This is retarded. The 3D Sonic games are simply terrible games for the most part, and for a variety of reasons already stated by others above me.
I dont know about you but I actually enjoyed the day stages in sonic unleashed. I just hope these reasons doesnt apply to sonic 4

Right... Sega... it's all everyone else's fault...
it isn't because you've been handing Sonic over to team of idiots after team of idiots.

Oh no... it couldn't possibly be that...

Oh, NOW I get it.

It wasn't the annoying characters, bad controls, worse stories, or the repeated attempts to make Sonic as small part of the games baring his name, we just didn't understand them! How stupid have we BEEN!

Despite the article title casting the quote in a negative light, the comment actually makes sense, especially if you've been to a sonic forum recently. People are actually complaining that Sega is marketing Sonic Colors towards children (like that automatically dooms the quality of a product). Sonic Team might actually have THE most unreasonable fanbase...

Its our fault that you decided that the adventure series on the dreamcast, which were enjoyed by millions, actually took too much work to make, and needed ruining.

Sega, its your fault, you had the formula for a good 3D sonic games, dont pull that crap out on us.

Next they'l say they accidently set fire to all the good concepts they had, and decided to create some new ones based on what they looked at next >.<

So they are resorting to the traditional fallback line of other bad artists? Have you no shame SEGA?

I remember a time where Ewe Boll said the same thing about his movies. It's just a developer unable to come to grips with the fact their games have been (un)shockingly awful the last few years.

Any good developer would take criticism as a means of improving the game's experience, not feel the need to defend it.

Didn't like it either...
BLASPHEMY!

Actually, I kid. PSO isn't a good game, I just love the hell out of it.

An excerpt from a piece I wrote about the need to kill off Sonic:

Alas, it was not to be. The Sonic games veered further and further away from their simple, yet elegantly satisfying roots, and entered into a territory of uninspired gameplay, pointless mechanics, and craptastic supporting characters. By the time the truly abysmal Sonic Heroes rolled around, Sonic had become a bit player in his own game, on equal footing with D-listers like Cream the Rabbit and Charmy Bee. Charmy fucking Bee.

The Sonic bits of the Sonic Adventure games were good, but the rest of the parts of the games mostly were bad. The Sonic parts of the games are usually good, but the fact is they add some much unneeded crap which makes the games shit.

Wait, so if Sonic games are all about speed and platforming, like he says...

Then what's the excuse for the crappy Werehog sections?

Honestly, I gave up on the games once Shadow the Hedgehog was released and missed the whole point (which is coincidentally the same one I brought up earlier). Seeing a pattern here?

My literature professor said the same thing about Moby Dick. It was a bad excuse then, it's a bad excuse now.

Wow... reading the title was just about as bad as when I told people that half the characters in SSBB sucked and they told me that was because I didn't sit there and practice with them for hours and that I need to learn how to use them...

Sega, have you come into the illusion that you are a company full of jedis capable of mind-tricking the entire gaming populace into thinking they just need to buy all the 3D sonics again in order to "get them" this time?

This is completely, hilariously stupid of them.

On the subject of sonic 4, I still try not to get excited, I have a feeling sega will pull a moronic gimmick out of the bag at the last minute, completely ruining the game.

Here's the thing: from what I understand the speed and platforming, for all intents and purposes, work well enough in most of the 3D Sonic games. The problem is Sonic Team is trying to set that up against concepts that are not what the character is about (ie: werehogs and King Arthur). It's as if they're just trying whatever they think works without considering the fact that it's a Sonic game first.

The real solution to this problem is simple: the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog series. For a comic book series that's been on-going for over 200 issues (not even including the spin-offs), it's clear that something is being done right. I only have a few issues of the early stuff, and it still holds up. Sure, it's mostly based on the SatAM series, but my point remains the same.

Dear Sonic Team,

You have a gold mine of source material at your disposal. Use it. Or continue to fail as a developer.

Punch-punch-go, Jbird.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there someone who actually described the fun it was to go through multiple areas to get to the end?

Or the fact that it wasn't just one speed course?

Or the fact that the game has unnecessary gimmicks that cheaply affect the length of the game?

It's not that people hate Sonic. It's just the fact that his games are one dimensional and uninspired as of late.
