Played it yesterday for a few hours since a buddy of mine got it (legally) early on PS3.
Yes, it looks nice, but why does everything else feel the same? The same weightless physics, the same horrible character animations (not yourself, 3rd person looks fine, it's the NPCs that are still shit), the same awkward standstill conversations (though now not as zoomed in, and sometimes they even move their hands), the same absolutely idiotic AI...

Now, I had some fun with Oblivion, it's a good game, especially for its time, but why is the ONLY damn thing they've improved over the years the graphics? They've had so much time, yet most of the stuff we get is directly ported over from Oblivion. Worst was when two characters were standing in front of each other, completely motionless (save for their faces), shouting at the top of their lungs something like 'OH MY GOD A DRAGON WTF WTF WTF'. I mean, shit. Another thing was when a character runs for his life (again, with the exact same character animations of people running in Oblivion), then when he's reached his waypoint he turns around to meet you super damn slowly like everything is alright.

It's like they took all the (valid) criticism they got with Oblivion (a good game, but by far not perfect) and just decided to disregard EVERYTHING.

Oh well, it'll still be a nice walk-in-the-mountains simulator.

EDIT: before I get even more fire. It's not that I don't enjoy this game. I love walking in the mountains. It's just that it could've been better and they could've done something with the critique they got last time.

EDIT #2: Naturally, everyone assumes I am 'trolling'. Problem is, I really have played the game. How? It was released here yesterday. http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=skyrim+netherlands&meta=

FINAL EDIT: Well guys, the game is out. All you skeptics and troll callers can now suck it. The animation of everyone except the protagonist is indeed as bad as I told you. Their movement is awkward, and they constantly run into walls and into each other. I lost count of how many times either me or my conversational partner have been shoved aside by another NPC. They turn around as slowly as I told you. They glitch and bob up and down stairs. The combat animations are still dry and dull, and they only they added are finishing moves (that don't even look spectacular thanks to ancient rag dolls). Does this make it a bad game? No, it still doesn't. Was I right about my criticism? Yes. I will now accept your written apologies.

I don't think any (or many, as the case may be) of us can debate this with you as the game hasn't been officially released yet. Let me get back to you on this.

So, in essence, you thought it was a waste of money... Well, I'll buy it anyways. One person's word and the like. Can't dissuade me with one negative review.

Thats a little disheartening to hear, although not entirely unexpected.
Although i'll have to decide for myself once i get it and hopefully the PC modders can fix anything i dont like.

You know what... call me an patsy but that's all I really wanted. There's only so much that could be done with mods with Oblivion. I'm just after more of what Oblivion was, but prettier.

From what i have seen in reviews and such this should not be the case. Would be weird that those reviews just skip over something like you describe as is should be super obvious. Those reviews are for PC though so i could indeed be that the console version is just crappier. I think you just had a bug or bad luck though. I did see the near-weightless physics though, in that trailer where the dragon picks up a giant and drops it, that does look weird. Other than that i think (well, hope)that you are just having some bad luck.

This can all be explained by the fact that the Skyrim team apparently considered it Fallout 3's spiritual successor.

It's fine that you're happy with it, hell, I'm not THAT bummed myself. But you gotta admit they could've at least given some stuff an upgrade. Even if it's just removing those horribly silly ragdolls or something. Anything, really. Just not nothing, which they did now.

Uhhh... from the netherlands and playing the game early legally? I seriously doubt that. I have a feeling this is just an attempt to bash skyrim without actually playing it.

I'm not making this up, bro. I really wish I was. It's not a bug if it happens constantly throughout the course of a few hours play. It's simply a retextured Oblivion.

I don't want to bash Skyrim. Hell, I said in my OP I actually kind of enjoy it and that I like Oblivion. The local store (I know the owner) got his copies in yesterday, my friend bought it for PS3 (I don't have a console, and on the PC the release date actually is locked because of Steam) and we started playing it without any problems.

Me too, probably. Still I'm kind of disappointed. Could've been a lot better, that's all I'm trying to say in this thread :)

There is something I wonder about. Can we please start an Elder Scrolls game without being arrested?! It gets tiresome to start the game there every time whenever I'm playing any Elder Scrolls game (other than Daggerfall, which is just buggy.).
