It's almost as if ubisoft appreciates the irony of people pirating their game, and is thus doing their best to discourage actual customers.
I almost punched my monitor as I just found out about this. I'm actually so pissed that I cannot type in all caps what would appear to be every curse word i've ever learned. I also refuse to capitalize the "u" in ubisoft, they can suck my appendages; all of them.Xdeser2 said:Not only is there an online pass for SINGLE PLAYER content...
but you can't access that without being online. What utter bullshit Ubisoft, does that REALLY make the game any better, and does that REALLY get you any extra revenue?
That might prove difficult since Microsoft Points were discontinued a while ago.roseofbattle said:The Uplay Passport is different from being a registered Uplay user. Membership is free, but the Passport is a game-specific code included in new copies. The passport grants online access to multiplayer content, but it is also needed for fleet building in single-player content. Ubisoft states on its Uplay page [http://uplay.ubi.com/en-GB/about ] that players can purchase a new Uplay Passport code online within the game. The Uplay Passport costs $9.99. Players using an Xbox 360 alternatively can spend 800 Microsoft Points. Activating a free trial gives temporary access to content that needs the Uplay passport.
Considering that Zaeed was add-on content and not having him didn't affect the game at all. If I read this article correctly, this fleet stuff is part of the main game and locked off if you don't buy new. That's a fair difference I'd say.MatParker116 said:Mass Effect 2 (Zaeed), Rage (Sewers) already did something similar.
I don't know how a sane person could ever possibly say that, but it IS Halloween, so I'm going to assume you're one of them there undead, freshly risen, who thinks Steam is just something that makes your rotted zombified skin smell like mould.major_chaos said:Still gonna buy it. I don't see why taking out a minor (and honestly kinda shit) feature as a small incentive to buy new is such a major issue to some people. Also I'm just gonna throw this out there: so far I like Uplay better than Steam.
Rage is rightMatParker116 said:Mass Effect 2 (Zaeed), Rage (Sewers) already did something similar.
Fixed that for you.BloodRed Pixel said:and there goes Ubisoft and pisses on everybody, ... again.
AC is a huge franchise. people anticipate them almost like they anticipate GTA games. everyone i know is excited about AC4 andi m the only one not buying here. so yeah, people DO buy them as hotcakes. Brotherhood was the only one that really had poor reception. The others made huge profits for boobiesoft. This franchise wont die for the same reason COD wont die - becuase its profitable as hell.RJ 17 said:I was actually going to ask the same thing "Wait...people are actually planning on BUYING this game?" Granted, this news does indeed show what a giant sack of dicks Ubisoft is, but it also implies that people are actually buying this game and would thus have a true reason to be upset about this.Strazdas said:Seriuosly, why people still buy their stuff?
I mean after Brotherhood's poor reception, Revelation's insult of a game, and ACIII's utter failure, I just can't wrap my head around the thought of more than a couple thousand people buying this game. This franchise should be dead, plain and simple.
I mean look at this game, they were so desperate to try and get fans back that they based it around the only mechanic that people actually liked from ACIII: the naval combat. Throw in pirates because they're still popular...right? RIGHT?! And POOF! Here's your new AC game!

I kid, I kid. But seriously, what do you like better about Uplay? I can't think of one thing I like about it, period. Let alone something that could rival Steam. Heck, I'd put Origin above uplay. But that's me. It's all subjective, I guess.
