Why can't we get a Predators sequel? Also after the steaming pile of garbage that was Iron Man 3 there is no way I'll see this in the cinema

A PG-13 Predator?

Thanks, but no thanks.

Honestly Hollywood if you aren't going to do this shit properly without making everything family friendly then please, just don't.

It not about it being family friendly as much as getting as many asses in seats as possible.

Fair point, same end result though. Watered down crap meant for mass appeal.

I'm picturing the original movie but this time the hero is the wise-cracking radio operator.

I will boycott it if the reboot is not an 18 and even if it were an 18, it will take alot of convicing for me to even try to watched it!

It's why i wish Hollywood would push for reform and some cupboard cleaning at the MPAA instead of politicking and influence peddling with them.

...I think I'm starting to realized why "certain" movies would put down the number of people who were able to get a job working on a single movie...

OT: Uh... Okay?

I would have preferred an AvP reboot...[footnote]/halfsarcasm[/footnote] but I guess if we're going to do that, we better start with a rebooted Predator movie... Other than that, I have nothing against Shane Black and the fact that one of the executive producers was part of the original Predator movie is peaking my interest more than I'm willing to admit right now...

Considering Shane Black was the first guy to get iced by the Predator onscreen and can write a script as big as a house. I am stoked.

Oh for fuck's sake...

Why not build on a franchise, rather than constantly starting from square one?
The only reason they're rebooting this (or anything) is simple: nostalgia exploitation.
By adding to a franchise, they have to take continuity into account and that requires putting actual effort into the writing; effort that takes time. It's much easier to just throw all the old continuity out the window and start over, which is much easier for the hacks to work with.

Hence, reboot instead of sequel.

I'm certain it's going to be mediocre at best, and absolute shit compared to the iconic original.
Of course, original thought is a cardinal sin in Hollywood these days, so that's just business as usual.
True enough.

I guess when we're talking continuity then at least part of the blame for this (indeed any) reboot should be placed with the previous films. I know what you're saying about it being lazy writing, not needing to form your story and the story that came before it into a cohesive narrative, but what if the story that came before was AvP:Requiem? I can't blame any writer for wanting to pretend that particular, err, gem hadn't happened.

Of course, that's just me playing devil's advocate for the hell of it. It still doesn't excuse Hollywood's current obsession with rehashing old favourites as a substitute for creativity.

I agree, I loved pretty much all the movies with the Predator in it. But just continue the franchise. Why reboot it?
Very much this. The Predator universe is already huge. You can set a film at pretty much any time in human history or any time in the future, and having predators in it would be entirely consistent with the canon. It's such a waste to just make the same film again when you can quite literally make absolutely any film you like.

On a vaguely related note, I hope I'm not the only one who thinks "Pride and Predators" would have been a much better concept than "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".

Why reboot? WHAT IS THERE to reboot anyway? Is not like the movies have some intricate story line with fixed characthers that can get a new version.

Sure, they can re-design the Predator, maybe, most likely won't. So why reboot? Why not just make another sequel? If this is about the title, they can just use a subtitle or whatever.

It's not like the film could be any worse than Iron Man 3 (MY GERSH DERN ERRPERRNYEN) right...? *nervous chuckle* C'mon guys, someone back me up here.
Iron Man 3 was sooooo bad. Before I saw that I liked Shane Black but now he's the Brett Ratner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So yeah. With you on that.

Also, Predators was pretty damn good. Why can't we have more of that?

This shit's gotta stop. I'm never going to watch another Hollywood movie as long as I live. I mean, I saw them already, thirty and forty years ago, didn't I? Sometimes, I think, if 9/11 had to happen, why couldn't they have taken out Wall Street, Hollywood, and Las Vegas at the same time? Do us a favor.

Predator is an excellent action/monster movie that still holds up well today. There's no need to reboot it. You make your reboot, Shane, but I won't be seeing it. Also, Iron Man 3 wasn't that good.

But...why? I guess Honest Trailers wasn't kidding when they said, "What are they going to reboot next? Die Hard?" Seriously, they've done Robot Cop, working on Terminator, and now Predator. Die Hard is the only one left.

We don't need a Predator reboot. the original film has aged fine. We can still just go watch that. Why is this happening? Sigh...
Well, there's still Rambo, Rocky, Indiana Jones and probably some others I'm forgetting, including more obscure properties. So yeah, this reboot craze can go on for quite some time if the folks in charge feel like staying that course.
Back to the Future & Lethal Weapon are probably being eyed as well...

Well, with it apparently being a sequel that's a bit better, certainly.

That said, this doesn't let Hollywood off the hook for their reboot/remake fetish. They still need a collective smack across the snout with a rolled up newspaper for the ones they've inflicted on the world so far. Bad Hollywood! BAAAD HOLLYWOOD!

I really don't think this needs a reboot why not continue with where Predators left off? I really enjoyed Predators it was a good movie.
