Me.

I've had absolutely 0 interest in CoD since World at War, though I did succumb and actually play MW2, who's campaign was so bad it literally put me off all war shooters forever. Or at least I haven't been able to drag myself back to one yet.

I have no interest in Battlefield either, so really I just won't be getting them. I have way to much to play. In the past few weeks I've finished Dark Souls, El Shaddai, Batman: Arkham City and Asylum (for the second time cause it's just great). Now I'm playing Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, House of the Dead: Overkill, Splinter Cell Collection HD, GoldenEye Reloaded (a lot better then you'd expect). And in the next few weeks I'll be playing Sonic Generations, Uncharted 3, Assassins Creed: Revelations, Need For Speed: The Run, etc. etc.

I've got plenty to keep me busy. I have no desire to play through 3 hour shooter campaigns, or play online against a bunch of screaming kids and derogatory elitists.

Heard Battlefeild changed a little to much for my liking whole kife doesn't insa-kill and the dog tag change. As for Call of Duty it's been dead to me since World at war.

Im not buying either too but thats simply because I'm still enjoying Red Orchestra(Its very harsh but fair) in fact the only FPS I plan on getting for the foreseeable future is ARMA 3.

I won't be buying either simply because I don't dislike them but I'm not interested in them. Also I recently got Halo Reach so I'm too busy playing that while waiting for Zelda and Assassin's Creed Revelations.

I didn't buy it because of social pressure, hardly anyone I know plays it. I just bought because I've always been a battlefield fan and the multiplayer is really great in my opinion.

Nope. Don't knock it though, man, it's just not my thing.

How do you get socially pressured into buying a game? why am I reminded of those old videos they played in early high school saying "just say no, peer pressure's not a joke".
All your friends playing it, and either nagging you to buy it (when it's not your thing), or not. Which is almost worse because if you don't join in it brings up fears of ostracism from the group. It's not all that difficult to imagine. Societal pressure affects almost every decision we make.

But basically every hugely-anticipated Title of this Season, I'm getting. AC:Revelations, MW3, Halo CEA, Skyrim, and Skyward Sword. And my Heads ready to EXPLODE from anticipation!!!!!

I'm contemplating on buying BF3, but nothing is certain, but not until the game is patched up and the game installation issues are resolved as well. I most certainly don't see the latter happening.

Also, I've decided to take a stand against Activision and the Call of Duty series, since every Call of Duty title has been the same but with a slightly fresh coat of paint since 4 (and I stopped at World at War). Well, unless I get MW3 as a gift.

There are also several, more interesting games that are coming up and I'm chomping at the bit to buy and play them.

I won't be buying either, then again that's nothing new, I havn't bought any of the Battlefield games and the last COD game I played was Airborne!

I think they have become over hyped and it does annoy me that it's assumed that just becasue your a gamer you will be buying one (or both) of these titles.

No thank you. I'm tired of playing as ''Lieutenant Generic'' fighting some ''realistic'' war against Russians alongside ''Commander Faceless''. Multiplayer? pff I won't bother since the community for these games are awful.

I wouldn't mind seeing more shooters like Bulletstorm though...

Haven't bought any Battlefields since 1942, and any CoD since the original CoD. And don't plan on it, because FPSs in which you can't rocket jump are all atrocious, with absolutely no exceptions.

From what I've seen of BF3, I like it. It takes me back to the days when I used to play BF2 nonstop. I'm just still shaken up about the whole Origin deal, and I truly believe that Battlefield was meant to be played on the PC, so going with a console isn't really an option for me. That's really my only complaint, though.

EDIT: Changes in FPS games? Well, I'd like a more fantastic setting, for one. War shooters get old really fast. Second, more weapons. I'm a 90s shooter fanatic, so having 9 or so weapons is par for the course in some of my favorites. Also, about regenerating health, I think BF3 did it pretty well. Slow regen over time, with instant healing (is it instant?) coming from medkits.

I think both games look pretty enjoyable, but I don't have the money to blow on titles I'm only slightly interested in. I'd much rather put money towards games like Skyrim, Arkham City, or Skyward Sword.

I dislike your strawman that implies people only buy popular games due to peer pressure. Have you ever considered those games are popular for a reason?
FPSs? No.

"People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it"

Never bought a FPS.

More than a bit bummed that the crowd I usually game with has jumped on the BF bandwagon but the disappointment isn't enough to get me to buy the game. I don't have enough game time to keep up with that group's learning curve. The same goes for playing with strangers. That's the big reason for not getting one of these games - if I can't play with friends, the online 'community' is actually a ridonkulously huge disincentive to play.

What would I like to see in FPS games, though? Oh man, easy answer - open the gameplay to a wider variety of skills. I don't mean skills as number crunching stats, ie, bigger guns, more dakka. I mean skills as ways to play the game and contribute to it meaningfully. FPS gameplay is about lining up a crosshairs and pulling a trigger, which is well and good and should stay the focus of these games. But man - I'd kill for a deep enough driving simulation so troop transport would be as entertaining as Forza under fire. Or, and I thought this was going to be way more common for games after Mirror's Edge, a lot more 'movement skills' to negotiate terrain in an entertaining fashion (I heard Brink had a bit of this but didn't do much with it).

Or a more robust commander role for people who don't mind being entirely out of the firefight, make it more of an RTS or Tower Defense kinda thing. With driving. And parkour.

;D

ps - oh! And civilians. People on the battlefield who should not be killed but who can be hidden amongst, exploited, defended. In game penalties are fine, assymetrical rules of engagement would work really well. There's drama and moral choices there aplenty. Knowing that every moving person is a viable target in an FPS ratchets down the tension.

Ok, so it's equal season and half of my XBL and PSN friends list is playing BF3. I have no doubt that the other half will be playing MW3 when that's released. I just wanted to know who else isn't really that keen on either and simply refuses to bow to social pressure. While I like my FPS as much as the next guy/girl I'm just a little tired of the modern iteration.

For Further discussion value: What would you like to see added to/ Changed in FPS's
I've got nothing against modern FPS gameplay . . . it's the free military propaganda that keeps these types of shooters out of my house.

I'd get MW3. Used. Later. Much, much later. Too much awesomeness coming out for me to even be remotely interested. I like Call of Duty, but I'm not in any rush.

Modern shoot-em-up games just don't appeal to me anymore. There's barely any story, its the same old repetitive BS day in, day out, and I just don't see why I should spend fifty euro buying a game which plays the same way and has roughly the same visuals and storyline as 50 other games.
Timesplitters Future Perfect, and Bulletstorm. The only FPS games I now have. Why? Because they're fun! They're different from all those generic BOOM-HEADSHOT shovelware.

So as a massive F-YOU to FPS games, I'll be getting Uncharted 3, and Sonic Generations this week. :] Two of the best franchises from two of the best game developer companies in gaming.

Better than all of world war 2 over and over and over again
