It's like the Saints Row 2 and Saints Row 3 debacle. If you never played saints row 1-2, of course your going to think Saints Row 3 is this awesome stupid fun. However, if you played 1-2 (especially 2) before 3, you would know then what was missing in 3 and why 2 is more critically acclaimed.
Actually, if you're a PC gamer Saints Row 3 is significantly better than Saints Row 2 because it's not a horribly buggy totally unplayable mess, but that has more to do with terrible porting than anything else.

On GenderShepard: I think part of the reason the numbers are so skewed is that a lot of the guys who played FemShep ALSO played MaleShep (I know I did) so they don't help tip the balance.

"Of players that finished ME3"
Well there's your problem, I imagine a lot of players played through their first Shepard (male) and then saw the ending, and didn't bother finishing their other (probably fem) sheps.

As a user of the female Renegade Engineer, I'm not surprised there were so few of us. I thought having a couple extra disposable buddies in the form of a turret and drone (and Ash when she ran out of grenades) was a boon that hardly got me killed even in insanity, but I understand that more people wanted a more straightforward approach to fights in the form of a soldier.

3.8% of people have no heart, who could seriously shoot Mordin?

Also 64% missed out on Wrex in Mass Effect 3? But he's one of the best characters from one of the best species, I mean come on his people resolve arguments with a headbutt FFS. Also Vega? Yeah I never used him though I am sad to see Ashley only survived 54% of the time. I loved her so I could never let her die. She's just....perfect.

I see your point about the romances; in the first game I ended up romancing Liara because Kaidan was just kind of dull. Stuck with her throughout all three games, although I do want to play ME2 again to romance Thane. I also want to do a DudeShep run of all three and romance Tali. Now I just need to find the time...

The Tali romance is soooo worth it. I did liara in the first game and switched to Tali without even batting an eye in the second. The payoff in 3 for the Tali romance is just awesome. The scene of her and Shep on Rannoch if you pull of the Geth/Quarian truce is hands down the best scene in the whole series. Tali is easily one of my favorite video game characters ever. Keelah Se'lai!

My thoughts:

As a male who plays FemShep, I have to say that I'm saddened by how few people play her. Not exactly surprised, admittedly, but Jennifer Hale is a fantastic voice actress, and from my point of view it was nice to see a huge, blockbuster RPG trilogy with a female protagonist. Hopefully there'll be a more even distribution next time.

I'm also baffled by the apparent popularity of Vega. I can only assume he ranks so high because he's around for all of ME3.

I also find it weird that 2/3 of people who played ME3 didn't meet Wrex. I'm surprised that most people didn't play all three games; the experience is so much richer if you do.
Fem Shep was indeed the bomb. I think that the voice actress that played her was a HUGE improvement over the MShep.

Also to the original post.... And 0 fucks were given for all these stats because while they tracked them here it did nothing for the ending in any way at all.

If anything this is a BIGGER slap in the face. So you tracked all this........... and did NOTHING with it...... Because that was your vision of the ending.......... There are not enough hands in the world for the faceplam needed.

Dislike the ending? Fine. Don't insult those of us who didn't have a problem with it - such as myself. Seriously, legitimate grievances about the ending aside, it's been a year. Can we please stop beating the pile of blood and viscera that used to be a dead horse?
I don't think we can stop beating the horse until we are sure the bloodstains won't wash out so that EA and Bioware will always remember. I think it's better that we still raise a fuss every so often rather then gamers forgetting the last controversy for the next one. Hell the ME3 ending could be some of the reason the simcity fiasco is as big as it is, people saying hey EA still remember your last screw up and we're getting sick of it.

OT: Interesting, but it's a bit hard to do a kind of popularity thing between characters when their roles change between games and their availability to play in a squad changes, so Vega is going to be unnaturally skewed in his favour.

Ha! I like how most people didn't save the asshole Quarians.

I actually did have a Female Renegade Engineer (I've always liked minion classes).

Shot Mordin and didn't cure the Genophage (Seriously people, 8%? The Genophage was put into place for a reason)

-waves hand-

I liked Mordin and all, but he was going to cure the Genophage. Regret is a terrible thing, but a bullet cures all ails.

So it is an insult now to say that many people haven't played ME1 and 2? I don't see how I insulted anyone with my post other than maybe EA itself...

Calling the end S*** doesn't mean that the people who liked it are S*** too or does it now?

No, you insinuated that people who liked the ending haven't played Mass Effect 1 and 2. No true Scotsmen, etc.

82% of the players who finished Mass Effect 3 were playing as Male Shepard, leaving only 18% playing FemShep.
The fact that this adds up to 100% is weird. I finished multiple playthroughs with both female and male Shepards, how the hell do I fit into this statistic?

You sir just made me laugh out loud (which isn't good cause I'm at work)

Also only 18% femsheps?
I pity the fools who haven't experienced a whirlwind romance with the galaxies favourite Turian!

Paragon Vanguard for the win!

Also Liara is more used than Garrus, I guess I can understand that after she became the shadow broker she became ALOT cooler.

It was the most celebrated controversy and all anyone talked about for an entire year. Regardless of what you think, it will not be forgotten, and we are long past the point where still beating that red smear you call a horse into the ground is still acceptable and relevant. If you're never sure when we reach that point in a controversy, you can usually gauge it by how many collective slaps to the forehead are heard whenever someone starts it up again.

You know what statistic I would like to see? How many people are still complaining about the ending a year later. Good lord people, grow up and get over it.
