Fine by me, I care not for this 3D gimmickry. I shall stand by my opinion that until 3D can be used as a viable aspect of game mechanics and be used by developers to create new methods of playing a game instead of "because we can", it will remain a superfluous and gimmicky feature. If devs can use 3D in actual game design and as an integral aspect of the game then more power to them, but we know that more often than not devs will just use 3d because they can and not bother finding ways of augmenting it.

There are plenty of ways of making the PSP a better system, it doesn't need to be bogged down by features like this if they add no real value to the overall game. I've experienced 3D and it's nothing special, it was a fad over a decade ago and it's a fad now, do something interesting with it and maybe then I'll care. I don't need that junk in my portables, the PSP should focus on more important aspects to enhance gaming in a meaningful way, and 3D isn't one of them.

This all just leads me to believe more and more that there is not going to be a PSP 2 and, if there is, it's going to be last years semi-decent ideas at best. I could almost guarantee that if they do make it it still won't have dual nubs, and is that really so much to ask for?

The PSP is a fine device and can handle graphics that are just as good as the 3DS, if not better. People assume that because the PSP hasn't sold 100 million units that it failed. In fact, quite the opposite is true. 61 million units sold is nothing to scoff at and solid software continues to be released every year.

3d is lame anyway. For all systems. Its not that Nintendo is ahead of them because sony already has 3d games so they beat them to the finish line but the 3d is stupid. It hopefully will be a passing fad.
Warren Spector disagrees [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101676-Warren-Spector-3DS-Changed-My-Life].
Lol. I already read that. As i said on the Forum there. It must have been a shitty life if 3ds changed it.

Also who is Warren Spector?
The "changed his life" isn't the point. The point is, one of the most influential game designers of all time used to think that 3D was a fad until he saw the 3DS. If his opinion can be so drastically changed, maybe it's time to rethink your utter dismissal.
I don't know who he is. I understand the whole "Changed My life" but maybe he should have worded it better. Because a Life Alter Change is HUGE. Maybe i just don't understand the point of it since the only Life altering thing i have ever had was my guitars but thats a little different.
Maybe you should stop being so narrowminded. Yes, the guitar changed your life, great. Is it so hard to think that someone whose life revolves around making videogames saw something that changed his perception on how he makes games? Ergo, changed his life?

Jump-out 3D is a retarded gimmick no one can do right anymore. It failed when they did it in Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves and the massive influx of 3D movies in recent times. We certainly don't need games to be infested with dysfunctional 3D graphics that render them unplayable without your glasses that don't even give you a good experience.

Well I support there decision, and hell they call still sell 3-D movies on the store to the PSP since it has that TV hook-up feature. I just hope they NEVER make something with a name a stupid as the PSP2 and just keep making updated versions with new features.

EDIT: Oh My God! My thousandth post! Finally!

We just chose to focus on the big 3D in the home."

Sony has been acting very stange lately... They say they're pleased with the competition and now say they aren't going to challenge them?

Sony... What tricks have you got up your sleeve, you sly devil?

I really don't see what they'll want to do with 3d even if it was on the new PSP. They just need a bunch of high quality games exclusive to the system ( God of War: Ghost of Sparta is the right idea) and it won't matter, but that is probably never going to happen.

Sony Nixes 3D For Next PSP

Sony has no plans to imitate the Nintendo 3DS and won't be incorporating 3D into the next PSP.

Sony might have been pleased by the 3DS [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101501-Sony-Pleased-By-Nintendo-3DS] but has no plans to use a glasses-free 3D screen for the PSP's successor. For now, it looks like the company will be focusing on 3D games only for the PlayStation 3.

In an interview with Industry Gamers [http://www.industrygamers.com/news/sony-very-confident-in-ps3-move-following-e3/2/], Sony Worldwide Studios VP Scott Rohde was asked if the company would add 3D technology into the next PSP and he replied: "No, no plans for that ... We just chose to focus on the big 3D in the home."

This makes sense considering Sony CEO Kaz Hirai amazing lineup [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101514-Sony-Boss-Talks-Down-Handheld-3D], but Nintendo's future darling handheld looks even cooler than expected.

Sony seems to be in danger of falling even further behind in the handheld space and hasn't even done anything with touchscreen technology yet. What will the PSP2 do, when will it be announced, and is there even one in the planning stages?

In regards to these questions, Rhode said: "It's just not something we're announcing right now. It's just as simple as that. It's all I can tell you." A waiting game it is.

I meant in general. I've been gaming since the nintendo first came out. In fact, i was born the very same years. That sh*t is new. I've been through many systems and even Sega didn't dish them out so fast. I know that it take about 5 to 6 years before they can fully use the full potential of a console, find the quirks and push it to the limit. They didn't even make it that far and still 5 and 6 "model" of each game console has been out. Call me a old timer for all i care... but i'm not a young dumbass gamer that will buy the "new toy" every f'in E3.
