...I just reminded myself of another Richard Cheese song that I prefer to the original [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRf8Fg0GFg8]:
Sataaaaaaaaaaan...
Priceless.
Ha, I played this song in my English class, "what music do you listen to" or some other crap. Surprisingly enough my teacher didn't appreciate it.

Ville Valo's version of Summer Wine is pure awesome.

Nirvanna Man who sold the world. Don't know the original band,
You sir, have just spoiled music for me... David Bowie did the original son! Just for the sake of being one of my favourite bands... it's Nirvana... not Nirvanna... that is all.

OT

Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit ** I too like better than the original
Disturbed's Land of Confusion > Genesis > In Flames
Never Gonna Give You Up - I Fight Dragons

Original is awesome too but...come on, Howard Jones just freaking rules.

I'm sure I could come up with more, given time.
I also love Aenema (Tool) by SAGE4, but I can't find a video where the quality doesn't suck.

EDIT: Gah, been ninja'd with a couple of these.
You... think that monstrosity of Fly Me To The Moon is better than Frank Sinatra!?

I know, I know! It's not the best song, but it's so fun and jumpy!
Plus, I'm not a fan of Sinatra. I always found his stuff boring, which is probably why I liked the dancey version better.

Terrible music taste? Perhaps. Proud of it? Indeed! :D

On the risk of being cried out a horrible, horrible person for saying this, but I admit, while the classic versio will always be an evergreen, this one just simply makes me smile a lot brighter whenever I hear it.

there could be a thread based around "take on me" covers.

Turn the Page - Metallica ... Bob Seger's is good, but Jimmy's vocals kill it.. in a good way :)
The Dead Heart - Alexisonfire ... Much more raw feeling than Midnight Oil's

Indeed. I also prefer Green Day`s version of Working Class Hero over the original and The Dead Kennedys had the best version of I fought the law.

say whatever you want about AFI (especially The Art of Drowning onward), but they did an amazing cover of Halloween by The Misfits. i wouldn't say i like it more than the original, but i like it just as much.

and Killswitch Engage's cover of Holy Diver by Dio. definately like KSE's version better.

(and now i wait for the hate)
