This sounds great, I can't run games from Uplay if it's online and Ubi's customer service wasn't able to solve the problem... well actually they decided to ignore me. So, thanks guys for all the features I won't be enjoying!
Good catch! I modded the heck out of my game, so I'd all but forgotten. I ended up buying DA: O TWICE, Colelctor's Edition preorder AND the GOTY edition. I had preordered DA2, but the store I'd ordered it from went under. I missed the deadline to get the Exiled Prince for free, so I skipped out on DA2 until it hit a bargain bin, as a result.Mcoffey said:Don't forget Shale! A fully fleshed out companion, with hours of dialogue and side quests, completely ripped out of the game... UNLESS you buy new and sign up for the Bioware Social Network of course!Seracen said:When I first used UPlay, I thought it was a cool throwback to the unlockables of old. Then, of course, I realized the unlocks were in the game (which is fine as it was free), and that I'd never have unlocked it without online connectivity (which is not fine at all).Mcoffey said:Seriously, Ubisoft: fuck off. Shit like this makes me worried about the games they put out, like South Park, that I'm still interested in buying. I'm half expecting them to lock off levels above five if you don't preorder the super, bullshit, 300 dollar legacy edition of the game.
You know, only to stop pirates. Totally.
As such, I saw this coming from a mile away, and it isn't as if Ubisoft has had some amazing fidelity to the fans. So, I don't know what I was expecting. What concerns me, however, is what kind of BS they are going to pull with Watch Dogs. They've already got a bunch of pre-order exclusives in place that diminish the quality of the game otherwise.
I wouldn't be surprise if they did "Day One DLC" crap like what EA did to all Bioware games (yes, ALL: DA's Warden Keep, DA2's Exiled Prince, ME2's Zaeed [technically], ME3's Prothean).
EDIT: I can totally see in Assassin's Creed 7 making all the Present Day shit being buy new, seeing how they're trying so hard to make it barely matter.
On the other hand, that probably wouldn't be much incentive to buy new. It'd probably make people go out of their way to buy used.
I almost punched my monitor as I just found out about this. I'm actually so pissed that I cannot type in all caps what would appear to be every curse word i've ever learned. I also refuse to capitalize the "u" in ubisoft, they can suck my appendages; all of them.Xdeser2 said:Not only is there an online pass for SINGLE PLAYER content...
but you can't access that without being online. What utter bullshit Ubisoft, does that REALLY make the game any better, and does that REALLY get you any extra revenue?
That might prove difficult since Microsoft Points were discontinued a while ago.roseofbattle said:The Uplay Passport is different from being a registered Uplay user. Membership is free, but the Passport is a game-specific code included in new copies. The passport grants online access to multiplayer content, but it is also needed for fleet building in single-player content. Ubisoft states on its Uplay page [http://uplay.ubi.com/en-GB/about ] that players can purchase a new Uplay Passport code online within the game. The Uplay Passport costs $9.99. Players using an Xbox 360 alternatively can spend 800 Microsoft Points. Activating a free trial gives temporary access to content that needs the Uplay passport.
