It not about it being family friendly as much as getting as many asses in seats as possible.mirage202 said:A PG-13 Predator?
Thanks, but no thanks.
Honestly Hollywood if you aren't going to do this shit properly without making everything family friendly then please, just don't.
Fair point, same end result though. Watered down crap meant for mass appeal.Darks63 said:It not about it being family friendly as much as getting as many asses in seats as possible.mirage202 said:A PG-13 Predator?

It's why i wish Hollywood would push for reform and some cupboard cleaning at the MPAA instead of politicking and influence peddling with them.mirage202 said:Fair point, same end result though. True enough.Atmos Duality said:The only reason they're rebooting this (or anything) is simple: nostalgia exploitation.Grouchy Imp said:Oh for fuck's sake...
Why not build on a franchise, rather than constantly starting from square one?
By adding to a franchise, they have to take continuity into account and that requires putting actual effort into the writing; effort that takes time. It's much easier to just throw all the old continuity out the window and start over, which is much easier for the hacks to work with.
Hence, reboot instead of sequel.
I'm certain it's going to be mediocre at best, and absolute shit compared to the iconic original.
Of course, original thought is a cardinal sin in Hollywood these days, so that's just business as usual.
Very much this. The Predator universe is already huge. You can set a film at pretty much any time in human history or any time in the future, and having predators in it would be entirely consistent with the canon. It's such a waste to just make the same film again when you can quite literally make absolutely any film you like.Makabriel said:I agree, I loved pretty much all the movies with the Predator in it. But just continue the franchise. Why reboot it?
Iron Man 3 was sooooo bad. Before I saw that I liked Shane Black but now he's the Brett Ratner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So yeah. With you on that.AndrewC said:It's not like the film could be any worse than Iron Man 3 (MY GERSH DERN ERRPERRNYEN) right...? *nervous chuckle* C'mon guys, someone back me up here.
Back to the Future & Lethal Weapon are probably being eyed as well...Uriel_Hayabusa said:Well, there's still Rambo, Rocky, Indiana Jones and probably some others I'm forgetting, including more obscure properties. So yeah, this reboot craze can go on for quite some time if the folks in charge feel like staying that course.Sniper Team 4 said:But...why? I guess Honest Trailers wasn't kidding when they said, "What are they going to reboot next? Die Hard?" Seriously, they've done Robot Cop, working on Terminator, and now Predator. Die Hard is the only one left.
We don't need a Predator reboot. the original film has aged fine. We can still just go watch that. Why is this happening? Sigh...
