I got World in Conflict collector's edition & Bioshock 2 Special Edition, both are really sweet =D

I don't want FO:NV special edition, because it's not that great, but I'm looking forward to future special editions from Fallout or any other good game.

Damn you America. Making us Brits wait 'til Friday. I've ordered it on PC from Shop To. But I'd imagine the date specific DRM would prevent me playing before release date it if my copy arrives early.

That soon? Wow. I have seen absolutely zero marketing for it. You'd think the successor to a former Game Of The Year, as well as being the latest installment in a major gaming series, would warrant at least a poster in the window of Game...
...
I'm a bit worried that there aren't any reviews up yet for it even on American sites on launch day either. That's usually not a good sign regarding the quality of a release. Still, I have faith they won't be able to screw up Bethesda's overall template from Fallout 3 too badly.

Have you ever pre-ordered a special edition of a game. What game was it and why?
...
The only Special Editions I remember pre-ordering are Resident Evil 5 and C&C3: Kane Edition, both for being venerable series (until C&C4, that was...). I've got plenty of Special Editions bought later on though, Including TES: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Unreal Tournament 3, The Witcher, Far Cry 2, MGS4, and Warcraft 3.
Starcraft 2 didn't get reviews until post-launch. Perhaps Bethesda is doing the same as Blizzard, or maybe the reviewers haven't spent enough time with it to deliver their final verdict.

True, it's a game one will have to spend quite a bit of time with to properly evaluate. Someone also corrected me that there are reviews up for the Xbox 360 version of the game on metacritic (and now one up at The Escapist) though, so it's only the PS3 and PC ports for which they're absent so far.

That noise you're hearing is a hell of a lot of reviews being posted all over the internet. Deep breath...

Sarcastic person is sarcastic...
If its anything like fallout 3, just be as EVIL as possible, and you will be absolutely swimming in stimpacks by the time you hit level 15.

So, from what I can see, all you lucky bastards in America seem to have the release date as today for this awesome game.
And i must say the game play looks awesome:
However... it seems i have another 3 days wait on my hands before i can grab my copy..
And today i am going to Pre-order the "limited edition"? with the cards and stuff like that, and yes.. it will be the first game i have ever pre ordered and bought a special edition of.. but damn it looks worth it.

However one question that I need to ask is.. Can you use the pre-order bonus code, for multiple accounts?

In other words will i be able to get

This cool shit on all of the people that i make?

Because how I see it, it would mainly be useful on a "hardcore mode" account due to having a canteen so you don't get dehydrated as easily. I just don't want to waste it on my easy first run through..

Also, just to get some convo rolling..

Seems to be a problem in the embedding.
My experience with launch bonuses, this coming from mass effect 2 for the 360 is that it works for only one account (one profile) but is available to all characters created under that profile, not sure if that will be the case for this game though.

Or be as good as possible and you'll be just as swimming in them. I'm at the highest karma level on my main save with about 700 of the damn things...

Anyway: I was gonna wander down to GAME this afternoon to preorder it but it's raining now so... yeah. Tomorrow's fine. I'm breaking tradition and getting the PC version this time 'cos the collector's edition is only £50 compared to £70 for the Xbox version, and it'll be a novelty to play a new release game on the PC. My brother, on the other hand, preordered it from Play.com and it's been posted already, so he might get it tomorrow.

I won't actually get to play it on release day (Friday, of course) 'cos I've got to travel down to my friend's birthday thing and won't be back until Saturday evening. S'alright though, I didn't even break the shrinkwrap on Fallout 3 for four days after I bought it 'cos I was either busy, out or too hungover to operate a controller.

So... apparently what you have to do to get hundreds of stimpacks is be any extreme that you can be...

I pre-ordered my special edition from GAME a few weeks back. I have so many other games I still need to play (ie still sealed) that I don't mind the extra wait. Having said that this is the first game I will have bought on release since March, and a special edition at that so I guess that tells you how excited I am for this game.

As for marketing I've seen quite a few banners on gaming websites but that's about it. I'm guessing since F3 was such a success they figure New Vegas will just be bought by everyone who enjoyed it, which was a fair number I believe. Not sure it's a sound marketing strategy though.

As a (marginally) related aside, I noticed that the Borderlands GOTY just came out a few days ago, and since I never managed to play it when it came out I thought I'd take a look. Found it for £23 on Amazon so I snapped that bargain up in a second. It's due to arrive tomorrow, but it might have to wait to get played until after New Vegas, you know how these things are.

Went to the local Best Buy at 10:15am (open at 10) and they had about 20 copies of it. Bought it instantly (didn't pre-order) and I'm installing it now. Oh, yes, it came with the Mercenary Pack.

By the time I left Best Buy there were approximately 15-20 people behind me in line with it. Glad I grabbed a copy on my way home from work. :)

Thats a really lame CE bonus, nice for consoles I suppose but litteraly no incentive to pay for it as a PC gamer since it uses the same toolkit moraless it's not exactly going to be a hastle to just import the item files from F3.

I was up at 3:00 am waiting for the game to unlock, which took until 3:20, I feel like crap today but it was totally worth it.

Yeah I thought that too..
The only thing that interests me is the Canteen, the other stuff just seems like what you get at the start of Fallout 3.. hence the title "classic pack".

I keep hearing that the game is absolutely great, but the games is so buggy and unstable, it makes the experience not that great. I wanted to get it today, but I'm going to hold off until the address this issue. Money's a bit tight right now, so I don't want to buy a borderline broken game just yet.
