"I don't know, really. I don't need to do anything in particular. But Tori and Lyla should join us; I could use the company." Jenna paused, twirling her hair around a finger. "It'll be good to see you, Micah. Like you said, we haven't met up for a while."

Josh flashed a smile to the young lady; he was liking this city already, "Well what I can do for you remains to be seen, but for now, I would love an escort to the store."

The two walked down the streets and struck up some small talk along the way, "You're right I'm not from a small town, I grew up in New York," he looked at the loud clothes Tori was wearing, "And if everyone dresses like you do I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb."

They arrived at the store, where Josh bought some smokes to take home. He noticed a trace of disgust on the girl's face, but she quickly masked it. He debated with himself for a moment and decided to ask the question, "So I was wondering, I don't know the town very well yet, wondering if maybe you could show me the sites?"

"Alright then, Jenna." Micah said to her before he said goodbye. "I'll see you in a little bit. Buh-bye."

Micah hung-up the phone with a slight grin on his face. He quickly searched through his phone, and went to call Tori next. He pressed 'Call' on her entry in his Contacts, and waited for her to pick up.

"See ya," Jenna said, hanging up on her end. Smiling at the prospect of something to do other than lounge around her house moping, she combed the knots out of her hair and changed clothes to a light blue short-sleeved shirt and a medium-length white skirt, adding her silver necklace and rings for extra flair.

"Hmmm... do I take my jacket?" A look outside convinced her otherwise, and she laughed. "Nope. Too hot for black." She finished packing her bag and sent a short text to her mother:

Tori tossed a couple bills on the counter, she grabbed her slushie and the two of them headed out. She opened the door and considered telling him the effects of cigarettes but decided against it, he didn't need a lecture,

"So New York eh? Always wanted to go there, you party hard there? You look like you could get ladies there pretty easily." Tori smiled and playfully punched him on the shoulder, it was nice to forget about Rick for a while and be a bit flirtatious, "As for the way I dress, I just wear clean shirts, this one is a bit loud but I don't care much."

They continued walking when Tori's phone rang,

"Hello? Ya sure I would love to, mind if I bring a new friend along? Alright, I will see you then bye." Tori hung up the phone and put it in her pocket, "Sorry about that, would you like to join me hanging out with some of my friends? I can show you around after that."

Drake was continuing his run working up quite a sweat. His exposed arms were glossed slightly from the sunlight as he continued his jog, and he kept his breathing paced. Fortunately he keeps this up as a morning routine when he has time so it didn't affect him too much. He continued to jog along the street as he finally saw the convenience store come into sight. As he ran he boosted up the music on his mp3 player keeping a steady flow of smooth jazz playing. Depending on his mood he could run to the tunes of smooth jazz, rock/metal and sometimes even Hip-Hop/Rap/R&B. He liked just about everything...so long as it wasn't country.

As he came within a few steps of the store he ended up having to jog in between two people. A guy and a girl just walking out of the store. The girl had just put down her phone and the guy was listening to whatever she was saying at the moment. It was really his fault that he bumped through them due to messing around with his music. He quickly turned into a backwards jog and said a bit louder then he needed to, "My Bad!" He had noticed slightly that girl had been in town a few times as for the guy he hadn't seen him.

He continued into the store and grabbed to bottles of orange juice. Walking up to the counter he quickly asked for the breakfast special and was givin a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Purchasing all of it he looked towards the clerk who smirked at him. "Drake man, all the time you are late. You are lucky I save these for you." Drake couldn't help but smile. The clerk at this store always engaged in little chit chats with him. Drake replied with a chuckle, "Hey, it's because I'm that good of a customer. Thanks as always Merv." With that he walked back outside and scanned around for a place where he could eat his things and then job back home. He was actually quite tired so he leaned against the front wall of the store huffing slightly.

Lyla had gone to her room after she had helped her mother make a cup of coffee. Her mother wasn't paying attention so there was no point in talking to her. She slumped down onto her bed, resting her elbows on her knees. I don't want to be in this house anymore. I need to get out.

Lyla reached for her car keys and bolted out of the house. She got into her car, turned it on, and just started driving. She opened her phone and dialed Jenna's number.

Micah grabbed the keys to his dark gray Scion Tc and prepared to leave the house. He grabbed his wallet, cellphone, and sunglasses, before leaving and locking up. He called Lyla's cellphone to see if she wanted to come along to lunch with them.

"Call Lyla." He said, using the phone's voice-dial feature. He started up his car, and waited for Lyla to pick up.

Unfortunately Jenna hadn't answered her phone when Lyla called, so she decided to keep driving around instead. After a few minutes her phone rang again and she answered. She was happy to see that it was Micah.

"Hi Micah! I haven't see you or talked to you in a while. So what's up?"

"Not much, Lyla." Micah said hello to her. "Jenna, Tori and I going out to lunch. You want to come with? I think Tori's bringing someone she just made friends with."

Micah paused for a moment and then asked Lyla a question.

"Lyla... What happened at the party? I heard that Nate got pretty shook-up. Did he and Jessica break up or... what's the deal?"

Ryan walked around his moderately priced hotel room. It was pretty standard compared to the others he had been staying in. Bed, TV, chair, all the basic components were there. At least this one had WiFi. And a balcony.

He went outside and just stood there overlooking the city. He could see the beaches and he could see the winding streets going around the buildings that imposed over the landscape. "This ain't so bad. I could get used to this place."

Jenna checked her phone again, in case Micah had needed to call back. The phone read:
Code:
1 missed call: Lyla. Call back?
"Damn. Oh well. I'll see her soon enough," Jenna said as she went into the kitchen and grabbed a biscuit from Ben's "secret" stash.

"The party.." Lyla rubbed her cheek without realizing it. The slap she had received from Amanda had given her a bruise. "He did break up with her. She went running back into the house, grabbed her friends and then stormed out of the house. It was funny."

Lyla cleared her throat and continued. "All of that happened after the fight though.."

Josh smiled, "The more people I meet the better; I just got here might as well meet the people."

He thought to himself, how much more open it was here, more dare he say wholesome, than New York, "Ya New York is good for parties, but as for woman...they're bitches, that's the only way to describe them." He stopped talking about it abruptly, as it raised some bad memories.

He moved to change the subject, "So these people we're meeting, who are they exactly?"

I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

"...Beautiful day, hot as all hell but nice regardless."

"Good enough for some Beatles, Jim?"

"Damn fine enough for some Beatles, Tim. This is KYGB rock, keeping your city musical. All You Need Is Love."

A stream of golden light struggled to break through the blinds that barricaded the room from the outside world. The radio alarm-clock gently gave way to the soft seventies quartet, a calming melody that made Nathan turn his head the other way.

Everything felt wrong. Although he slept well into the morning or even afternoons, he always felt tired. The drinking probably didn't help. With a heavy sigh, he peeked over his pillow to the calendar on his wall.

It had been three days since the party. His life since had been one of isolation; one third sleeping, another drinking, and the rest sweating away the summer heat in the backyard. Summer was usually his favourite season, but no longer. The stifling hot muffled his mouth and tightened his collar, an irremovable infliction that cold showers just couldn't remedy. Even the growing outside pressures were beginning to envelop and suffocate his mind.

Grudgingly, he rose from the mess of white sheets on his bed, his athletic body bare but for a pair of boxers. Scratching at the grown brown hair that surrounded his mouth and jaw, he stumbled across the room toward a metal-and-glass desk. His Blackberry sat limply, with a screaming 26 MESSAGES to greet him. Though the device was on, he hadn't touched it in days. Funny- plenty of texts, but not a single person had come to his door. He stroked the clear screen hesitantly, but turned away instead.

Breakfast... And beer.

"Oh just a couple of friends, if you don't want to go you don't have to. The more people you meet the better though." Tori shrugged and they continued walking toward her house, "Do you want to just hitch a ride with me, or do you have your own car?"

They continued walking for a few minutes before Tori stopped walking,

"Oh jeez, I just remembered, I just have to call somebody hold on." she continued again as she pulled out her phone, finding Nate in her speed dial she called him, "Come on Nate, pick up this time."

As Drake leaned on the front of the store catching his breath he was finally feeling up to walking once more. Lifting up from the side of the store he looked back and noticed a smudge that he had left on the front glass due to his sweat. Any other time how would have cleaned it but this was the most used store. It had smudges all over and his just blended in with the rest. He couldn't really accept that though so he pulled out a napkin and wiped away the sweat from the window. With that he turned back towards his house and began his walk back. He began to unwrap his sandwich and bit into it a few times before, twisting the cap of his OJ and sipping it. It clicked in his head not too long as he reached in his back pocket and popped the two pills he had been meaning to take. As the worked their way into his system his eyes warped slightly as he looked to the sky. He still couldn't fully handle the effect of them so his paced slowed as he finished eating.

About halfway back he looked to the street noticing all the cars whizzing by and a nearby parking lot. Looking over. He sat down at a bench for a moment as a dew of the pedestrians walked past looking at him for various reasons. He finished his sandwich and down the rest of his juice. Looking to the left ad shot both the items into the waste bin near him and sat back for a moment to plan out what he would do today.

"There was a fight?" Micah asked Lyla. "Oh my God, who was it between?"

He pulled up to Jenna's house, rolled down his windows, and honked the horn a few times.

"What was the fight over?" Micah asked another question to Lyla as he waited for Jenna to exit her house.

Jenna heard the horn, snatched her bag off the table, did a quick check that all the doors and windows were locked, then hurried outside, locking the front door behind her. She whistled appreciatively at Micah's car and got in the passenger side. "Hey," she said, smiling.

Wow... it's really been a while since I last met up with Micah, she thought as she got in.

"Hey, Jenna." Micah said to his friend as she got into the car. "Good to see you."

Micah gave Jenna a one-armed hug, and continued talking on the phone.

"I'm on with Lyla, right now." He said to Jenna. "Sorry Lyla, I just picked up Jenna. Here, I'll talk to you when we're at lunch. You can finish telling me there. Alright, see you then... Bye."

Micah hung up his phone, and turned his attentions back to Jenna.

"So, you have an idea of where you want to go?" Micah asked. "Or would you rather I pick the place?"
