Skyrim....

I dint like it... Dont get me worng i play it and found it decent but noffing special. Its overhyped in my opinon.

And before you sods out there start russing trypeing things like

''Dont juge the game before the 20 hour mark'' or somting like that its worth rembering that i can in 3 hours playing somting like Castlevaina OOC and enyoing my self vile i play skyrim for 3 hoursand found it lacking

Am i the only one who see that this game is burtalishly OverHyped?
Fans will always overhype "their" game.

Thing is, Skyrim is fundamentally a far better game than Oblivion. In Oblivion, I never really felt I wanted to explore things. Skyrim makes me want to explore the dungeons just to see what they have in store. The combat is improved enough to make it really enjoyable.

Some enemies may be easy to dispose of, but you always need to be on your toes, because you never know what comes next. When doing some dungeons I get an Indianna Jones vibe even. Solving dungeon puzzles is rewarding and fun.

Oblivion left me wanting to find and download a shitload of mods to make the game better.
Skyrim leaves me wanting to see what comes in the next Elder Scrolls game.

Um...so you have a different opinion? Congratulations? Don't really see the discussion value here because it'll just turn into a flame war.

Haven't played Skyrim myself yet, I plan to do that after I finish Oblivion...which will probably be sometime next year. And I started in 2008. Not really the kind of game I can play for long periods of time I find.

I actually had really low expectations of Skyrim. I hated Oblivion and expected to hate Skyrim, but I found myself pleasantly surprised. It's not the greatest RPG ever, but I'm enjoying it.

Yay! Thanks, dude! Hang on a minute. Ahem. Must get out of my proffesional tone. AMEH...!

I know, right? The only valid arguments against Skyrim I've come across are about the menu system and interface and whatnot. But we must be patient. We will learn to love it in time. It's like a new cat. It may claw your face open, but that's just means it loves you. Or hates you...Or....SHUT UP!

What I can't understand is how people can complain about the graphics. They look AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the best graphics I've ever seen in a game.
Ok, so I know it makes sense to click reply, but that only means reply to the thread. Quote is the button you want to hit. ;)Just saying this because you're getting a little confusing to follow here..

This game brought back a lot of memories of the time i lived with my grandparents on a farm in the mountains.

Right down to the dragons.

But you're not supposed to know that.

Wow, you really don't like correct spelling and grammar do you?

OT: I've not played Skyrim, but from the reviews I've seen it seems to be a pretty damn well-received game. By definition, it doesn't seem over-hyped. A game is over-hyped if there is a lot of build-up and expectation that is then not met by the end product (see Duke Nukem Forever), but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Fair enough not liking it and although I agree it was hyped so much by generating so much enthusiasm from a few trailers and very little released gameplay, I don't think it has let me down on any fronts - in fact it exceeded my high expectations.

So no, I don't think it was overhyped

By the definition of "over-hyped", Skyrim isn't because the community isn't hating it. In fact, they're worshiping it.

I didn't like the game, but everyone else does, so it isn't over-hyped. Simple as that.

It's okay if you want to throw a tantrum and get banned, it can be cathartic. But you're contradicting yourself every other sentence, and desperately trying to prove you don't care. If you really didn't care, would you continue to post long (albeit poorly thought out) rants? I doubt it.

The reason I'm calling you out is because you were horribly rude to the OP and using so many profanities in most of your sentences which is why I know the mods will find this and will punish you (Well deserved at this point)
Y'all are aware that if you think a post has contravened forum policy, the proper way to deal with it is to report and ignore, right? Not to keep winding the person up and taunting them with the possibility of their impending ban. Killer12480 was being a spaz, but you guys are just piling on to pile on at this point. Buncha bullies.
I don't think I was bullying, but I apologize if anyone felt that way.

Okay. It seems I did not type my last comment fast enough. I am trying to change the subject. I apologized, and added a friendly comment talking about the game, the reason we're all here. I am not overcompensating. I just get really mad when people say negative things about a game that I like. Maybe I was too mean. Oh well. We are all human. We do things we regret, then we forget about them. And I think we should all do the same.
It's fine, we all get pissed at the internet sometimes. Oh, and when you want to reply to someone you should use the quote button, because then they get a notification, and it's easier for them to reply as well.

Coming from someone who in general never liked the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim is the first of their games that have positively surprised me.

Overrated? I'd say yes, since some people (including here on the escapist) seems to hold it up as some form of manifestation of Christ.

However, it's still a very good game, and above all else, it's much more competently executed than all the Elder Scrolls games before it. It's the first time i don't regret a purchase of a game from that series (and i even got the earlier titles at bargain bin price compared to the full price i paid here).

I LOVE this game. If anything it wasn't hyped enough. As someone who enjoyed Fallout 3 more than Oblivion, I think this is the best game I've played in a very long time... if not ever.

Excuse me, but did you even read your comment before you hit "Post"? It looks like you hit the keys with your elbows until there was about a paragraph of whiny ***** and spit on the screen. Then you wiped the cheeto crumbs off your shirt and felt like you contributed to the internet, you whiny troll! If you don't like the game, don't keep playing it! But no one wants to hear you ***** about a game that you don't like but hundreds of other people do! And, if I may quote, "burtalishly"? Congradulations, for you have just won the award for Most Fucked-Up Incorrectly-Spelled Made-Up Word of the Century! Let's take a look at it, seeing as how I have to teach you how to spell liek your English teacher. (Highlighted because I don't know what you're trying to say.) the word you were looking for was brutally. So in short, you should probably learn how to spell before you ramble on like your opinion is going to matter to anyone, you annoying selfish twat!!!

First off, please don't adress me so ambiguously. I'm not a dude, I'm a girl. I am not mad at you for that, however. I'm merely stating it for future reference. And also, how exactly is my grammer not very good? No, I'm not a college graduate majoring in the English language, but my grammar is, as far as I know, perfect. (This makes you seem like an annoying, selfish twat.) Or at least close to perfect. I do tend to drag some sentences out a bit, but that's just the way I type. My brutallity stems from the fact that I would sell everything I own to get my hands on anything Elder Scrolls related. I could have been a lot meaner, but I used self-control. (You probably should have used more of it.) And to quote your response: "Chill out, dude, or your stay on this website won't last a lot longer..." Excuse me, but is that a threat? Am I expected to fear you and run away soiling myself and begging forgiveness? As Yahtzee said, HARDY HARDY HAR......
There you go. That's your perfect grammar and ortography, right there.

OT: It wasn't overhyped, it just wasn't your "thing". That's all I have to say about the matter. Also, you might want to spell check your post.

I haven't played it so I really have no opinion on how good Skyrim is or isn't. But I wanted to comment on this type of statement, simply because I ignore anyone who ever says anything like this because it may be the dumbest thing you could possibly say in defense of a game.

I could understand the first hour of a game being a bit slow as you learn to play it, get past the tutorial sections and all of that jazz, but anyone who says you have to wait 5 hours or more for a game to get really good is an idiot. I don't care if at the 20 hour mark Tricia Helfer shows up at my door and gives me a blowjob, it is not worth it.

Well, ok, it might actually be worth it for that, but anything shy of that probably isn't.

I didn't like the Elder Scrolls series before Skyrim, but my only exposure was through Oblivion. I barely knew what Skyrim was, but after some recommendations through word of mouth I looked into it before launch and decided to buy it. LOVE it and will be trying out Morrowind down the track.
Was it Overhyped? Surprisingly for a Triple-A game, no. I saw a few well designed advertisements and mainly had to explore the concept of the game by myself in order to learn more, instead of it being shoved down my throat....Call of Duty.

The word "hype" is kind of relative. Its a culmination of peoples expectations, which really can't be measured, can it? So each persons view of the "hype" will be different, and thus each persons view on whether or not it was "over hyped". So, there's no way anyone can be right or wrong about it. Its their opinion. You can't argue or prove someone off of their opinion. Only facts can be discussed in a such a way.

But to answer the OP's question, no. I think its a great game and it is enjoyable to play. I think it has lived up to the hype of being such.

P.S. Google Chrome has a built in spell check ;)
