You have lost Karma for obliterating the heartfelt analogy.

You raise a good point, though,...I guess.

No, '06 was the Grand Canyon. But the Unleashed hiking shoes and spelunking cord aren't going to save him from the Black Knight. Yeah, I'm not confident that this game's gonna be a smash hit. It's safe to say that Arthurian legend has been done, and Sonic doesn't need to go anywhere near it anytime soon..
Then again, I got Secret Rings for my birthday two months ago. I've not played it because I don't like the idea of Sonic running though a story book.

Heart murmurs for the Hedgehog.

Unleashed was just as bad as Sonic 2006.

Aww, you're not a hateboy too, are ya?!

Unleashed is much better in quality than '06. For the aforementioned point of mine that '06 was programmed with repeated collisions between the programmers' forehead and their keyboards.

Unleashed isn't perfect, but it's playable, which is more than I or you or anyone can say for '06. That ALONE makes it better.

Ok, ok, back up a sec. WHY is Unleashed as bad as '06? Give me a list, a short one. I want to know your rationale on condemning this game so broadly, because you have, once again, failed to provide a reason thus far, concerning Sonic Unleashed.

-Horrible story
-Terrible game play (just because Sonic switched back to 2D for some levels doesn't mean the game play was any better.)
-Generic and bland environments
-Boring and dull characters

Both of games are terrible. I don't care if Sonic Unleashed is slightly better then Sonic 2006. It doesn't matter if one pile of trash contains slightly less garbage than another because at the end of the day they both belong in the dumpster.

I would hardly consider Sonic Unleashed to be a step up from Sonic 2006 because both of them were still poorly received. Thus the general perception of the quality of modern Sonic games has not changed.

That's much better. I can now understand. That is the only request I have. I think your way of putting it as 'trash pile' is a little extreme, but then, I would.

Well. You and the other nay-sayers can hate the games as much as you want, and I and the other fans will enjoy and play theirs as much as we want. I looked up and read the edit from Itsme, and maybe some of my feelings on the subject are out of sympathy for the fact that Sonic was cornered in a dark 3D-rendered alleyway and mugged for his quality and respec-- ...sorry, I'm going into Analogy Mode again.

That is all from me. Thanks for clearing that up. Just try to not stand on our toes in your business, and we'll try also.

Huh. This started with me commenting on the difficulty of the DLC, and it's turned into a generic war.

Interesting.

Most threads on Sonic are bound to degenerate into this sooner or later. Nothing says "flame bait" like Sonic.

I still find it odd that people don't react this way about other recognizable game characters that degenerated into crap, like Spyro. Then again, he hasn't been arond as long.

I really liked the environment and the scenery.
Sure i've seen it before, but the idea that some insane architect
built a city based on the idea that an anthropomorphic hedgehog will be running
through it is really kind of entertaining IMO.

Poor Spyro! He was awesome before Sierra got their hands on him! Why did you abandon him, Insomniac?!

Of course! It was so obvious! I still didn't see it, but I was seeing it for years!

Ok, show of hands, how many posts in this thread until the flamethrowing started?

...Oh, Internet Kraken at Post #4. Kraken is the flame pioneer of this thread.

They didn't build it upon the idea of a Sonic game. They built it upon environments that have worked well in other games and merely inserted them into a Sonic game.

This is why you always stick to the Wii version when playing Unleashed. Dimps is a lot more competent than Sonic Team when it comes to level design.

EDITZ:

Before anyone starts, I just have one thing to say. Stop fucking bashing Sonic, you trolls. (I'm looking at you, TsunamiWombat.)
..I...what? I don't even remember talking about Sonic. I think all of my responses in any Sonic thread have been one sentence witticisms Of course, now... The gauntlet has been thrown.

Sonic originally began as a simple concept. Sidescrolling platforming with power ups (similar to Mario), but with amped up speed and branching paths to up the 'style' factor. And this is essentially what sonic should be, a stylish platformer like Prince of Persia just with most of the combat removed and branching pathways. Then they decided to market to tweens who enjoyed the cartoon shows- perhaps a legitimate strategy, but what you got from that is shallow fur faggotry, hackneye'd plot (not that the originals had much of a plot but it was the 16 bit era you made allowances for those things), and gimmicks. Fundamentally, Sonic is still the same thing it was when we were children but tarted up and loaded down with pointless gimmicks. The series has not aged well and Sonic Team should be focusing on translating the gameplay into a next generation experiance, not constantly trying to recreate their same success over and over again. This will never happen of course, because Sonic fans keep buying the games. Hey, I understand, I keep buying the DW games like an abused house wife because each time, I think Koei loves me and it'll be different. But you know what? It never is, i'm always left crying in a feotal posistion while Koei goes out to drink with it's buddies.

And in closing:

I agree with Wombat on that post, actually. I don't see the significance of the video (but I didn't see the video)

I can't say anything other than I agree, because I'm tired and I have nothing else to say.

Well, thank you, Captain Obvious. As if the title on the video didn't make that clear.

No, I joke. I know what the video is about by that title and the low-res still image, but I don't see the significance of it, still. I know what the whole thing is about. I just don't see the tie-in.

*shrugs*

I'm outta here, it's 1:25AM. Play nice, boys and girls.

I'm comparing people who relentlessly defend Sonic and attack his destractors to the Leave Britney Alone!! kid.

it also wasnt "hold boost button to win"
Yeah, now it's "waggle stick to win". The reason why that doesn't work is because your wrist would cramp up from painfully long (uh hur hur hur) Wiimote masturbation.
someone's never played the wii version
2 things:
1: you can play the wii version with a normal control stick
2: my point was that in the 360 version, if you watch any speedrun, they just hold down the boost button non stop
in the wii version you cant spam the boost because of the way it works, nothing to do with controls

next time, actually think before you make a stupid post please

Sega seems to make the mistake of long living game = extreme difficulty

Sonic Heroes "hard mode" was another example of this.

They're utterly oblivious to the fact that the game might just be bad therefore uniteresting, this just pushes the masses even further away.

It's sad, but true. If you make a thread about Sonic (or at least 3D Sonic, and that includes the Adventure games), it would either turn into a generic war, or just be spammed to death by older Sonic fans.

sonic unleashed is an annoying game if i cud
i would make a sonic game were the character runs the whole time with unlited lives and no traps to bother u
What the fuck? Are you serious? Unlimited lives would ruin the challenge really. And Sonic was always about fast paced running and jumping and avoiding traps.

Christ, I don't know why you'd even start this thread.
Anyone who's played that mode of Sonic without dying needs six thumbs.
Plus, you're multiplying this with my disappointment, because I thought someone fiddled around and made a Kaizo romhack for Sonic Advance or some such.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Sonic must die, the franchise is getting worse and worse and Sonic Team is more focused on quantity than quality and start to raise my hopes only to have me buy the first game they come out with every new console, they then fill my skull with acid and I can't take it anymore. It angers me that you would buy the down loadable content, since it would be only more of the same.

sonic should NOT die, he just needs to take a complete break of 2 or 3 years

and have you played unleashed? it was pretty decent
