Screenwriter Talks About Original Vision for WoW Movie

actually WoW isnt in refference to the game, its a refferences to the maps, locations, and charicters in the game, along with the charicters from the storyline. the name is more appropriet as it is not actually a Warcraft game as everyone except Trollbane, Khadgar, and Graymane from the original games are still alive or involved.CantFaketheFunk said:

I was unaware there any details of the script to be found, can someone point me in the general direction cause I've been trying to follow this to no avail.
Anyone who thinks this film is going to be based around the subculture generated by WoW must be kidding... maybe which ever director feels a 'parody movie' of it is nessicary...

But anyhoo, I think that Sam raimi wasn't that great anyway, his big films being Spiderman and Drag me to hell. I would have preferred the other script to be honest.
Well if it ever ends up on the internet Im sure we shall get to read the screenplay one day but I do like the story that the movie is goin to be workin off, so either way we shall get what we wanted

I hope blizz knows what they are doing with this cuz if they screw the movie there will be mils of pissed off fans. and then mils of pissed of normal ppl who just went to the cinema cuz of the shiny trailer (oh there will be an uber shiny trailer for sure).

I gotta say, I trust Blizzard.
If the movie does suck, Blizzard will cut it, even if it's almost done.
They won't release it if it isn't up to their standards.. that's been their policy for games so far, so I don't see why it shouldn't apply to movies.

He seems to talk more about how he'll keep the fans happy and make it accessible than talk about it actually being a good script. To me, this is a bad thing, it could wind up being a movie spent trying to explain all the concepts while dropping obvious bits for the fans that confuse everyone else and little focus is spent making it an awesome movie.
Instead, going by IMDB [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0803096/], Chris Metzen is writing the story (who worked on creating Diablo, WarCraft and StarCraft stories within Blizzard, and is VP of Creative Development at Blizzard. Basically, the best guy to write a WarCraft story. Screenplay is by Robert Rodat, who did The Patriot and Saving Private Ryan, so expect a good war story behind it. Raimi is a brilliant director, so I'm not too worried about that.
A lot of writers get shafted after writing a script, it's the business. But I don't think this one is for the worse in anyway.
