Should I give in?

Hello!
Right, I'm in a dilemma. I'm having fairly strong urges to start playing WoW again, and I've been WoW-free for about 2 weeks now, although my time on it has lowered a lot in the previous month. As part of my "quitting", I uninstalled the game and deleted the directory, as you would, so I couldn't play it. I bid my farewells on the realm forum, and continued with my life.

Periodically, I do check WoW.com and MMO-Champion so that I'm not out of the loop fully. I'm aware of the changes that are happening in game, and what's changing about my class. The story also interests me so I do tend to read spoilers on upcoming raids, etc.

But the past week or so, I've been wanting to return. Despite having bought some new games via Steam, and playing old favourites (Mass Effect :D), I'm incredibly bored. I spend a lot of my time just arsing about on the web - Posting here, browsing funny websites, watching the odd DVD, and I just feel so bored. I'll play GTA for an hour or two, then Puzzle Quest, then maybe finish up with some Mass Effect. Hell, I think I spent 3-4 hours one night reading a funny blog website.

I do have a job, although my hours are pretty random (I go in when they need me, basically. Weekends are almost always worked, and I do the odd few week days), so I tend to have a nice amount of time to fill.

Any thoughts are well appreciated.

Dont go back to WoW man, you can be strong!
Find a new game maybe? Borderlands is pretty fun, not much of a story, but it is very fun to play, and addictive as you search for new guns/loot. The enviroments and enemys are fun and the graphics are lovely.
You could wait a bit for Left 4 Dead 2, that looks really quite good, new weapons, zombies and new style.
Any of these take your fancy?

Borderlands is something I think I wouldn't mind playing, but I don't have any... interest in it. I know it exists, and I know it's got good reviews, but I'm not in that "Oh wow, I must get that" area with it.

And L4D2? One of my friends has advised me just to get the first one, which I think I might at some point. Gonna download the demo tomorrow, just to see if it's any good.

Shooters aren't something I'm overly interested in, though. I've got FC2 and I enjoyed it. Got FEAR + Ext. Point, and they were OK.

What genres are you interested in?
Dragon Age: Origins has just come out and that?s supposed to be good once you get the hang of the combat
If you?re into RTS's, then there is a quite excellent free one out there, I'll see if I can find it for you:
http://www.battleforge.com/en/home/ (I hope this doesnt count as advertising, if so, I'll remove it straight away)
Can?t think of any more at the minute, sorry

I half expected you to say something along the lines of "post this onto 10 other threads in 13 minutes, or a clown will be under your bead tonight"

Give in, once you enter... you can never leave.

Seriously though, if you don't want to play it, don't. And if you do, do. Don't listen to ther people, just do what you want to do.

You could take up a hobby or something outside of gaming. Instruments are always fun, by no means easy, but the payoff is great. The feeling of accomplishment from writing something or mastering a song is just amazing(for me at least).

Really, WoW isn't as bad as people think it is. If you want to play it, play it. As long as you don't let it consume you, it's alright. Do your homework, don't neglect your friends/GF, etc.

I did fine playing WoW for three years, and my grades have been fairly high all along. I DID quit WoW a couple of months ago, but that was because of boredom.

Go outside, you prick. You're not going to find yourself laying on your deathbed saying "I wish I'd played more World of Warcraft."

Go ahead and start playing again. Just be careful not to lose track of time, so it doesn't interfere with your schedule. Don't overdo it. If you have to, set an exact amount of time every day that you can play, then adhere to that. But if you want to do it, have the money and the time, then do it.

It always amuses me the way former WoW players always talk like reformed alcoholics. No offense, it's just funny.
"Hi everyone. My name is Alan."
"Hi Alan."
"I haven't played WoW in two weeks."
*Appreciative Claps All Around*
"Th-thank you."

My advice: Just make sure you don't devote your life to it. It's okay to play once in a while, but seriously: there's better things out there.

I think the major problem with WoW and most other MMO's, for me anyways, is the lack of a feeling of completion. I like to know that I'm done with a game. I would suggest playing an alternative to WoW that has a definite end to it. You will get your fix, but it's still a finite amount of time with something.

As another poster had mentioned, find a hobby outside of gaming as well. Mine's golf :).

if you felt that you needed to do all that to quit, then going back is a bad idea. i would have to recommended getting out of the loop completely, stop visiting the sites. thats probably not helping.

but if you must go back, set guidelines for yourself.

Lol sorry to break the news to you but its only been two weeks and you are already thinking about going back? Im pretty sure you should just give in and go back because you will go back sooner or later if you cant go two weeks without craving it.
