Despite all the problems I've had with my desktop computer, today I achieved a minor victory by replacing the hard drive of my laptop (released in late 2003) with an SSD. It was my test bench for updating Windows 7 to 10, which made startup take way longer; now with the SSD, it's gone from needing 2 1/2 minutes to fully start up to about 25 seconds.
