I' am a teacher so I know what the OP is getting at. Like others have said we sometimes accept that some kids are just a lost cause and there is nothing we can do. You can only tell a kid so many times to not come into school with trainers instead of shoes or to wear the correct trousers etc. Unfortunately we have no real power to discipline them, the head teacher can try to get them excluded but it usually ends in an appeal and the kid in question gets let back into school.

The rest are usually decent kids, if we tell you off its because we want to keep the same standards. Its very unfair I know but in a couple of years time you will probably have moved onto further education or got a decent job. Most of the kids who you see seriously disregarding authority at school level usually end up in more trouble down the line, perhaps with the law or they have no qualifications etc and are unemployed. We obviously try to get these kids to sort their lives out but it can be very hard if they and their families are unwilling to cooperate, its also not fair to focus all our attention on them when there are other kids who need to learn etc.

I hated school uniforms. My first high school actually had a dress code where you couldn't just wear just any clothes that fit to the dress code, they specifically had to have the school initials sewn in in a part of it. It was just an excuse to make extra money off of people over nothing.

Don't worry about it Op. Treat it as a day off, enjoy the sun, try to find some darker trousers, if you carn't find any, get your parents to write you a note.

In high school we had a major problem with shirts being untucked, hardly any of the pupils tucked their shirts in, much to the annoyance of the teachers, whom made a major effort to stamp out the practise, but by the time i left there were no signs that the teacher was winning. We would all roll up our shirts whenever we saw a teacher coming are way, so it looked like they were tucked in, and let them roll out again as soon as the danger had gone.

In 6th form, we were lucky enough to have a non-uniform policy, albiet only a couple of regulations which made sure you looked at least presentable. Personally, i think having non-uniform helped us mature into adults because we actually felt like students as opposed to pupils. Having no-uniform highlights the differences between high school and 6th form, and makes one feel more older and thus hopefully act more mature.

Only uniform issue I`ve ever encountered was when I started wearing a suit jacket to school and due to it not getting taken off me or any teacher calling me up on it (some teachers actually walking up to me and complementing me on it) in two weeks I thought I was in the clear for some reason, but then I was told to take it off as other students were citing my case when asked to take off their hoodies.

I dont really mind them. My school is all about blazers and top buttons done but its more for later life so when you walk around you dont look shabby especially if your in the work place, where you are expected to wear work attire.

It's getting ridiculous over here. All of our punishments are way out of wack.
Punishment for being late to school?: Dentention, letter home if repeated.
Punishment for being at school but skipping class?: None, maybe a minor lecture.
Punishment for being out of uniform?: Not allowed to participate in class, sent home.
Punishment for foregoing school altogether?: Decided by parents.
So, you see, if you are wearing socks that aren't long enough... You may as well stay home and spare yourself the trouble.

We have an actual uniform, with like a tie and stuff.

Dress codes/policies are stupid (what you have).
The idea is that it breeds conformity. Most trades do have a uniform of sorts, whether it's builders in their helmets and high-vis jackets, McDonalds workers in their outfits, or office workers in suits and ties.

School is just training for work, after all; the real lessons you're supposed to learn at school are obeying those with authority over you, being on time, working hard etc. The stuff they actually teach you in your lessons is largely useless, it's the subconscious lessons that are meant to stick with you.
Yeah, there's nothing more important than ensuring the next generation of consumers get properly indoctrinated.

Sit up straight.
Wear these clothes.
Buy these products.
Do as we tell you, or else.

I had a similar problem at my school, facial hair of any form is banned and if your seen with it at school they threaten to pull you into their office and make you shave with some scrubby razor. I joint the school 3 years ago for 6th form (retook my first year) and throughout my time at the school I've had, not to blow my own trumpet, pretty sick sideburns and the teachers never seemed bothered. However on my last day there, the head of sixth form pulled my aside and threatened to send me home on an hour long bus, therefore making me miss my final exam. I believe that to be the major difference between sixth forms and colleges, the way you are treated.

Last year when I was in Year 12, during our PRACTICE exams I wore my year 12 hoodie (It was a private school, full on blazer and shit you know). They sent me a letter 2 weeks later giving me a saturday detention. End of story. I refused to go, but unfortunately my mother had seen said letter and forced me with literal force.

I had never been in trouble at all for anything and up until that year had been straight A student. Needless to say this fucked me off a tiny bit.

There was really only one Uniform Nazi in my school, only problem is she was the Vice-Principal. Having ties visibal and as high as possible was really important for her. Now the girls in school, mostly all wore jumper(as a senior you could wear a blazer if you wanted) with the top 2 buttons undone so that the collar spreads over rim of the jumper nicely while mostly hiding the tie, all the girls pretty much did this as it looks good and didn't make you look like a prood, because come on, what girls wear shirts done all the way up.

Now I have seen this vice-principal button peoples top button on shirts and even tuck in untucked shirts which I though was insane. Luckily you could hear her coming as she always walked pretty aggressively and wore high heals, so everyone knew to hide your shame when she was coming.

If you came in wearing runners or anything that wasn't all black shoes, the school gave you slippers for the day, lucky I was able to hide my all black skate shoes most of the time and never got caught.

The blazer was actually pretty awesome, I loved mine, you could it in so much stuff in the pockets. Although it smelled like wet dog if you got caught in the rain.

Oh how I miss school.

Edit:

Just remembered how much I loved the girls uniform, I would always pray for a bit of wind to lit some skirts and when it was hot and sunny, you could totally see some boobs through the shirts.

I remember one day though, the vice-principal made all the girls in juniors, aka years 1-3, aka teenage girls aged 12-15 ish talk off all their make up, by force.

Yes she literally force facewipped makeup off of girls. How insane is that. I wont go into the details lets just say the students responded with tears, protest and national exposure on the radio. Did not go down well.

Yeah man.. All school fuckin does is breed robots. Like.. They give you uniforms and teach you these rules and expect you to just fuckin follow along like sleep to a fuckin Shepard. Fuck that man.. I just spent most of my days sitting at home writing and drawing and listening to The Cure.. Like, I don't wanna spend my days at that conformist factory.

There's only one solution. Bomb the school!

Meh, none of my schools ever had dress code, and I wouldn't fucking be near a school that had one. Fuck that.

That's true. I thought my Uncle Tommy was wearing black socks, but when I looked at them closely, they were just very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very dark blue.

Yea uniform rules can be irritating but meh, its part and parcel of going to school along with unfairness, bullies and spiking your friends Korma with really really hot chilli sauce.

I have to say I was both surprised and disappointed in Ms McCormack's victimisation of you. I've decided to boycott the Amnesty group for a while, because her actions have proved there is a trust barrier between us.

Well, personally I would come to school the next day wearing white pants, red shorts, or a green kilt just to be spiteful, but that's me.

We're living in a world where 12 year old girls are dragged off in handcuffs for writing on their desks in dry-erase markers. A world where your neighbor will sick the swat team on you for not mowing your lawn.
I beleive the lawn mowing thing is because somehow mosquitos breed in tall grass.
