My buddy kept complaining about my Facebook posts about Formula 1, always commenting on them that I need to watch a "real" sport. I told him to watch one episode of the series Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix; he refused for the longest. But when I recently changed my profile picture to that of Valtteri Bottas' car, and he popped in with his usual disparaging nonsense, he got fed up and agreed to watch ONE episode... two days later, he'd binged all four seasons, and is now hooked. He watched the first race of the season, and he kept texting me like a teenage girl. After the race he called, more excited than me, and we talked about the race for an hour.
In 2023, they might be adding a third US Grand Prix in Las Vegas, and he's dead set on going. I'm try to talk him down as that's going to me MASSIVELY expensive, i.e.: the Austin Grad Prix just 3 hours south of me would likely cost upwards of $3,000 between tickets, gas, hotel stay and food, so I can only imagine VEGAS would double if not triple that given flights would be involved and it's fucking Vegas, but he's been radicalized. I think he might be a bigger F1 fan than me now, and he's only seen two races!.
