vansau said:Sega: Sonic Games Don't Suck, You Just Don't Understand Them
. Speaking to Eurogamer, Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka stated that the real reason Sonic games haven't been well-received is because fans of the original games expect something different than the newer, 3D titles can deliver.
According to Iizuka, "Sonic is all about the speed and the platforming. It just comes down to how the gameplay differs when you're playing in 3D and 2D side-scrolling.
"Those fans are not positive towards the recent 3D Sonic games because we've been releasing only 3D Sonic games in the past couple of years. It's hard to please both 2D and 3D fans at the same time, in the same title for instance."

What, exactly, was I supposed to expect when in Sonic and the Secret Rings, the first new Sonic title released on the Wii...
*deep breath*
YOU HAD ME DRIVING SONIC LIKE A FUCKING CAR?!?
Yeah, I know that one brother. Just making an observational joke. Sometimes I forget the internet is a serious place.MikailCaboose said:To be argumentative "Eggman" was his original name. I've never played any of the original Sonic games and I can say without a doubt the new Sonic games suck. Sega consistently makes terrible Sonic games and everyone knows that.DJmagma said:anyone else think the title of this article is putting sega in a negative light? this actually sounds reasonable to me.
Then how would you know what to expect in a sonic game?Snarky Username said:I've never played any of the original Sonic games..
I wouldn't know. That's my point.lma0nade said:Then how would you know what to expect in a sonic game?Snarky Username said:I've never played any of the original Sonic games..
Nope, I never judge a game for it's publisher/developer. It's just that I never enjoyed a Sega game, maybe because I am too used to the PC, which I think it's the primary cause, but also I never understood why they are so famous, why people like it, etc.CTU_Loscombe said:This post really got my goat...So, what you're trying to say is even if you played a game and enjoyed it, then found out it was a sega game, you'd immediately hate it?Khaiseri said:I never liked a Sega game anyways...
OT: Yeah, Sonic isnt really suited to 3D, aside from the Sonic Adventure series but I agree with what the japanese bloke said i.e fans of the 2D games are expecting EXACTLY the same things out of the 3D games, which due to Sonics speed, they just cant deliver. Its not a case of the fanbase (myself included) doesnt understand them, its a case of they want the old style back to just Sonic, Tails, Robotnik and 2D.
But, then again I know the haters will continue to hate Sonic and agree with every bloody thing that comes out of Yahtzees mouth like mindless sheep
Well crud. I'm usually better at picking out when people are joking. Whoops. It's a bit tough to pick out jokes and sarcasm on the net.Cray Z Munkey said:Yeah, I know that one brother.
