THey should ax the franchise and or atleast explain more of the plot, like why the GOvernment is evil
Obviously, the government is evil because they keep everything clean, safe, and don't like runners delivering contraband goods.
Or there's, you know, the whole "surveillance, murdering political rivals, police state" stuff.
The only reason why we know its a police state is because the criminals who transport contraband for a living say that it's a police state. Not exactly reliable sources. Also, since when is surveillance evil? If you think every first world country out there doesn't keep tabs on its citizens, you should read the newspaper more.

On topic: I didn't think much of Mirror's Edge. For all its visual wizardry, it wasn't a very deep game. It was highly repetitive, with minimal AI and a run of the mill "dystopian future" story.
I don't get the highly repetitive thing, saying mirror's edge is repetitive is like saying every shooter every made is repetitive because you just shoot things, and the world they created was way better then the main story, but you had to really read a lot into it, I really don't get where this repetitive thing is coming from[/quote]
It is repetitive because they never change the nature of the game. First you run from police in a blue industrial setting, then you run from police in a green industrial setting, and then you run from police in a sewer. They took one small concept (first person parkour) and made a whole game out of it without exploring any other ideas.

Fair enough, but what about Pope's murder? That was orchestrated by the mayor.

Nope. Shouldn't have even made Mirrors Edge one. It was more of a proof of concept demo than an actual game. Can we make a first person jumping game where the "hero" hardly ever shoots or stabs anyone? Apparently so. Now, if only it had been more interesting beyond the gimmick of the free running (or parkour if you like to sound pretentious), it would be worth playing.

I wouldn't mind it if they did. If they added a free roam element and gave you more
camera control (clinging to a ledge and slowly turning around while being shot at isn't
nice)
I would probably rent it to see if it was any good first though...

George W. Bush falsified claims about Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction, leading to the deaths of thousands of people. Who is to blame, the entire American government or George W. Bush?

Yeah I definitely think it should be made because the idea is wonderful. They just need to take more time with it. I really hope that it is made and it brings everything to light.

I...uh...what?

This was a top-down conspiracy. That's why they included characters like Miller and Ropeburn: so you'd see how far the rot spread.

no, but the concept deserves another run.
This... I really liked the gameplay, the way you controlled your character, the moves, etc. The city, story, universe, replayability and overall limitations to specific paths however sucked.
how is the city bad, did you not like the design or something, main story was bad giving you that, universe is awesome(though they need to explain more of it so idiots can understand it), as for the replayability time trials speed runs, and it is fun to play the game again, much like the original sonics and you weren't as limited as you think you are, but it could use an open level system I think, open world would be too much
The city is just too shiny, and every building looks exactly the same.. theres no real variety, thats what I dont like about the city... Also, how can you say that the universe is awesome? We know basically nothing about it from the game, its like they just said "Government is bad, carrying bags and killing cops is good", theres no lore, no information you can find by exploring, nothing.

And sure, you have the time trials, but how many times can you do that 40 second level just so you can squeeze .01 second from your previous record before you get bored?
Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is awesome, and the controls are great (at least on PC), but the single player just feels unfinished and rushed. The time trials and downloadable time trial maps just don't cut it.

A similar game on the same engine made by a totally different company could be 10x better. (Like Fallout 3 compared to Hellgate London)

In my opinion: Mirror's Edge 2? Probably no. New game with the same concept but more time spent on it? hell yes!
Well it's a modern futuristic city where there is no freedom, yea not to many artists thrive, as for the universe we know a lot of it, just most ppl don't pay enough attention. Government is monitoring, banning and taxing almost everything to control everything in the name of "safety" so basically if you take a piss in a public place or send a email, they know about it and everything on the email all this really started to take off after the November riots, the last public stand against the government where cops beat and killed many protesters including Faiths mom, enter runners they are the only means of getting anything anywhere without the government knowing about it, they work most importantly for ppl like the ones at the riots (they do small jobs to for normal ppl that just don't like the government looking at their stuff or for some reason it's illegal), ppl trying to stop the government from getting anymore control they are the only ones keeping the official opposition a float, opposition like the Pope, who got killed because the government is starting to take more direct actions, they are starting to take out the runners network, meaning Faith and everyone Faith cares about, it's not so much as killing cops is good, it's just you don't particularly mind wasting the bastard who's shotting at you when you don't even carry a weapon, and the bags are just way you carry your stuff in, and even Miller didn't mind wasting PKs (private security brought in to "help" the police, but really just trying to take out runners) then there's project Icarus, that info is what really got Pope dead, cops that can follow runners on the roofs to their drop then take out the runner and gather information on the drop and the one receiving the drop, luckily they still haven't finished their training so they weren't that hard to lose, now the shard the final place, that's were all the information goes and is sorted through but when faith busted the servers to open the door, she took out most of the monitoring they were doing on the city and that's going to have serious consequences, enough of a universe for you? next time pay more attention and maybe you can figure it out for yourself, also jacknife is faith's ex, that one is really subtle as for the time trials they add another 5-20 hours depending on your goal and how good you are

I loved Mirrors Edge, it was a great game, not perfect, but no ones perfect on the first run. I mean it was the only game of its kind, theirs gonna be some screw ups. I think that's why the sequel should come out, they can correct their mistakes and do the free running better this time. Also they shouldn't release their game between two of the biggest blockbusters games coming out that year, its just bad for business as they say.

I would love a sequel. Honestly, the only problem I had with it was that it was short. The storyline and the clean and bright aesthetics worked for me.

And also, the menu with the fly-by view of the city made me think about what could be added to the sequel if they do make one: gameplay in that big ocean/lake the city's by. Maneuvering a boat would be fun. Not much to do with free running but it's still fun. Oh, and it would be cool to interact with some civilians.
