If that space in the middle is for dual thumbsticks, then this thing is FTW and I hope to hell it smacks Idiotphone back into its place! Damn hippie hardware can't even make a halfway decent phone call and got the nerve to say its a better platform than psp, yea ok whatever helps you sleep at night.

somehow I think that sony will go with verizon with this since they want to compete with the iphone and the best way to do that is to go with the best cellphone company on the market.
i sure as hell hope so, or be a universal type phone. i have verizon and i would hate to see at&t get this one. i mean, their service is shitty so they do need as much help as they can get, but still, playing god of war while texting my girl and not even having to pull anything else out, that shit would be awesome.

Still no second stick, I see...

Although, the Society of Codenaming Cliches may want to have a word with Sony, as the names of grecian gods are reserved for futuristic superweapons only. In particular, "Zeus" is only allowed for orbital lasers, I believe.

Calumon: So I can call people while playing on LittleBIGPlanet? Awesome!
Sorry Calumon, but unless you can play a psp that is near or on your eye, and especially with your tiny arms (don't hurt me) I don't see that happening.

Alternatively you could have a bluetooth, then again the sound from the game would have to mute out

OT: firstly where are the numbers? Unless it's a TOUCH SCREEN!!!!!
or you use the direction pad, which is less exciting.
OR IF YOU USE THE ANALOG STICK IN THE FASHION OF OLD PHONES (you know with the turning and watching the dial rotate back...yeah)

The only game systems that I've been playing lately are my android mobile (G2) and my PSP (specifically, the SNES emulator).

So, yes, this would be awesome (assuming that it comes with the stock android UI, is offered on T-mobile, and is out in 2 years when my new contract expires).

Persona 1 + 3? Disgaea 1 + 2? Power Stone Collection? GTA: Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories? God of War? All those PS1 games from the marketplace, like Spyro and Crash? On a phone.

[HEADING=2]FUCK YES, I'D BUY A PHONE THAT PLAYS PSP GAMES![/HEADING]

And a DS/Phone hybrid would be even nicer for my gaming needs, if likely to be ugly and awkward to use.
I'm glad you have some enthusiasm with it, but as much of a Sony fanboy I am (eh, more of a Ps3 fanboy, but that's beside the point) I can't help but shake the feeling.

Does this look familiar? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-Gage]

I hope that if this rumor is true that it won't go the way of the N-gage. It'd be a damn shame if Sony was kicked out of the handheld race and all we'd have would be "kiddie", rehashed DS games and short, watered down iPhone games (I don't really think that, just setting an example). I don't care what people say about the PSP, it's a damn fine system if you have games yo uwant for it, and losing competition in this competitive industry is pretty much a bad thing in my book.

Oh well. We'll see...

Im with Seraph on this one...

Battery life is a huge concern, current psp go only gets 3-6 hours battery life so what are
we going to be looking at here while you are running 3G ,surfing the internet, answering calls and playing games.

Apples Crappy games appeal to a wide audience as previously mentioned because they are easy to pick up and put down. Are casual gamers ie: Soccer moms, your dad, bored middleaged executives sitting in airports etc.. going to want to play persona 3 or GOW... i guess not ... especially when you are charging over $30 for most games while an Apple iphone game costs between $0.99 and $10

Sony are hoping to be the mobile gaming platform of choice for Apple gamers wanting to take the next step into gaming

I call doomed to fail.. to late to the party..to late to care...yet again sony

Well given my experience with the android software I would get one of these, on the condition that it used said OS.

Strangely enough, if I ever wanted a cellphone (and I don't; I find having to listen to people making phonecalls in public exceedingly obnoxious), my only interest would be in one that you make phonecalls with.

I don't want one that connects to the internet or takes photos or plays music or you can play video games on, it's a telephone.
How is the past? Is it fun? Would you also like to get rid of indoor toilets because they take up floorspace? Or possibly pension services because it costs money that could be spent on other services?

I repeat: It's a telephone. It's something used to communicate with. Anything beyond that is irrelevant and superfluous.

If I want to play video games; I'll bring my DSI. If I want to take pictures, I have no fewer than two cameras. If I want to check my e-mail or go on the internet, that's why I payed for a computer.
Yet somehow this argument still does not counteract my point that you seem to be against innovation and progression. In case you didn't get what I meant, pensions and indoor toilets were things we didn't used to have, and that people said were unnecessary.

If this comes to AT&T, I will chuck my iPhone out the nearest window*

*[sub]Assuming I haven't already chucked it out a window because the thing is a slow-ass piece of shit...[/sub]

I'd look into it if I didn't already have a PSP, and if I didn't need to get a new phone today. Unless it can stand up to other smart phones, it'll be a hard sell to consumers who already have some kind of PSP, or could get one cheaper.

Innovation and progression is one thing; pointless innovation is another. Would you mount a television in your bathroom? How about a refrigerator on your lawn mower?
How is combining devices thus reducing overall weight and space needed to carry them pointless?
