It's not impossible that they could fix the ending. Even if we can't imagine a non-retarded place they could take the series, you never really know until it's released. That said, Indoctrination Theory is an easy way to fix the series. If Bioware would take that theory, combine it with an epic Harbinger boss battle and give us the earth-shattering finale that we all wanted, I'd be satisfied.

I once heard someone on the BW forums propose an excellent (if extremely unlikely) idea. The extended cut should have a scene after the credits depicting Shephard reading an apology from the Mass Effect team for destroying the series' story in the original ending. Now, that would make me gain some of my respect back for Bioware.

It's interesting how Bioware claimed they wouldn't change the ending "out of respect for the team's artistic vision" when one of those same writers is claiming that they were forced out of the creative process.

The ending doesn't entirely destroy my interest in the ME Universe, however it has destroyed my faith in Bioware, after all I heard about Dragon Age 2 being abysmal it seems that ME3's ending was the other shoe dropping.

Meh. I think it's going to be a lackluster fanservice tacked on to the rotten appendage of the series.

ME3 had probably the strongest gameplay of the series, but the writing and storytelling was taken out back and shot. The extended cut will involve writing.

Therefore I believe that the golden goose was dead long before the ending. The whole game was a soap opera, 15 minutes of extra will not save it.

I liked the games and I didn't hate the ending. The execution was poorly done but the underlying thought was ok, even if somewhat out of place.
So screw that extended cut, unless there's blue tits in it.

I really liked the ending of Mass Effect 3. Go ahead, hate me for it.

However, not only did I enjoy the game and the ending, I thought the ending was kind of beautiful, actually.

To be honest, if they change how the ending went down I'm going to be really disappointed.

I plan on picking up the extended cut when it is released. I didn't hate the ending. It was not what I expected but I didn't hate it. I hope they do the same thing they did in DA:O and after the extra cutscenes they tell us what also happened in little text boxes.

it just bugs me that the ending destroyed the universe, i could deal with a bleak ending and didn't mind the bullshit plotholes( because that doesn't change what i did the past 3 games). What does fuck things up for me was the fact that they killed the universe with the ending, everything i fought for is irrelevant since it's gone. saved the Krogan from the Genophage? they are stranded on a nuclear wasteland. i wouldn't even have minded if the game forced to me to personally wipe out humanity to save the other races.

it just pisses me off because i really liked the gameplay but can't get myself to replay it.

oh and artistic integrity my ass, they already moved away from the dark matter ending (which would have been dark and bleak and made for a way better external threat than "we kill you so you don't kill yourself") because it got leaked

Even if this does clarify the ending, I doubt it still won't help the game's finale any...

It might sound silly, but I'm still kind of heart broken about the ending.
I doubt the extended cut can make things any worse, so for now, I'm looking forward to seeing what scenes they added.

I will not tire of saying this: I demand the little blue children.

Unless the Extended Cut come out and says, "The Indoctrination Theory was right! Here's where the game really left off, here's Shepard 'snapping out of it' and here's the real ending!" Unless that happens, I won't be holding my breath.
That sounds 100 times worse than the actual ending.

EDIT: Assuming you're going by the 'it was all a dream' cliche, otherwise I retract my statement.

I think that I'm sick of the word 'clarifying'. I don't want it to be 'clarifying', I want it to make the end not suck. But nothing will do that short of a total rewrite, so we're hosed.

I'm not going to touch the DLC with a ten-foot pole unless people say it's good. And even then, I might just say f*ck it.

I honestly don't know what kind of answer you're trying get out of us by pulling out that question but a broad spectrum generalisation would probably be like "trying to put out the fire with gasoline ".

The ending will still be dumb, but it's far from the only problem Mass Effect 3 has.

I'm looking forward to the closure the extended cut is said to provide, but I doubt that it will elevate the game all that much in my eyes.

I have been a longtime fan of the Mass effect universe. I was fine with the ending.
It tied everything together quite well, and i am happy that they are making this extended cut.
I did however feel like it had a hollow ending, as it did not really reflect your decisions, But it seems that the extended cut will kind of "Fill the void", so to speak.

Meh, I still like Mass Effect, and though the ending was awful, I accept it..

I still hate it though, didn't get to chill with Garrus.

From everything we've been told and whatever little scant details have come out, it seems as if they're not doing anything to fix the ending, but instead are doing their best make the ending less shitty than it is. It's nice that it's free (it's the least they could do), but there's nothing so far that gives me any hope that anything will ever be resolved.

Plus, I'm just so over Mass Effect. I've lost all motivation to even touch any of the games outside the first. So, fuck it. There's some interesting titles on the horizon that are a bit more deserving of my attention.

When you take a fantastic game universe that we've only scratched the surface of and then cause it all to implode in less than 5 minutes, I doubt that "clarifying" the ending will help anything. From what I've heard, they're not editing the current ending, they're just adding on to it to explain what happened afterward. That's not good enough. The Spacebrat and Crucible were really stupid ideas that should have been axed or never even brought up during the planning process. If the game was all about rallying the galaxy with no superweapons or genocidal holographic children, I would've easily been on my 6th playthrough by now. Instead, the ending left me so angry and confused that I can't bring myself to even get through Palaven a second time. All I can think about is a new dark age that plunges the whole galaxy into civil war over limited resources and space.

It's clear whats going to happen: Since most people traded in their copy or just don't care anymore, and since the DLC is free and doesn't add any achievements, 1 shmuck from IGN or something is going to download it, play it, and post it on YouTube and then everyone else will just watch that video.

Seeing how our choices never made a difference at all, then seeing the extended cut scenes with another Shepard doesn't even matter. I probably won't get it, I'll just watch it on youtube the day its released.

I read the funniest thing in an advertisement for ME3 from Gamestop (they are offering it for $40 now).

"It's not about the destination, it's about the journey"
