And not a digital one either, this one has 28 exposures. *Shudders*

That said... it was an AWESOME game and presumably still is, although it's now kept safely locked away at night.

Stalker: SoC It wasn't THAT scary, but I wasn't expecting it to be scary at all so it was kind of a surprise.

I could never go anywhere without a companion, there was always that feeling of being underpowered and everything was going to kill you.
And it was true.
Maybe if you picked very hard for your very first playthrough. That's nothing personal, but you can take a lot of punishment on lower difficulties, and stimpacks are everywhere. I will admit it can be scary sometimes, like those sneaky feral ghouls. And besides, companions take your XP.

Um, Condemned was scarier than I expected it to be. Does that count? I expected it to be scary-themed but not actually scary. The Tibbits and mannequin (search them on Youtube.com...I know how to imbed videos, I'm just being lazy. Oh well, at least I'm honest) scene actually got me...also, the bits where everything is (somewhat) calm...you're health is low...quiet...eerie...you hear a bottle rolling on the ground...look around... a few more minutes of silence...you try to relax...and then BAM!!! See this link for an example: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/pics/7080607aaa.jpg "Where did you come from?! WTF? DIEEE!!!" Also, I thought it was rather brutal...just didn't like the ending. Seemed lame and unnecessary to me. Just have it end with the bad guy dying/escaping. Those other psychos could be explained by drug use (either voluntary or forced upon by the bad guy), or they are just hench men.
Also, Mass Effect...simply couldn't deal with having to deal with an entire game that seemed like an escort mission. Seriously, if your armor is depleted and your health is low, why do I have to tell you to take cover? And why do you take cover 2 feet from the enemy? GRR...FURY!!! I think it was overrated and plan on selling my copy.

Resident Evil 4.

I had never played an RE game before and thought it would just be a cool action game with scary elements.

I was wrong. That game scared the shit out of me.

Goddamn regeneraters....
Don't you dare speak of them....

*breaths like them*

Oh man those things were sick....

Hmm, game that I didn't expect to scare me....Metroid Prime? I'm sure I've been scared by the bosses a good few times.
Interesting, I was at first disapointed because I thought RE4 would be scary and it wasn't. But I don't think I've gotten to the "regenerators" yet. How far in do they show up? I'm at the part where Ashley was just kidnapped (again) by one of the flying bug monsters.

Condemned is by far the scariest game I have ever played. It's a shame the sequel was so bad.
