Money is only given for innovation under the assumption that money comes back. Am I wrong?
Well absolutely any development to do with space exploration says hi.
But I agree about the whole everyone capitalizes on everything view, but R&D isnt always for money, money is more of a bi-product the way I think of it. For example, quantum computing advancements have much greater implications for developing science and humanity as a whole than it does for "Apples new iPad 5 with Intel Quantum inside!"

Yes, please. Go ahead and kill the company, we need more salt in the wound.
Accualy, forget the salt and bring the fucking acid.

It's like the ENTIRE FREAKING WORLD forgot what the word HACKED means.

I would seriously considder hacking the dickfaces doing this and then sue them over not being 100% hack proof, if you know, I didn't have anyting else to do.
Agreed. I think the hacker/s should be brought to justice - you know, it occurs to me that there is/are probably some hacker/s out there who were gonna 'anonymously' (cough) claim credit for the PSN outage etc, except that they must have realised by now how much everyone affected by both the outage and the potential identity theft must hate them right now...

I agree that it is unfortunate that Sony's security has been breached, but before I gather my torch and pitchfork, I would like to know whether it was some laxity on Sony's part (which I can't imagine, given the consequences of a security breach), or whether it was just some particularly talented (although I hate to use that word in reference to whichever waste of oxygen did this) hacker - perhaps one with some inside knowledge, even.

Wooooowww, this could really be bad. Though, it might be refreshing to see a large corporation take a hit for once. Still, I'd rather not see Japan take a hit in this trying time.

jeez, way to go guys, let's all attack the japanese company that's shutting down its factories for the summer to conserve energy so any hope of the ngp gets pushed away even further and forget the ps4. what is anonymous trying to prove anymore? that they're a**holes? I think it was pretty clear from the start. and now i have to cancel my credit card AND not have access to psn for fear of some idiot hacking them again. all this just has to stop or sony just wont be able to keep making games for us anymore, is that what people want?

Wow the problems are really starting to pile up for Sony, I wonder how long it will take before I start feeling sorry for them.
How about now? See, the industry was build on competition between companies. Now, While Wii did get an headstart, Xbox had a few year to bust out some exclusive Sony lack behind. Today's market is pretty much divided between Xbox and PS3, with Wii barely catching up behind. If Nintendo and Sony cannot compete with Xbox... Bad thing will happen.

ohh your fucking kidding me. people, i beg you. stop being greedy little assholes and get a damn life!! oh waaaah, i had to spend a whole hour changeing my name and password, oh WAAAAAHH i had to call the ban kan dexplain my card was compromised, and to change my information. oh WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH some asshole in cybersapce knows my name is Erik Drew and i live somewhere in canada. i think im going to go sue the company now cuz im a self entitled money grabbing little shit.

seriosuyl people. stop it. just stop it. if a BANK got hacked and your moeny was stolen do you sue the bank? no. the bank uses its insurance payoff to replace any stolen merchandise, and will change your banking information around if that was stolen too. STOP BEING SO PATHETIC

and to the lawfirms i say, stop encourageing people. its you assholes who allowed people to file a lawsuit agaisnt mcdonalds cuz they got fat. its you lawfirms who allow people to sue a hospital if they slip on the ice within eyesight of said hospital.

AND ITS YOU LAWFIRMS WHO LET PEOPLE SUE TIMHORTONS, CUZ SOME JACKASS GOT HOT COFFEE ON HIMSELF!

call it a hatefilled rant, or sony fanboyism, or whatever but i dont blame sony. hackers will break in to ANY system no matter how secure. im not personally harmed by it. and i keep a shotgun under the bed, so any late-night visitiors get a warm friendly reception. so THERE.

I remember talking my dad into using his credit-card so I could play Halo 2 on Xbox Live. he was worried that the "internet pirates" would get his card-number, and I laughed at his stone-age perception of software-protection. I explained how Microsoft was the largest software company in the world, and that its protection would also be the best in the world. After calling up Xbox-live Customer Support and having THEM explain it to him, I still did not get to use it..I actually got my own credit card (odd logic from a parent, but hey, whatever floated his boat).
Now, I know that this is PSN and not Xbox Live, but I can't avoid thinking that "Had this happened back then, I would never, ever had gotten to play Halo 2 Online, and I would still hate my dad for it, despite it being full of teabagging douchbags".

I feel for all the kids that might have suffered due to this.

At least Sony will be motivated to beef up their security. I just hope other companies also follow SUIT

Don't worry guys, Phoenix Wright is on the case!

OT: I really hope they catch the hackers in this case, and sue THEM to oblivion
So if Sony were criminally negligent you don't think they deserve to be sued?

Why the hell not?
Because the 15 minutes it takes for any smart person to go cut up their card to make sure their identity is not stolen as a result of this, is not worth running a company into the ground, with the reprecussions of their absence in this industry being far worse.

You left your front door unlocked last night. As a result, burglar stole a copy of a game you borrowed from a friend. That friend is now sueing you for your whole fucking house.
