Skyrim...have you cheated?

If you count waiting 30 in game days for an ebony mine to respawn its ore, then yes. otherwise, no (this is coming from an xbox owner) i havent. and i am putting "game glitches" in place of "console commands". The infinite book spawn, training your whatever by using this person or that person. No, im playing it all legitimate.

Simple question for all you Skyrim players out there. In all your hours of playtime, have you used console commands for anything other than buggy quests?

If the answer is "No": Would you consider it?
If the answer is "Yes": What was it that made you give in and press that temptress that is the Tilde key?

First playthrough: buggy quests, stuck in the shrubbery, door not opening, quest giver gone missing (probably eaten by a dragon)... after I resolved the dragon situation, I went full tilde and started lugging tons of crap around.

And I, of course, went console to make neat screengrabs without the gamey HUD and stuff.

Then I went completely bonkers for a little while and tried out all the graphics fixes and patches... and made some more screengrabs.

Now I got rid of all the manipulations and I am about halfway through my second, quite different stroll through Skyrim. Just over the weekend, I found a new annoying bug. Quest giver not realizing he told me to do something, so I am now slightly stuck because he gave me a proper quest (good) but he still thinks I am trespassing as I use the key he gave me to enter the location he told me to go do things in (bad). Since I would like to not having to resort to the console, life in Skyrim has been been somewhat harsh as of late. But still amusing.

Also, does using the console for buggy quests disable the achievements?

I believe achievements are only disabled until you restart the game, at least that's how it worked in FNV.

I haven't used console commands aside from tcl when I can't find a path up a mountain or I get stuck in some rocks. For the most part cheating ruins the game for me.

That's one temptation I could resist so far.

Still, even in my second visit to Skyrim, I still end up running and jumping around mountains. The map is ridiculously useless.

At least I could stay away from getting a horse so far, so I don't have to worry about it falling to a crumpling death when I am ten foot away from my destination after eternal minutes of navigating myself around rocky mountain bits with lots of opportunities for some free-fall action.

Hell yes I used exploits, not on my first character though. If it weren't for that exploit where you can raise pretty much any effect or combat skill by using it on your Tutorial escort I wouldn't have started my new Shield/One-Handed character, too long for me to want to search all those fucking pots and barrels in ruins again.

The only time I used console commands was to get through the door in a bugged out quest and when I was showing my friend the game and went toe to toe with a bunch of thalmor with none of my equipment and playing on a touchpad (I threw god mode on), but I reloaded that save cause I didn't feel like leaving my quest area. Other than that, no unless you count quicksave/load as cheating.

I always cheat the first time if I can (ie xbox playstation can't) a quick play through the end then restart with no cheats or as I like to call em "assists" cause I don't use major ones like give myself uberstuff stuff or god mode just noclip and regular stuff if possible. Unless the game fustrasted me to hell then I go overboard in retaliation, I really don't like headaches.

I used it twice. The first time was to experiment and see if I could DE some equipment and then I reset my stats to where they were, and the second was because my game glitched and decided to close a door I had opened earlier and try to shaft me through a giant cave so I said fuck that noise, so I would believe I havn't really cheated

I've used the console commands to respec my perks, and when I switched from a caster build to a melee build I switched my mana/stamina attributes to be a bit more effective.

Also I've changed my race a couple of times.

I've used it to let my followers actually scale with me in level and stats as opposed to getting one shot by anything worth fighting at higher levels.

Well I've used tcl on mountains that I really didn't feel like navigating and tgm on a certain part I couldn't get past in the labyrinthian ( bloody fireball flame-thrower thing), but that was all on my first character. I'm currently on my fifth and well, most mountains I now know which way to get up them so don't use tcl any more and that thing in labyrinthian isn't any problem on my other chars.

No, I play it on PS3, so I'm not able to cheat as far as I know.
Wouldn't if I could either. Only to bypass glitches or bugs(had to restart my 90 hour save due to a gamebreaking bug...).

Yes, I have, because I don't give a shit.
I guess I've only truly cheated to give myself gold, which I do regularly.
I gave myself the Greybeard Hood as well because I thought it looked badass, but that isn't really cheating.
I will probably do that with other un-obtainable clothes, too.

In another sense, I guess this could be cheating: I'm giving myself Daedric Swords and Bows to enchant, but I have already unlocked them in Smithing so it's not really illegitimate.
I'm only doing this because my game is bugged and I cannot recharge enchanted items with ANY Soul Gem, though I have multiples of all types filled in my inventory...
So I make exact copies of my previous Daedric weapons for when the previous one runs out.
I guess it's fair, because if I wasn't bugged I could and would recharge them like usual.

So that's not really cheating.
But I give myself money because I really cannot be fucked to grind it or whatever.

Nope, Playing on the 360 is basically impossible to cheat the only thing ive done is check where one of the fire breath words were. And I would never consider cheating, cheating is for the PC master race, regular PC gamers are cool.

I don't like to cheat on my first play through a game. Abusing game mechanics is fair game though. So I've gotten my crafting and enchanting up to stupidly high levels.
