Instead of goofing around with this, they should port it [and Ico] to all the current gen consoles..no doubt I'll be branded a heretic for this..
If they ported it to PC I would buy it SO fast... well, assuming a non-stupid price and non-stupid copy protection.

It's gonna suck. The experience of this game comes from playing, being in this world. It just can't work as a movie.

I can sort of see how it would work...the concept of it being a movie that is but a movie by those 2? No. There's too much emotional complexity and moral issues (killing a living creature to bring back somebody we don't even know is quite telling) to have awful one-liners and ill-advised comic relief characters

"Hey Joe, let's adapt one of our most loved titles, which has been repeatedly cited as one of the greatest games of all time."
"Sounds good! Should we get someone who...will...do it well?"
"No. What? No. Ha. That's stupid. You're stupid."

Am I the only one who thinks A) animated, B) Ghibli? I can only assume the person whose idea it was to cast it as a lord-of-the-rings-style fantasy spent less time playing the game than they did reading about how much money lord of the rings made.

Normally these abominations just don't even faze me but...for some reason I have this taste of...bile...in my mouth.......and bullshit......but I can't seem to put my finger on why...

There was a tribal guy?

whatever

a bad movie will forever tarnish the sterling reputation of this game.

"Pretty neat" I said. Then I saw that first $*%&#*$ collosi. This game is the justification for the existence of the playstation 2.

I've heard about so many videogame movies, and it seems only 20% of those are actually released.

Anybody remember that Splinter Cell movie they were making?

I'd agree with you there: this type of movie would probably best be done animated, but even then it'd be hard to translate to a movie

Oh shit. Oh shit oh shit oh shit.

I don't know whether to be bouncing with glee or crying with agony.

Most likely the latter....

FUCK, don't screw this up, for God's sake don't screw this potential masterpiece up!
Murphy's Law. You cannot, and will not, escape its unholy wrath.
I would like to see it along the lines of "Children of Men" in terms of heartwrenchingness.
Feel free to suggest another, better movie to use as an analogy, as this is the only really good one I've seen.
Children Of Men is probably the best analogy we'll get. Although it's odd that we're comparing a movie that was, IMO, far better than it's source material (Children of Men) to a movie that will probably shame everyone who's even heard of the source material (SOC)

Yeah, there was an ad for it in Chaos Theory. I wonder what happened to that? I mean, that could actually have been good.

I am currently attempting to think of a way in which this will NOT fail. However: SotC was very cinematic, so I suppose in the right hands it could turn out ok. Maybe?

The key word there is right hands... and I really don't think the guy who made that awful Chun Li movie has them

Who would they choose to play Wander, I wonder? ^^ And the voice of Dormin?

I am inclined to think that this game is too subtle and clever for Hollywood. I will go and see it if/when they make it, if only to cry into my popcorn!

I'm willing to bet 20 bucks on that the next announcement they make goes around the lines of;

'Shadow of the Colossus-movie director, whatshisname, says there will be no colossi in the movie. Instead the main character fights orcs. In Mordo-, Modrok.'

This movie will be nothing but an insult to the game and gamers in general.

I find it a tad stupid that, when Hollywood fails to come out with any good film adaptations of video games, even with the simple ones, that should be an instantaneous hit (but then turns out to be crap), they decide to go with an even HARDER movie to make!

At least its not Uwe...
