Im just saying that Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 are fucking awesome.
All the reviewers only agree with you.

Sonic Adventure:
"The reception at the time of release was overwhelmingly positive, including reviews from GameSpot and GameSpy being above 90%. The current Game Rankings average ranking is 88%.[3] It became one of the few Sega All Stars games. In Japan, it received an excellent 38 out of 40 from Famitsu."

One thing remains certain: As long as they call him Dr. Robotnik and can this "Eggman" crap, we'll be good.
I cannot agree with this strongly enough.
I 2nd this
When will you guys finally realize that Eggman was ALWAYS his original name.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Ivo_Robotnik
when will you finally use google and look this stuff up. Eggmann is an alias.

you lose
thats from the second game by the way
Right from Wiki which has basically taken bits from the manual. His name IS Dr. I. Robotnik, Eggman is an alias, a go by, ergo not his real name.

The original English instruction manual for his 1991 debut game Sonic the Hedgehog described the character's full name as "Doctor Ivo Robotnik"[2] while the Japanese version's instruction manual for the same game called him "Doctor Eggman".[7] Then in 1999's Sonic Adventure, the character was called both "Doctor Robotnik" and "Doctor Eggman" in the English version.[4] Yuji Naka has explained that "Robotnik" is the character's real name while "Eggman" is a "common name taken after his shape."
That only applies since 1999. Before that he was Eggman in Japan. Today he is a combination of both.

Y'know how they got Michael Jackson to score Sonic 3? Justin Timberlake is scoring Sonic 4.

Wow, that looks actually really fun.

The whole 3D in 2D thing reminds me a little bit of New Super Mario Bros.

I want it.

You guys need to remember something; going back to 2D does not automatically make a game good. You still need good level design, something that the Sonic team has failed to create over the past few years. What makes you think they will suddenly get it right?

I think there are two likely outcomes. The first is that the level design is shit and it isn't fun to play at all. People berate Sega once again and vow to never buy another Sonic game. The second is that the level design is decent, but only because they end up copying nearly every part of the old 2D games. So rather than feeling like a new game it feels like a cheap remake. Would please some people but would be an overall disappointment. People berate Sega and vow to never buy another Sonic game.

And this Eggman vs. Robotnik argument is ridiculous. It doesn't matter what his name was originally in Japan. American and European kids grew up calling him Robotnik, so of course they're going to want him to be called Robotnik again. I'd rather him be called Eggman though. That way we can continue to associate that name with the declining quality of Sonic games.

Finally.
They've finally seen the light and started thinking with some god damn sense.
It only took us about....12 years give or take to hammer this shit into their skull.

I really REALLY hope this'll be good, Sonic has always been great in 2D and if they cock this up there is really no hope left.

I have a feeling this will go over with little excitement.

Imagine if they released a sequel to Bad Dudes, but it was actually just Duke Nukem 2 with a new paintjob.

I imagine it'd be kinda like that.

Also, no, I don't like Sonic. It was never good, if you ask me.

I don't want to be a buzz killer, but I guess no one has considered this might actually suck? I mean, I really, really hope it doesn't, but well... it might.
What you talkin' 'bout willis?

You're killin' me smalls!

Damn, good point, but comeon, how could you fuck up something you've done amazingly at least 3 times?
Three times out of many. I'm just afraid that the game won't survive the need for modernization, because they can't make a game exactly like the 90's ones, but that was great part of it's charm. Nowadays, if it's overly simple like it used to be, people will complain it's more of the same and dull by today's standards.

But well, let's hope for the best, I'm sure they are able to make a kickass game out of this series (again).
No. Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles were kickass games. If they made it like Sonic and Knuckles it would be really, really good even if a little simplistic, but you've seen the new super mario bros. They added enough flavor to make it work out today and it outsold Galaxy.

Couldn't agree more. If this doesn't hit the back of the net, salvage what we can from Sega and bin em.

Sonic Team has acutely listened to their fans, and considering how die hard those fans are (making even the recent 3d games platinum hits) the sales of this game are going too be huge, and its about damn time.

Why not actually head over to SEGA's blog and read some information on the game before you judge it from a tiny clip designed just to give us a visual teaser of the first zone? How do <10 seconds of not even gameplay footage possibly demonstrate that you just "hold down forward forever till bored"? SEGA have already stated that gameplay will be a return to the more exploratory style of the originals, and that speed will be momentum based and 'a reward for playing well'. This is in fact the opposite of just holding down forward.
Who the fuck speeds UP while running UPHILL?
Momentum my ass!

Why should I believe what they are saying? The same company told us that Sonic 06 would be an return to the roots and we all know what happened with that..

I've also heard people complain that Sonic's eyes are green. Newsflash, they were green in Sonic 3 (on his sprite, not the title screen). People really do just want to find something to complain about. I've heard "deal with it, it's crap" about things before, but this time it's more a case of "deal with it, it might actually be good".
This is supossed to be green?
Firstly, show me where he actually speeds up going uphill (unless it's directly after a spin dash). Either way, you're ignoring my point that you're judging gameplay based on a few seconds of a demo intended to show the retro stylings of the level and the badniks, NOT the actual game mechanics in depth. Read the damned developer blogs, funnily enough they know more about the game than you do. Or am I wrong amd you're some kind of insider/genius/psychic and actually know MORE than they do? Again I state you are finding things to complain about that aren't there. Secondly, you posted a bad link, and finally, yes, if you look carefully at Sonic's sprite in Sonic 3 there is a faint green tint around the black pupil of his eye. Hence the iris is green. Seriously, load the game up and actually look at it.

So what about Sonic '06? That's 4 years ago now, and do you really think it's the same team that are making Sonic 4? Maybe, but it's highly unlikely. The team that made Sonic '06 are probably working on something completely different, as probably are the team who made Unleashed. After all, do you really think they aren't going to do an Unleashed sequel too? A lot of people bought that, they do have to cater for the newer fans too you know.

Anyone else thinking to themselves that in the year 2013 we'll all be going, "When's Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 3 coming out?"

Ah well. Just seeing a reborn Sonic makes me think of the hope and optimism of ELO's Mr Blue Sky.

Let's hope you don't trip up SEGA...
