The game is you, a guy with superpowers, and the entire population of the city waiting to be destroyed by you - and you could probably do it without dying.

If you want a killfest then still rent it - you'll get "over" this game so quickly judging from your OP.

Protototype is the best sandbox game I've ever played.

It might just be for the claws...but you can fly, hijack helicopters, jump high and run up buildings. It's kept me entertained for the last...three days. (I've only had it that long.)

Don't buy, it rent it....it becomes very restricted the longer u play it. choppers attacking u from all angles, army and tanks everywhere. Its no fun after missions, the only time u will reli get to enjoy sandbox is early on when there arent choppers and tanks fucking everywhere.

I'm also on the fence about it too.

Looks very alike to Ultimate Spider-Man. Though, I loved that game so maybe. The only issue I'm going over right now is wether it will get boring quick.
I find it very, very repetative. It mainly consists of these three things.

1) Go here
2) Kill shit
3) New ability.

The cycle repeats until you have aquired every single ability, then, it's just the first two over and over.

So far I have really enjoyed it, I don't see what the fuss is all about with the graphics, they're fine and certainly passable. The powers are great and sometimes you can't decide which weapon you want to use as they all have their strengths and they don't have much weaknesses. I would disagree with the people who have told you to rent it, it's well worth buying.
Read the bold.

I believe what you meant to say was:

"they don't have many weaknesses."

Grammar Nazi, away!

It's a great beat 'em up, and if you're going to play it on XBox I'd say to definitely consider buying vs. renting. You'll probably blow through the gameplay really fast the first round, then set it down and come back for more later. Sorta like GTA (pre-IV), after you've got all the unlockable stuff - I still jump out of helicopters trying to land on people, and other forms of hilarious "blow shit up" fun. Being able to do exactly these things as intended is what Prototype excels at. Seriously, skyjacking from helicopter to helicopter is a form of awesome with it's own zipcode.

I enjoyed it, though I wish it was longer. I finished the main plot, 175/200 blue orbs 40 purple ones, can't find any more web of intrigue, and only 4 non platinum side missions in a week. I still run around just causing chaos but having every upgrade in the game makes you relatively immortal.

It is fun, a bit too easy (I really hate how people block out hard mode till you finish the game) but is fun, definitely at least rent it and try it, especially if your unsure.

I would say I loved it. I will admit, the city when not infected looks like Activision took it from their other games like Spiderman 3 exactly, thought that is a small problem. I will admit, I probably like going in to the street to throw cars, mailboxes, and people at infected more than others, but I still suggest it. Most of my friends who I was either convinced by or convinced seemed to love it. I actually like the story, even though a lot of people don't, though, some might not like that fact that there are a lot of things that you have to piece together on your own, which can easily be misinterpreted. I know I got some parts about certain characters wrong (I won?t say what for those who haven't played it).
I over all like it, and the gore is kind of fun at times, especially when you do a run by slash with a sword, and keep running only to see the upper half of the slashed person fly past you.
Random fact, I didn't notice it till recently, but I punched a guy with the muscle mass power on and saw his spine with ribs attached on the ground. I enjoyed that.

I get over games pretty fast, and now that I've gotten over Red Faction: Guerrilla (i still do like it btw), i need a new game, stat. I know for sure later in the year I'll be getting ODST and Bioshock 2, but i need a new game now. I've seen the trailer and I know about the story, although i wasn't really hyped when it was coming out. But do you recommend it? If you have it, what do you like about it? What's your favourite part of it? And so on............
Get it, here's a good pitch for the game http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/6/19/ seriously what the fuck else do you want?
Oh man.. I can't breathe.
Thanks for that, I really needed it.

I say yes, if you like sandbox games. It's mindless fun and the people who complain about the graphics actually make a bigger deal of them than they really are. Just be prepared for some moments where you have no idea what's going on (tons of things going on at once).

I bought it the other day and it was fun with a few hard bits but the story was interesting enough to make me want to play all the way through, im going to try to finish on hard in a few days. It has a realy good plot twist at the end.

I personally enjoyed this game but it really depends on if you squeeze out every drop of entertainment out of a game or just go through once and done! , If you want everything out of it , its defiantly worth it , but if you are going to play without trying to get the most out of it , its not.

I mainly enjoyed the free roam of this game , running across building to building , consuming people , web of intrigue , stuff like that.

Nooooooooooooooo, or at least not yet
Because it is a 1 player game the prices of it will drop faster than... something fast.
If you can wait a while the price will probably have halfed.

I posted my brutally honest opinion on Prototype last week, but here it is again.

"Do you like:
-Hack & Slash style gameplay?
-Repetitive gameplay?
-Fucked up difficulty curve?
-Clichéd plot?
-Embarrassingly bad voice acting?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you will like Prototype.

Before anyone asks: no! Fun gimmicks* and pretty graphics do not make up for a piss-poor game!"

*In this case, all the fancy ways to kill things.

I rented Prototype last week and had a shitload of fun with it, more than inFamous (sorry had to compare). The only reason I'm not buying it straight away is that I only have $90 and thats how much Prototype costs.

Ahh screw it I'll buy it this weekend.
