I really don't care what happens I just want Modern Warfare 2. If Activision tanks after that I would not care. I just need Modern Warfare 2.Onmi said:Actually i'm more saying that for Activision it's not about the cost. it's about seeing how much influence on the business they have and since Sony is in last place it makes for a good target.gof22 said:They may lose Sony but still would be making money through Microsoft, Nintendo, and the PC.Onmi said:I'm sure many guitar hero gamers would throw a fit about having to move to rock band to play Sony licensed songs.gof22 said:I am pretty sure many Sony gamers would be mad they couldn't play Modern Warfare 2.Jumplion said:What independent game companies are thinking of stopping support? If Sony makes a move against Activision if they stopped support, it would show that they are not to be fucked around with. And even then, it would be stupid for a company like EA or Konami or Capcom to move out of Sony just because Activision tried (and would hypothetically fail) to cut support. The PS3 is still a machine they can make profit off of, I highly doubt Activisions hissy fit would do much.
I said it before that Activision pulling out is a dumb move for them, they stand to lose a share of the market by opening the door the competition and locking out content for one of there main franchises.
E.G. People would just play Skate, Rock Band and one of many many MANY FPS games instead of buying the Activision stuff that wouldn't be available. On top of that this is just an Activision Power play to see HOW much influence they have in the business. Sony is responding in the correct manner "We are not afraid of your threats so go ahead and try" Activision realizes that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo wont budge for them and that they have no real power.
fairly simple business really.
Modern Warfare 2 if hypothetically not released on the PS3 will still bring in a good amount of money from the 360 and PC versions. They would lose a lot from dropping Sony but still function through Microsoft, Nintendo, and the PC.
I am just stating my opinion on the matter. No one needs to be hostile about it.
There is nothing to gain from dropping Sony and everything to lose, the loss outweighs the gain so it makes no sense business-wise unless your attempting a Power Play. Too put it in terms all of us probably get whenever one of our parents asked us to do a job and we said "Well I want this first, you can't expect me to keep doing jobs" and (if your parents had backbone) they went "go ahead and try, if you don't like it leave"
Activision is the Child in this case saying "so it my way" and Sony is the parent saying "You don't like it well then leave"
Makes me wonder though if it was Rockstar instead of Activison how things would progress.
