My weapon of choice...... anything you'll find on the streets. Vending machines, street poles cars name it. I'll lift 'em up and hurl it Heiwajima Shizuo style!

A scythe is cool too. one with a chain attached so when needed, I can throw it and pull it back afterwards.

Winged spear in a medieval style world, relatively modern a sniper rifle, futuristic, power armour. And for something silly, I'd just run around slapping people with a raw fish.
Since I'm playing Xenogears right now, I'm gonna say a mech. Come on, you all know you want to pilot one.

Do I go with the sword-breaking fist weapons, the Katara? A vanilla shortsword? A big freaking longsword? The range of boomerangs and Chakram? The power of an axe? How about a Dao sword? A Katana? A Naginata? So many choices...
If we're going for the unrealistic, I've always like the design of Tidus' swords from Final Fantasy X, with the notch at the end. I always thought that a slashing attack from that thing would gouge out a lot of flesh. Or, maybe, Lightning's Blazefire Sabre from Final Fantasy XIII. So much better than Squall's Revolver because it ACTUALLY SHOOTS. And it can do so rather quickly, as evidenced in a certain boss fight that is to far away for anyone but Lightning and Sazh to attack with a physical attack.
On second though, make me a mime/jack-of-all-trades who can wield most weapons. No matter what I wield, though, I'd pair it with some sort of magic/energy pistol.

Definitively not an standard RPG longsword or any sort of katana. Boring.
Nothing that glow, shine, burn, menace with spikes, with an unusual color. those are for kids.
I will use a drama-dar to detect the bad guys. I will put my awesome sunglasses on. Then i will use a gun to shoot them in the face, preferably during a cutscene (where only the rule of cool) while interrupting their evil monologue. Win.

Modern: An M60. Or the M72 Law. Just to mix up all the people using the RPG.
Fantasy: A couple of Cestus's(?) and a Hammer.
Future: A very large Energy-composed Riot Shield.

It would be normal Jian thickness but as long as a Claymore, pitch black and(If I get to have powers)can fire projectile attacks made of solidified hatred.
