It's a boring drug for boring people who don't have anything better to do with their time. But I don't see any reason why it would be illegal. If that's what someone wants to make of their time, what business is it of mine?

I quite enjoy weed. Like, I'm not a wake-and-baker or anything (hell, I smoke maybe once or twice a month), but it's a really good thing, imo. Like, I can get home after a long week, or after a big test or what have you, and I can smoke a bit of the ganj, and you know what? I just turn on some Mystery Science Theater 3000 or crank some Mastodon, and I relax. It's just that ritual that's kept me sane through high school.
Never done it, never had any interest to do it, but there are no studies saying that it's harmful, so have at it. A lot of my friends partake, and I hang around them while they're doing it. I just don't join in.
I'm of the opinion that legalization would be a good thing, at least around where i am. this would allow for taxation, so sure, it would become more expensive, but it could be regulated to an extent, reducing the ammount of low quality, potentially dangerous cuts on the market. after all, it's going to be used no matter what, may as well take advantage of it for profit and political support.

It's a recreational drug like alcohol, put it in the legal economy and get on with life, people!
Legalizing weed would not solve the immigration problem because the drug cartel would just start selling the stuff to suppliers in the US. That or they would set up their own distribution centers and sell it themselves.Dense_Electric said:

No, it would make it harder. A dude working in shop isint going to sell it to kids and most people wouldnt be arsed buying it for them either but most, not all, drug dealers dont care who they sell to as long as they get the money.TerribleAssassin said:

I prefer its effects to those of alcohol, but the fact that I would need to associate with dealers puts me off smoking it unless somebody's passing a joint around. Also, I hate how my money filters down to fund organized crime. I would prefer for it to be legal, regardless of the price hike. At least you'd know what you're getting; I ended up sampling some extremely strong stuff once, and it was a horrible experience.

it should be decriminalised though, it wastes too much time and money arresting small time dealers and users. plus its none of the governments business. tax money could be used for drug treatment programmes (for real drugs like smack).

I think it should be legalized, because people are going to use it no matter what, and all the current legislation has accomplished is funding organised crime. I also enjoy smoking it occasionally, but I hate having to associate with dealers, and the knowledge that my money is funding murders somewhere down the line does not rest easy on the mind.
As long as you know your limits, it's not that much of a problem. As for legalising it, I think that might be the one thing that stops people using it because when it's no longer against the law it loses a whole lot of the appeal and I don't doubt there are people who do it just for the thrill of doing something against the law.
I have no problem with it, as I like to think I have enough self-control to stop if it becomes a problem. Until someone I know and respect says that they have a problem with it and want me to stop, I see no problem with keeping going with it at an age when there is not a whole lot of responsibility. I don't have to start preparing for exams for another year, I might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Its great. I enjoy smoking weed from time to time, but not constantly. In fact to celebrate a semester well finished I am going to get a bit of pot and go off to my grandmas for a week to relax and have some time to myself.
As others have pointed out, it's believed to be less dangerous than alcohol or nicotine. It has some medicinal value as well.
So I really see nothing against legalizing it.
