I only notice most of games when someone makes a big deal out of them, or people show them to me. I do keep track of my favourite series (namely Blizzard and Valve) I dont need to know theres hundreds of games being released cause I probably wont play them or give a shit about it. I discovered many games just by hearing people talk about them. Cause you know why? Cause probably I am to busy playing games/study/hanging out to care about what is going on the gaming scene. And I have been gaming for over 14 years now.

By following this thread I've learned three things:

1. PS3 Fanboys really are that bad.
My best friend owns a PS3 and he absolutely, positively refuses to acknowledge any flaws the console/the software library has. If anybody says anything other than "The PS3 is the greatest gaming console--nay, the greatest piece of technology--known to man and it has games that are so good all other games should just shrivel up and die" he's on them like a rabid wolf on a stuck pig. I thought he was unique. I was wrong. I'll make fun of the Red Ring of Death all day long. I'll listen to other people make fun of it. The 360 is my system of choice but it's not perfect. No piece of technology is. That's what happens when you're not a fanboy: you can acknowledge weaknesses.

2. Nobody wants their feelings hurt.
Because forum posters have to preface everything they say with "In my opinion," and conclude it with "...but I could be wrong." Also, one must fully acknowledge the primacy of an object in question and admit they simply refuse to acknowledge said object's primacy, lest anyone be accused of thinking something is better.

3. I don't want a PS3.
The PS3 has many good games, exclusive or otherwise, but from where I'm standing when you stack up the offerings on both consoles--both retail and online--the 360 edges out. Just because something is inferior doesn't mean it's bad. However, the PS3 is not worth its price tag because of its software library. If the price went down, I might get one, but now I won't even it dropped down to $50 with a $250 rebate: I don't want to be a fanboy or thought to be fanboy.

The arguments are ultimately trivial and pathetic, but face it: this is what fans do. Are you yourself a sports fan, or do you at least know many? They will argue until they die about how great their team is, how all the other teams suck, and how anybody who disagrees just doesn't know sports. It's typical. The really dedicated ones will ignore any facet of reality at all and stand firmly behind their team's primacy no matter what the actual performance is: that is a fanboy. There is a distinction in my mind. A fan is dedicated, enthusiastic, and stubborn; but they are willing to face reality when reality is shoved in their face. A fanboy lives in their own little world kept nice and tidy by their delusions. They refuse to admit weakness and defend the indefensible.

Remember back when Sony changed their ToS to state that any player-created content made with their games, from Guitar Hero: World Tour to LittleBigPlanet, is property not of the gamer who made it, but Sony? Remember that?

The 360 is not without its fanboys and the Wii doesn't even need them, but I have to say: from my experience the PS3 fanboys take the cake.

There is no SPECIFICS it will be PS3 or just 360 and PC,but it still opens up the option for debate.

Regardless the original point being debated (will Mass Effect 2 be Multi-Platform) is confirmed as Yes, because it is definitly coming out on the PC.

A game may not cater to your preference, but it hardly makes it a bad game. I hate platforming arcade games like Ratchet and Clank, reguardless though it still is a great game as it does what it is meant to for that genre. I could hate FPS', but that doesn't instantly make the sh*t, just means I, as all humans do, have preferences.
Somehting like Ocarina of Time did exactly what it should have done for that genre and more, therefore it is a good game.

The PS3 isnt worth the price. I would only ever consider it in a few years when it goes down in price and the game list is alot beter.

Maybe if it was a little lower and was actually worth the money i might have considered buying one. It was a good concept on paper but when it was made it really wasnt that appealing. Sony made a huge loss last year in sales and the whole idea just went downhill from there.

Who really cares that the PS3 has a Blu-Ray player, personally i couldnt care less.
The price for the console itself is too much.

As for the lineup of games the exclusives arnt really anything to get excited over.
I could probably think of maybe 2 or 3 games i would actually want to get one the PS3.
Lack of games, they spend too much manafacturing the console, they are making a loss on the console anyway and there pumping there funds into advertising so really there just losing money from the PS3 and dont really have anything to gain. There losing more than they are actually getting back.

They bought it out at a bad time and didnt think it through. I think il stick with the trusty PS2. Good console, reliable and a good selection of games.

Also as well online play is free on the PS3. surely they are making a loss on that too. I mean the XBL subscription fee is there to keep it running and obviously gain money from it. The wii isnt so bad as they are racking in the cash. But Sony just handing out online play for free isnt really doing them any favours.

Its why i ended up buying a 360. I felt like i got something better and more of a bargain for my money.

"Don't expect to play Zeno Clash on any old computer, either: just because you could happily run Crysis on Medium-low settings a year ago doesn't automatically mean you can play Zeno clash on any display setting in the world today."

I'd believe it if they weren't using one of the lightest modern FPS engines around and if the game looked more technically advanced than Crysis. I have no idea where the hell they're getting that from.

I'd like to point out to people who think the Ps3 doesn't break that there has been a huge amount of complaints (id think nearly reaching the red ring level) stating their Ps3 lasers are burning out (nearly all the time out of warranty...coincidence? ) and that includes my girlfriends Ps3 which burnt out last week (out of warranty. The only reason this isnt all over the place is cause Sony has denied it outright without even saying "yea we will take a look",

they don't care!

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy of the 360, but from a consumer point of view the 360 is a much better option for a lot of reasons!
