Classic car racing in general but watching giant American muscle cars versus tiny British touring cars in particular.
I was considering re-reading that series. I forgot how much I loved some of her take downs on machoness.
OT: Speaking of machoness! This clip amuses me to no end.
Now, I fucking hate Jo Jo. Or namely, I fucking hate the level of zealous memeing it's fans seem to have. To the point where there are memes about jojo memes that jojo fans make. But, I do find the Piller Men theme song genuinely fucking badass, and do find it funny when that is inserted into random things. But this clip, I just find so damn amusing. It's mostly her muffled screams of lustful overreaction.

I actually think Jo Jo in and of itself is the most obnoxious shit in anime. And its fans who seem to speak only in memes and references, like I assume Dreamworks movies will eventually all sound like, have nought but my contempt.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's the other way around though. And that the people who made pikachu probably saw these little buggers and were like "yoink!"

I do love that first one of the 3 you shared. I'm very familiar with it. At work so I can't watch the other 2.

Watching that, I was afraid for those little cars seeing what I have seen at the Tracks in the US over the years, and it is good that they didn't have more American muscle cars on that track with aggressive drivers or they would have destroyed those smaller cars tossing them aside like tinker toys. Still, on my parents farm in 2nd barn, are a stack of muscle cars that were destroyed hitting the wall, sent airborn, rolled, and/ or exploded. One of my brothers is still taking parts off some of the smashed Cudas there to rebuild another 1971 Baracuda in the garage. My Dad preferred to drag race, but my uncle liked the round track, so they built both there. Seeing how badly those cars can get destroyed on the track like that, the thought of what they would do to those little cars is terrifying tbh.
That was scary to watch for me. LOL
I thought it was based on these Pikas rather than the American ones, but I would assume they sound the same either way:
Iirc, the name pikachu is a portmanteau of the Japanese onomatopeia for the sound a mouse makes (chu) and electrical sparking (pikapika), and the similarity in name with pikas is just an unlikely but happy coincidence.
I have to think they would have at least seen these Asian Pikas though because they actually LOOK like Pikachu, not just sound like them. That would be just too weird of a coincidence that they have the same markings and coloring as well.
Maybe it's a grabbag of inspirations. Like Pikachu's visual design is inspired by a squirrel, but while looking for animals they came across pikas, which in turn reminded them of the pikapika electric sparking onomatopeia. And since pikas look like mice (tho they're not rodents, but closely related to rabbits), they added the mouse noise onomatopeia, and that's how the name came to pass, as well as the electrical powers.
What squirrel looks like that?! A squirrel is like one of the last things I would have thought of for the design. HAHA!
Some of these Asian Pikas though are yellow and black looking with the same weird markings.
