I never said system sales where down, they have increased in the last year. Game sales however have been going down. This isn't a hatred for Nintendo, I know they make the higher quality games for the system. However, the system is flooded with $20 "wack-a-mole" budget games that outsell the high-end high-cost production games. This is because the majority of Wii purchasers are parents who by the system for their children, and are the ones who buy the games. They would rather spend $20 than $50. Because of this major third party game developers have decided to stop making games for the Wii since they lose profit on making them. In my retail store, of all video games for all systems, Deer Drive for the Wii is the #1 selling game. Nintendo might end up being one of the few companies making quality games for their system. In the end the hardcore gamers for the Wii will see a decline in quality games. To be honest I fear for the gaming industry as a whole. With Sony's motion controls as well as Microsoft's kinect, They too will be flooded by budget games.Kwil said:Of the games sold last week, 3 of the top 5 were Wii games. 5 out of the top 10, and 8 out of the top 20. No other platform comes close.Zer0Saber said:I don't think sony or microsoft have to worry about nintendo any more, with game sales dropping and publishers pulling out, the system king might burn out soon.
Not to mention that the weekly sales of Wii software were up 3%.
