First of all id like to say i never met somoen who drinks coke a day every day, guess you were really into it.
Secondly, i call your theory bull. Last time i drank coke was probably last year. no, that was over 1,5 years ago in one expedition for lack of anything better to drink. Though i do fancy myself some kvass every 6 months or so. (closer to beer than soft drinks though). I have gained weight than you and continue gaining. therefore, your theory is bust. Now obviuosly i gained it for other reasons, thats the point, no way to measure if you coke actually did what happened to you.
ALso, if you get stomatch infection, drink coke, it kills EVERYTHING. no, seriuosly, it even kills hangover, i knew a guy that would mix Brandy with Coke and could drink 2 bottles (0,7l) of brandy in matter of 4 hours and have no hangover whatsoever. everyone i told this recipe to have said that indeed it worked for them. as i dont drink alcohol i didnt test myself.

Depends if you drink soda with sugar or sugar substitutes, I guess. I drank around 2 liters of Pepsi Max(without sugar) for several years. Never got fatter. Went to only drinking water half a year ago and I'm still the same size(well, I have been working out).
Substitutes pushes the risk of getting prostate cancer through the roof though, among other things, iirc.
As for revelations... yes. When I decided to start working out I begun actually looking at what was in the food I ate. Everything is either full of sugar or bursting with carbonhydrates.
substitites..... arent really worth being skinny.... itsl ike those "Samrt drugs", yeah it will work for one night and leave you sorry for the other 50 years.

im the opposite. we couldnt afford sweets when i was kid and i would get more occasions to taste suggar than anything (suggar wasnt a guarantee in my household, we occasionally had some). now i love sweets, i love them so much that i now weigh close to 100 KG. I love them so much that im actually running around, trying to losoe weight, with a candy in my hand!
