I'd actually love for a game with a female lead and a bumbling male sidekick, kinda like a more serious-but-funny Kim Possible (Ah...childhood)

If you've read any of the Discworld novels, the best characters are always the women, like Granny and Nanny. Sir Pratchett himseld says: I can't write soppy female characters, because they've all got a hard centre underneath really

The problem is that females will call everything sexist to get attention. I don't play video games to be bombarded with PC quite frankly, you seem to make out there is a problem when there really isn't one.

All they do is play to the Demographic. If there was a Female lead and a Male sidekick, it'd probably get less game sales. (Note, however, that a Female lead on her lonesome does not produce the same results.)
That's because it's seen as a selling point of the female. For me the worst example is probably the Soul Calibur series, where the females would where next to nothing, wheras the males were fully armoured monsters. I'm just saying, if you were to go into battle, having a big open area in your armour in a place your opponent is probably looking, may not be the best of defensive choices. That and, is it just me, or were the female fighting moves (namely Ivy's) just that little bit more suggestive than the males? All that implies that whilst men are hardened battle warriors, the females are very bad hookers.

I honestly think most of the sexist moments in gaming can often be traced back to Team Ninja... I mean seriously I thought they were JOKING when they said that being able to control the jiggling of breasts would be a feature in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. God, thanks for putting in that extra effort to make gaming look like a sophisticated art form, really appreciate the effort guys.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't look for partners inside the gaming world at all. I just find it pretty funny when guys go, "Oh, I know, let's play -insert well known game here-. I'll go easy on you!" And then get their ass handed to them. Call it cruel, but I've never once warned someone when they've asked me to play a game assuming I'm going to be bad because I'm female.
Hahah, yeah I can see that.... it's an issue I tip toe around when trying to get my girlfriend to play games with me, because I don't want to 'go easy on her' but at the same time I don't want to discourage her from playing, so we usually stick to co-op.

RE4, whenever I climb down Ashley always waiting to fall into my strong manly arms and then possessing the nerve to call ME a Perv! when I use my Sniper Scope to make sure she's wearing clean underwear!

According to a recent poll on GAMEFAQS there are at least 6000 gamers who don't find games sexist in any way. Is anyone game enough to enlighten those gamers and detail some sexist moments they have come across in games?

Or maybe you're one of the at least 6000 who aren't detecting it? (I know it's not a very manly thing to admit a game might be sexist and perhaps most guys under a certain age aren't even aware of how subtle sexism can be).

I recently noticed it subtly in Halo ODST and blatantly in the script for Halo Wars. There's also questionable stuff like Conan (but that's kind of intentional) and I guess Ms Pac-man wearing bow in her hair could be considered sexist. Where do you draw the line?
Considering Conan was written in the 30's by a conservative Texan fellow, damsels tend to be in distress, with the exception of a few.

I used to have a game which was about war e.t.c. I found it unfair that there was no girl character you could pick. I mean, in any war there is usually a few girls.

Pity I can not tell you the name of the game but perhaps some of you have seen war games like this.

Here's two for you:

1) Uncharted 2, Elena can't take one grenade that is a little ways away. Drake can handle like five. Chloe is a sexy beast and a constant sex symbol for Nate,
though he goes for the good girl in the end anyway

2) Metal Gear Solid, not one female soldier other than the sniper that refuses to get close to you. Also Meryl - the only female soldier - , very typically, falls in love with Snake. Also, there is the "I could tell you weren't one of the male soldiers because of your ass" section.

The thing that annoys me is when people assume female gamers aren't as good as males.
Seriously, every girl I have played a game with kicked my ass up and down that game.
And I stand firmly by the idea girls are better at games.
I was raised to think that women and men are created equal, but as I age I'm learning that's generally not true at all. Point me to these skilled female gamers to help restore my old view of women.

Ironically, I hate it when the girls I know go easy on me because they think I have no skills. (maybe I really don't....)

i think it's really played up. sexism is there, yeah, but it's extremely played up. i mean, take half-life 2. alyx is, like, your guiding light in that game. gordon is apparently a little *****, because in episode two he can't even get out of a wrecked train without her help.

so yeah, some games are unintetionally sexist. some are blatantly sexist. but it's getting less prevalent, very rapidly.

possibly due to all the complain campaigns.

Also, if they are married, then there are two buttons which are "Have a Boy" and "Have a Girl" which is the way in which new people are created.
Wait. That's not how it really works?

WTH... SCHOOL FAILED ME! D:

OT: Been a long-time comic book reader, so I've long been pretty numbed to anything that would be considered "sexist", sadly.
