each represented person will get like $1000 to replace their PS3, the rest of the $49,000 is obviously going to the folks actually representing these 100 ppl duh!. XD

Never had any issues whatsoever. NONE.

Not a single freeze (unlike say Fallout 3 or Dragon Age which is like once per hour).
Not a single hiccup.

Experiences may vary of course.

OP: That's an outlandish claim. While I would love $50,000, the value is really less than $1000. Unless legal bills are factored in, in which case it'd be what, $2000 at most?
Just because you didn't have issues doesn't mean other people didn't.

That said, the damages they're seeking are outrageous.

The only reason they should demand that much money is if after the PS3's bricked, they pumped out poison gas.

Other than legal fee's, I can't see any good reason for asking for that much money.

I'm honestly scared. Sony doesn't even recognize PS3s in Argentina so if it bricks, it's a new one. And they don't cost US$300 like in the US. You gotta pay the equivalent to US$461 to get one...

Anyways, does it say anywhere about the TIMES these people have played the game? I mean, if they spent 10 straight hours non-stop, it's no wonder it bricked.

No, the poisonous gas only gets released remotely by Sony executives if you have learned too much and become a threat to their master plan.

OT: I'm all for wanting a replacement. I'm sure companies might be kind enough to do that, but seriously? Suing that much for this? That's fucking ridiculous.

My PS3 didn't die but FFXIII killed a little piece of me so, I think I'll throw my name into the pot and see what I can get from Square.

I'd have thought the idea was that more and more people with the issue would join the lawsuit, so that the $5,000 lowers to something more realistic like $500

I have no idea what people are whining about, I been playing it non-stop for a week and nothing happened.

Some people just wanted the money I guess

You mean ten gold ones? This is silly. Blame surely must lie with Squeenix, for designing software that kills consoles? I don't see how Sony could pre-empt that.

Or their fault for not getting a warranty. That's kinda, well, retarded.

i am calling bullshit the FF13 had anything to do with the ps3 issues, i am sure these guys purposely left the game running which their ps3 in a location enclosed or vents blocked the caused the heating issues.

The terms, on the other hand, are a bit less reasonable. The suit, which claims to represent over 100 PS3 owners, is seeking $5 million from Sony and Square-Enix in damages. So ideally, the plaintiffs are seeking approximately $50,000 per person, when the cost of a PS3 (and FF13) is $660 - at most, if you got the PS3 when it was first released.
That's not how class-action lawsuits work John. Other people are encouraged to join in (the more people, the more of a case they have), effectively reducing everyone's piece of the pie. The one thing about lawsuits is you have to name your price, then sue. You can't sue, then pick how much you want to receive.

It sounds like a problem that should have never occurred in the first place. In my opinion its probably the hardwares fault, seeing as the game works fine on the 360 and I find it hard to believe that Square Enix would make a game that would render the PS3 inoperable. A weird situation though.

This isn't going anywhere and by some idiotic chance that it does at least hit a trial they plaintiff's will not be rewarded that money and if they are then people should be executed in the judicial department for allowing such a thing.
I'd guess they're hoping to settle, cause a replacement PS3, refund for the game that bricked it, a bit more for time/inconvenience of dragging it through court, plus court and lawyer's fees shouldn't tally up anywhere near that mark.

They seek retarded numbers so it'll get appealed down to the 660 a person, instead of starting at 660 and getting appealed down to crap.
