Well it depends on the comparison, it is no 4 hour movie plus quick time events, but it surely is the best of the TES series.
Or to put it like this, they had about the same amount of time then any other triple A game to develop this yet their world is huge, so you can't expect every single piece to be perfect.

ehh I wish I could get excited, anyway I feel this is a bit nitpicky, though it does make me wonder what could have been if they plished things up a bit (NV though I know that wastn beshdesa)

speaking of which Im thinking of getting NV for PS3 (patch...definetly) and replaying just for the DLC....but there are parts of that game Ive felt like i played over...and over...and over..and over...the very Idea drives me insane..that game is HUGE
Can you please use spell check or something? Your posts are confusing to read, some words I have to look at them for a couple of seconds to know what they are.

OT: The game doesn't look very impressive at the moment, but not for the reasons the OP mentioned, but for many other reasons. For one, Bethesda seem to be marketing everything like it's revolutionary...

...maybe for the Elder Scrolls series, but a lot of the stuff is just average and nothing special.

And what's with all the dragon hype?

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure dragons have been in video games before, even in the Elder Scrolls series.

The combat just killed it for me.
You can't block attacks with a sword.

So my plan of a dual dagger wielding rogue are not so good looking now.

The game's 3 months away, this is probably footage from a late alpha or early beta build. So relax, and reserve your judgement for when the full game comes out.
A game shouldn't be in early beta 3 months away. It should be close to going gold. It takes a long time to get a game ready for distribution, so if it is still in a late alpha or early beta, then Skyrim is going to get delayed.

Morrowind will still be better.

I've been thinking the same thing for months.

Skyrim just seems... Mediocre.
'Unimproved' if you're honest, 'Lazy' if you're blunt, and 'Classic' if you're kind.

Dragon Age: Origins came out and the graphics weren't up to date, but the game was great.

Also, this was from E3, I knew what was happening almost the entire time because they took sections of it to create gameplay trailers and other things. Most likely, the game is improved by now, and it still has another two months before release.

No game is without something that someone will complain about. I'll just buy the game and enjoy it for what it is.

If you have to block incoming melee attacks on your rogue, then i can say you are doing it wrong.

But, on topic, i will buy it. I started at the beginning with Arena.

It looks more fluid than Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and a million times more fluid than Oblivion. Maybe people have forgotten, but Oblvion was fucking ugly. Stiff animations, horribly uncanny faces. Skyrim is bringing the character models and animations to a respectable level. It's not high end stuff, but it's a huge open world RPG. They've done an admirable job from what I can see, the world and its inhabitants feel more solid, and the lighting effects in particular are hugely improved.

Wait....isn't this just recycled video from QuakeCon with new VO? So it's not even anywhere NEAR the product it is now.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain it's QuakeCon's Demo footage. At least the first one is so far.

Someone picking apart an E3 Demo............ This person has serious issues. No lie. They seem like the kind of person who just walks around unhappy all the time and just finding flaws in everything.

You could say exactly the same thing with Fallout NV but we still saw and had some major bugs and still some bad gameplay now didn't we?
Obsidian made Fallout Vegas not Bethesda. :/ So no we can't say exactly the same thing.
I am well aware f that i was referring to games that come out with bugs in general

You obviously are not playing it on the computer then. Oblivion looks better than the 360 version of skyrim with even the most basic mods.

It's both the QuakeCon and E3 footage seeing they were the same but then in HD.

And I still want the game.

I have just watched the gameplay videos for Skyrim and I am nothing but underwhelmed.

PART 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2_msV2gGJQ
PART 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7PMYnjGD6g
PART 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJAB2QGna_g

First of all, the AI.
Watch from 0:25 of part 2, as the enemy's friend is killed right in front of him, he reacts by putting his fists up and staring at the wall behind his friend's dead body, not looking around, not thinking "Hmm, I do wonder where that sure looking arrow came from" but instead he effectively challenges the cave wall to a duel and is taken advantage of by the player, some would technically call this broken gameplay; Immersion null.

Now watch 3:07, Mr Deathlord is obviously smashing through that wall there, not for fun, but with the sole intention of smashing the said player with his rather large axe.
He smashes through, then stands still for two seconds, also perplexed by the wall in front of him, perhaps the AI is so smart that it is amazed by the visuals you say? I think not.

Not only does this skeletal chap have a stupid AI system working against his favour, but he also appears to be some kind of ghost or spirit, the player slashes and stabs with his blade and the guy doesn't seem to move or react at all to this.

Sigh.. now on to a hilarious one I saw (i'm sure you all noticed this one, but subconciously forgot about it due to it's absolute outrageousness) watch part 3, about 1:17, Mr Giant looms toward the player, swinging his axe (which barely makes the player move when hit) and is then picked up by a passing dragon, and dropped to his embarassing death, watch how the giant just freezes as he is falling (very slowly) to his death, not rotating, not flipping, not even cursing the dragon as he is pulled by the unrealistic gravity of the oh so wonderful Bethesda's Creation engine, another enemy lost in the midst of Bethesda's bugs.

Skyrim's AI looks basically identical to Oblivion as well as the physics, which basically means the new Elder Scrolls is stuck in the past, if this wins Game Of The Year, then it will be a sad time for gaming.

That being said, I should smooth this thing out with some good points about the game:

The dragons are very good.
Combining spells, that will entertain me.

What with the resources, money, staff, expertise and experience Bethesda has at it's disposal, I am saddened that so many of you will accept less than near perfection from this now obviously flawed developer.
dude... this game isn't even out. It's bound to have bugs. When the big guy got picked up, an animation wasnt even played. But the rest of the videos do look great. I think you are being too critical

So skyrim looks like shit to you because it doesn't have brilliant AI and a great physics engine? Those aren't really the things that have made past bethesda games exceptional.

Also the only example you gave of bad AI that I'll aknowledge as valid is the first one. Looking at the other times the skeleton dudes come out of the the walls it seems like they were previously dormant inside the walls. He senses something is wrong, wakes up smashes out, and then takes out his axe and charges the player almost immediately. Are you seriously going to make that big a deal out of a one second delay between just coming out of a wall and taking out a massive axe? Because realistically that's pretty good reaction time for somebody that just woke up.

Also the giant getting grabbed by the dragon could probably be done a little bit better, but still it looks fine. Ok he goes a little bit stiff when the dragon grabs him but I would think that you would probably be paralyzed with fear if something 3 times your size rammed its claws into you at 70-100 miles per hour and flew into the sky with you. The dragon drops him as it flies pretty much straight up with him so it's not really something that would throw off ones center of gravity. He wouldn't flip around, he would pretty much balance out to like a limp skydiving position sort of similar to how he did, assuming that he lost consciousness or died when it grabbed him.

Also what are you saying that it looks average compared to? Because it looks miles better than other recent fantasy RPGs like The Witcher II and Dragon age II.
