royal family
?noun
the immediate family of a reigning monarch.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/royal+family

monarch (ˈmɒnək)

? n
1. a sovereign head of state, esp a king, queen, or emperor, who rules usually by hereditary right
2. a supremely powerful or pre-eminent person or thing

The "Monarchs" of england have no actual power so by definition they are not monarchs, without power there is no royalty, without royalty THEIR LAST NAME IS WINSOR MOVE THEM OUT OF THE PALACE GET AN APARTMENT AND A REAL JOB.
you're wrong
In essence the english system like the dutch keeps the queen as sovereign head of state , that her responsibilities are next to none is only cause they just sign edicts and that's about it
Huh, thats kinda silly... Thanks for telling me that so I don't go spewing my argument everywhere. :)

I think that the entire world needs to forget the royal family and say that they stopped mattering after the kings/queens stopped having any real political power (which is true).
Funny, because they still have a ridiculous amount of power. The Queen has the sole right to oust the Prime Minister.

I couldn't give a crap. I hate the royal family, rich just because of their linage. Do they even own land or something? Were does all that income come from? I mean the income not stolen from people who didn't make a will before they died.
Why can't i find anyone that opposes them with any sense of intelligence. It's always misinformed people who don't care to understand where or why they're wrong, or angry people saying the Royals steal from the tax payers.

Good for them. I don't understand why everyone here in the States is flipping out over the royal wedding of a nation that isn't them. Sure, the UK is great, been there a few times, and they're probably our closest allies at the moment, but you don't see the UK getting all excited over, say, Chelsea Clinton's wedding.
I don't see anyone in the US getting excited over Chelsea Clinton either. Mainly because nobody likes the *****. Bad example...

I liked the SAS snipers camping on top of the palace, and knowing that MI5, MI6, CTU and the special forces would all have observers watching every inch of the route :p

Pretty much sums up my opinion.
Still got to avoid the news for another week just to give the BBC time to shut the fuck up about it.

Yeah sign of the times - notice how many police officers with guns there were lining the route? I liked how the Met officers came out in their dress uniform too, with the white gloves. Except of course for the high-vis jacket lot who eventually led the crowd at the end.

It was interesting, I thought the Ceremony after the vows lasted a bit too long, other than that it was cool. The Choir was particularly spectacular, as was her dress. It wasn't too extravagant but not too simple, simply beautiful. I swear I saw the Queen doze off at one point, and I also noticed the empty Syrian Ambassadors chair. Security was, obviously, pretty crazy. With the Royal Guard present I don't see why so much police was necessary, shit load of L85's there.

And as people people have pointed out.. A big WTF to Reindeer head.

I was amazed by how sad some of the people were though, camping in London for days to get a good place to be and people coming from different countries just to see it..WTF? Glad I got a day off for it more than anything though, Surgery still going on but we had skeleton lists because..well..everyone is watching the wedding!

The main things me and my friends noticed was how crazy hot Pippa was, and Kate isn't exactly bad.

I may not have actually bothered to watch the royal wedding but as someone else has already pointed out, this has hugely benifitted the UK. So many tourist have come to London and loads of people payed money to travel to this event, plus the fact that this might have improved relation to other countries (invitations to the event). The royal family are definitly worth the small amount of taxes this country has to pay for them.

I didn't watch the wedding as I couldn't care less about the marriage of figureheads. That being said, the frowning little girl does have the potential to become a meme in the following days.

I'm not much into wedding's and such, but there were some parts i did enjoy e.g. the music in the cathedral, seeing the Household Cavalry & Guard regiments and the WWII Lancaster/Hurricane/Spitfire flyover was pretty badass.

No matter how annoying it is, it still makes a nice change from the regular doom'n'gloom headlines.

I can only hope that now they've finished with the wedding, We won't be hearing anymore about it.

Seriosly, I was watching the news last night, trying to find out about the important things happening, and I had to wait 20 minutes for the news to stop banging on about it.

I watched a little but, totally against the lazy student stereotype, I actually had to go to a lecture. On a day everyone is supposed to have off. Fuck you engineering.

There was also a street party in our street and there was a truck with a massive screen in it so people could watch. But yeah, I was busy.

ALso, what kind of sad fuck waits to get a view of the royals briefly passing in a car?

Waste of newstime.

Here, there was a live broadcast from over 5 HOURS before it started, and last I checked, THEY WERE STILL SHOWING FOOTAGE.

And I don't even live in eurasia.

Oh dear, are you upset that they disrupted your daily intake of misery, destruction, death, disaster and war with a fairly pleasant and mildly upbeat event?

My heart weeps.

OT: I thought it was pretty cool. There were some lol-worthy hats *looks at Princess Beatrice*
the hymns and songs were well done, the military splendor was a sight to behold, the Royal Airforce fly-over was awesome, it was all pretty slick and light hearted, and it filled in my morning.

Then my village had a street party. Free food, cheap beer, live music. Can't argue with that.
