I was just walking home, with my hood down minding my own business and this idiot pulled up next to me, called me a "Ginger C***" and spat at me before speeding off. Now, personally this is just an extreme of what I usually experience, name calling, rude jestures, bullying, whatever; I'm used to that by now. But this, this just got to me. This just for having red hair, it baffles me.

Have you guys ever seen anything like this in your home town?

That actually shocks me. Where are you from (if you don't mind me asking)? I have seen the odd joke about redheads in my area but if anyone was to take it that far they would probably be lynched by the locals.

If it makes you feel any better you didn't get spat at because you have red hair. Neither the color of your hair nor anything about you specifically had anything to do with the intentions of those boys. You got spat at because your accosters were looking to prank someone with little chance of retribution, which is why they sped off. They are cowards plain and simple and since they cannot rely on intelligence, bravery or self respect to feel good about themselves they are forced to random acts of dick waving to self-justify their existence. You should feel proud in fact that you touched a life today. Some boy who might have otherwise cried himself to sleep tonight or put a shotgun to his temple out of self loathing and utter life ineptitude can now look back on this instance and think (at least in his own mind) that he has importance. You sir are a potentially life saving hero and I applaud you for it!

For fairness of full disclosure I had a similar thing happen to me last winter. I was walking home in the snow at the side of a road when all of a sudden I felt a heavy slap on my back. At the same time I heard obnoxious laughter amid the tire squeal of a car that had swerved over sharply in order to throw a snowball at my back before speeding off. In reality I thought the prank was a little funny myself but I was angered that the car swerved into me on an icy road at speed. Had the driver not been able to control his car he could have killed me for such a prank. That is what pissed me off more than the snowball.

Ginger is essentially the new black. Difference being, there's a lot less redheads than there were blacks, and so it's impossible to have a really effective protection like they could.

Although I'm lucky enough, that although people make fun of me for red hair, it's in good heart. We always make fun of each other for stupid shit and no one gets angry.

But I have been in places where shit like this occurs. It's partly the reason why I moved from arkansas to north carolina (where i currently reside, with good experience as described).

I cannot really give you much except to kick their asses. Fact is, it's in essence racism, and even if you use weapon, it was totally provoked by such a means a jury is hardly likely to convict you...

Whenever I hear that "gingers don't have a soul" bullshit, it really gets me pissed off. Why should we discriminate against them cause of the color of their hair? You'd think we'd gotten past petty bullshit like this, but no.
I have a ginger friend and he was one of the coolest people I've ever known, so I'm especially peeved when I hear about shit like this.
As for anything like this happening to me personally: no. It has happened to my sister before, though. People confuse us for being Arabs sometimes so they start insulting us and stuff. I live in Latin America, btw.
