Seems quite interesting and it also seems that many improvements were made since the last game.

To be honest, I only played the first game's demo and I couldn't play on multiplayer, because I didn't have a gold account back then, but it was quite entertaining, to say the least. If I wasn't already hooked to Global Agenda right now, I'd may give it a chance.

As I'm not a shooter fan, I was kind of expecting this to be a review along the traditional "it's a shooter, you know what to do" lines, but I was pleasantly surprised. So surprised, I'll even try it a bit, and name drop to a few friends that they might pick it up as well. This seems like a better way to deliver a 6 hour campaign and accompanying multiplayer than a $60 price tag for something that doesn't feel like it would be worth the price. Awesome.

I remember the demo being a damn lot of fun when I played it, but the price tag seemed too much for what little you got from the game. I mean, dropping from orbit onto someone's head was the best damn feeling ever but I always wondered when I'd get bored of doing it.

At this cost though it seems all my orbit headbutts will be fairly priced.

This is easily one of my favorite purchases of the year. For $15, the game keeps you pretty busy with how much it has to offer. Plus, I'm also surprised at how good the game looked despite it being a downloadable.

Well done, Timegate.

what i'm wondering, though, is if you can play Swarm mode by yourself or if you HAVE to go online. i'm also wondering if the conquest mode is anything like in Star Wars: Battlefront.

Add to that, this game would be WAY more worth my money if it had split-screen.
And a Galactic Conquest mode like in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (seriously, i played that endlessly.)

I actually quit viewing around halfway through, to my defense I'm currently on the universities internet and it's slow, I have to say to me it just looked like another shooter, I liked that little speed boost thing but that's all I got to which was interesting. I may be a bit biased because I hate the setting as well (where everything is there for it's own sake, useless buildings and structures such as in Halo and guns are all fairly standard but look sort of stupid. This is all opinion of course, I don't expect everyone to agree with me) What I saw of it was incredibly underwhelming. I'll come back later to read the actual article and watch the rest though since everyone seems so into it.

I wasnt that impressed with the demo of the original but that might be because Im not fond of fps games on the console but since this one is also on steam I might pick it up

Good review, definitely a good game, I play on PC.
One day I thought to myself, "I want to play Halo but I have a PC"
A quick search turned the original, so I bought it (and there were still people online!).
Then I heard they were coming out with a sequel so I got into the beta,
I wish I could unlock stuff faster but this game, it's good times.

Considering how much Timegate has already delivered (plus the new Assault mode that the community unlocked), it's a missed opportunity I can certainly forgive without hesitation.

Lovin' the game so far [XBLA], been playing it since it came out.
If anyone's looking for folks to play with there's a bunch of us over on reddit at r/WARISPREJUDICE.
Timegate have done an excellent job & are doing a huge amount to continue supporting the game with even more content and maps in the works.
This is a game which really deserves to do well & I hope in the long term it gets the player numbers and good community it deserves.

Can't say no to a price tag like this. The retail price of the first game basically put me off buying it, but if this new installment is basically a refined 'more of the same' for 12-15 bucks, count me in.

the first game always interested me a bit with its attempt at throwing some new stuff in it for kicks, and this seems better in fact. will definitely check it out once I get through my current library of to-play games...starting to pile up a bit heh

Oh god, yes. What little I was able to play of the game was quite engaging, but after the first time I closed the game my GFWL account stuffed up and I've never been able to play it again.

Oh well, at least I only wasted $15 and hopefully I might even be able to fix the problem someday. It's all Microsoft's fault anyway, not Timegate's.

This game gives you more for $15 than a lot of games give you for $50+. I wish more companies gave thought to their price point, but they probably won't unless Prejudice gives them reason to see it as conferring a competitive advantage.

Hopefully if this game sells well it will show companies that focusing on gameplay rather than graphics will A) make games cheaper to make. B) make games more fun

I really hope this review will bring more people in the game. It's not the most original idea out there but they have done a lot of things right:
1) Large maps and players
2) Increased mobility via overdrive and drop-ins to get to the action fast
3) Emphasis on player co-op rather than kills (no K/D ratio and you can only really compare when the game ends)
4) No cheap 1-hit kills (others may disagree with this)
5) Unlocks are relatively balanced, with the exception of Pauldrons, which are more of a reward for veterans without being too overpowered (another 4-10% more effectiveness, maybe). Some may argue that Particle Cannons are a bit OP at the moment.
6) Fairly diverse loadouts to experiment with
7) Offline play to practice
8) A fair chunk of weapons can be unlocked offline

Biggest problem right now seems to be the limited number of maps and maybe some design choices but generally I find this game to give as much fun per dollar as TF2. Also it's a small community at the moment in Australia (relatively). Some people accus GFWL of having an effect as well.

Still, I really hope this becomes a success so other companies will consider this as an example of not having to blow everything into an AAA title that costs 4-6 times more.

I picked this game up the other day, and I'm loving it. The story is like a SciFi Channel Original Movie, which I actually found pretty charming. The voice acting is what you would expect for a cheap game, but aside from this one annoying general it's not all that bad. The AI is better than many AAA shooters out there (though my thoughts may be skewed, since I just finished a solo Legendary run of Halo: Reach), and the multiplayer utilizes these AI to finish out the game roster if you don't have enough people together to fill the 32 player games. Yes, you heard me right: GOOD AI IN MULTIPLAYER ON A CONSOLE.

I can't believe that Greg hardly touched on one of the coolest bits ever.. the drop-in spawn system.

No more maps being unbalanced based on spawn points, because everybody can spawn anywhere. Plus the ability to literally bring "death from above" by landing directly on another guy. It's not easy, but when you nail it, it's completely awesome.

I've said it once, and I'll say it agsin- the marketplaces are the best thing about this generation. The last game to come along that impressed me in the same way as this was Monday Night Combat, and this looks yards better.

OK, I've been reading a lot of stuff here, so I need only one answer before I give in to what seems like a good bit of shooter fun that I haven't had in a while for a price that I'm much more willing to give in to:

Can I get this on Steam and NOT have to install the whole Games for Windows Live deal?

The campaign is divisive, some like it while others hate it. I'm in the former camp, nothing amazing but it didn't feel like a waste of my time and gave some context to the areas we're fighting over in multiplayer. Plus it gives some easy achievements (the PC version has the full 1000 points of a retail game) that also unlock additional gear for multiplayer.

So they still use GfWL?

Absolute non-starter as far as I'm concerned then. I picked up the first one only a few weeks after the release. Loved it, played the campaign through twice and then tried the multiplayer... 4 weeks (and 5+ support tickets because the bastards kept closing them!) and I still couldn't get the game to register my character!

I'll pass on this (and anything else that uses GfWL).

I picked this up from Steam on a whim and really, it is the BEST shooter I've played in the past few months at very least. As someone who has no interest in Metal of Blops type games, only a passing interest in Counter Strike and only like TF2 before it became a vending machine, I'm not the typical "modern" shooter player. Borderlands was a high point for me, as was Global Agenda that manages to do MMOShooter better than most MMOs do MMO and Shooters do Shooter, all while costing nearly NOTHING. I'm also an old school fan of Tribes and Planetside.

Section 8:prejudice served to show how absolutely lacking Brink had been. With the exception of GFWL, its near perfect for what it is. Sure, the story is the standard Gears of Halo redux but it isn't done badly, and the gameplay is fantastic. Customization comes in that you can select your guns, their ammo, and a handful of utilities, along with your stat points - this being more meaningful customization than other games. There's a full featured single campaign as well as multiple multiplayer (and Co-Op) modes, vehicles, drop-ins, sprint and jetpack etc... for $15! Its well worth your time and is priced exactly right.

Cool. I like this review. I tried the original Section 8 during beta but sound wouldn't work, it wouldn't come on at all, and that happened to me and several others, so that was that. But the little time I played it without sound I had a favorable impression of it, so I'm glad its designers stuck with it. At $15 I might give it a go.

Hmm...Im genuinely surprised by this. I played the original and haaaaated it, the flying down thing was a cool idea but it took ages, and in every campaign you ended up 30seconds run from where you died, so dying wasn't a case of reloading, it was a case of spending about a minute just getting back to where you died. Got tedious since I refuse to play games on normal.

I didn't experience any bugs really, but my Xbox did freeze a few times while playing Prejudice. Not sure if that had to do with the game or the hardware though.

I think that Section 8's greatest achievement, and what separates it from other games, is that its balancing mechanics are very polished. Each weapon is equally good, just at different things, so you never see an entire team using the same few loadouts. You can also choose where you spawn with the orbital drop, which effectively removes spawn camping.

It does look a lot like a streamlined tribes game and seeing how I loved tribes and tribes 2 I might go get this game.
