If standard Lancer bayonets were replaced by chainsaws because the blade shatteres on Locust hide, why the hell are they being put in Gears 3? So we can break our weapons but not our enemies?

This was an instance where knowing next to nothing about deadpool really immersed me into the movie, I got freaking goosebumps when Striker mentioned him, I had heard about him, read the TV Tropes page, but that was it for what I knew of him, and I loved it, although now I have looked further into his character I can see why it was a total abomination.silver wolf009 said:I have never really been a fan, but I have had a few passing intrests in the comics. Well, the Collector thing I can explain. The Reapers only want humans to be used in a new Reaper. They probably expected the plague to spread from Omega, since the place isn't nearly as orderly as other civilized worlds and the quarantine could be broken relatively easily. Think of it this way: If you're shown to a mound of M&Ms and told to pick out all the blue ones, wouldn't it be much easier if someone had already taken out all but the blue ones?Dango said:That too. What I hate about that is Bioware had a chance to explain the change from Mass Effect 1's overheating to Mass Effect 2's ammo clips. I was pissed off when got picked up a weapon at the beginning of the game and said "There's no heat sync" (or something along those lines), and Miranda just told you "There's one." I was expecting some kind of explanation from Miranda on how the galaxy standard for ammunition changed to heat clips while Shepard was dead or something. Since after all a character waking up 2 years later is a perfect time to come up with any explanations you want.RedEyesBlackGamer said:While we are on that, the retcon of the way guns work. All the times my conversation options were limited to "being an asshole" despite choosing the Paragon path. And don't even get me started on the instances Shepard would say something completely out of character without at least giving me a chance to choose a dialog option.
And while we're on the subject, the motivation for the collectors wanting to release a plague on Omega is never explained. Ever.
And that Geth ship did have windows.
And a very, very minor plothole is navigator Pressly saying his grandfather fought in the First Contact War. Judging from his looks, I'd say Pressly is what, in his 40s? 50s maybe? Then why did his grandfather fight in the First Contact war that happened 30 years prior to the events of Mass Effect 1? That always kinda bugged me.
I have tons of ranting to do on the DLC, especially Lair of the Shadow Broker, but I'll stop for now.
That's generally what I assumed, but when you have to start making up character motivations, something is definitely wrong.Bek359 said:Well, the Collector thing I can explain. Yeah, I specifically went out and bought the Limited Edition purely for Halsey's Journal, because I've always been the sort of person who tries to understand every aspect of a story or plot in fiction. I seriously cannot stand not knowing the entire plot of things. So I read all of the Journal before playing the game, and so realised just how it all fit together, and even how the Pillar of Autumn was able to be on Reach during the end levels despite the apparent clash with the events as chronicled in The Fall Of Reach. I then ended up spending a long time afterwards trying to explain to butthurt people on this very site who kept saying it wasn't canon, exactly how it fit and how it was still canon, and could remain so. Pretty much none of those people had read the Journal until after I explained things to them. That being said, it's kind of vital to understanding the game story, especially given the idea of how the Covenant are even on Reach despite the books saying they don't arrive for another two or three weeks (even though the game clearly states it's nothing more than a small stealth-inserted recon group in a cloaked ship...).ZeroMachine said:Halo: Reach until I learned more details about the backstory.
Anyone who hasn't read Halsey's Journal, but did read the Fall of Reach, and then played Reach, will HATE the ending.
Well, they couldn't exactly explain it at the time, because it hadn't been revealed why the Collectors were taking humans. And once you were in the Collector Base, there were more important things to take about than problems that had already been solved very early in the game. Kind of derpy storytelling, but not a dealbreaker for me.Dango said:That's generally what I assumed, but when you have to start making up character motivations, something is definitely wrong.Bek359 said:Well, the Collector thing I can explain. I'm tempted to agree. I'm terrified of this movie. It could give (in my opinion) the greatest comic book hero ever a very bad name. The story looks like it's going to cram too much into it (Spider-Man 3 style) and Parallax looks like the BalrogTheSchizoid said:If this post came around two months later I guarantee I'd be here talking about the Green Lantern movie.
That's kind of stupid marketing. "You have to read this, this, and this or you won't get this." Really? That seems a little money-whorish at worst.ZeroMachine said:Halo: Reach until I learned more details about the backstory.
