How in hell does a Copy Clerk know how to do that...

Meh. That is all I say. Why should I care, anyway, it is irrelevant.
Know how to do what? Link to an article?
Yeah, I fail at html...

I've never not had everyone I know playing video games, so this "bringing it into the mainstream" fiasco seems like just an ego boost for the companies. If they're referring to one system that everyone has regardless of console wars, then yes the PS2 is probably the first to achieve it, and no gamer I'm aware of even owns a wii since theres nothing to do with it.

Ah, well, I've used other forums before. I used BBCode, not HTML. There should be some handy guide around here somewhere, let me see... yeah, here you go [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/markup_help.php]. Funny, I use tags, which that guide doesn't mention support for. Says it's supposed to be [link]...

Pac-man made arcade gaming mainstream, and the arcade industry is dead. The Commodore 64(the best selling computer of all time) made home computer gaming mainstream, and Commodore is defunct. The NES made console gaming mainstream, Super Mario Brothers was the best selling console game of all time until Wii sports. The gameboy made hand-held gaming mainstream, and the DS is continuing that tradition in terms of sales. Sorry Sony, your dominance was just two generations, two great generations, but nothing more.
Well said. Nintendo has been in the business since the Arcade Age, and they're the only company from that era left. Currently, Sony and Microsoft are Nintendo's only rivals, and they were rather late entries to the industry, right?

How much did your huge multinational corporation net last quarter? Even Nintendo was built by a ruthless businessman who had no interest in video games.

Capitalists operating in the free market? what a crazy idea.
Capitalism will take any good idea and market it into the ground. - I bloody well forget who said it but that person was damn right

The current financial crisis was caused by unfettered capitalism. The death of Rock and Roll was caused by capitalism. Gaming still has some amazing things going on now but it will eventually be as bleak as modern music is today* thanks to capitalism.

Here's an idea: Rather than letting capitalists run free harness the hell out of them for the greater good. Oh wait I forgot profit will always be a higher value than compassion (for art, for games, for people)

*I absolutely love Modest Mouse but Rock and Roll died ages ago and I've read the obituary. If you think somehow the the landscape is pretty and colorful watch the disney channel during the day for a week and you'll see all the new Britney Spears and Hansens coming along nicely.

The Wii made gaming main stream, sorry.

My Ma would have never bought herself a PS2, she owns a Wii. The Wii is very simple in it's fun and that's why it is genius.

Though I own a 360, a Wii and a PS2.

In all honesty the PS2 is by far the best in my opinion.

Right Cause the Genesis and SNES we're just flukes for people who ONLY played the Master System and NES prior. & The Gameboy's Numbers we're just doctored for sales purposes.

Well, as a console, PS2 is better overall but even grandmas are playing with the Wii. You cannot compare the sales of these two systems, considering the 1st one is out ten years now. I was not a part of the SNES era so I do not know how that selled. Although, when PSone came out, all of my friends had purchased it. And I mean ALL of them. IMO, neither started the mainstream. The Playstation did.

Why hello there comrade, down with capitalism! It's evil it's satan if satan was a type of economy! I much perfer capitalism then communism or anything else, atleast in capitalism you can have good ideas then get paranoid about capitalism destroying it. If it was communism, they'd just shoot you. Either way I thought it was Yoko Ono who killed rock and roll...

*gets back on topic* Ahem. Well I do like it when gameing gets more popular. Doesn't really matter which console does it. I just wish it was this popular when I was in school. Then I could have been one of the cool kids. Like the Fonz! "Ey...*failed*"

But I guess nastaliga has racked my mind, I do miss the days when you saw more games comeing out for gamers, then wiifitters and drunken frat boys.

Ok, I'm not saying capitalism is inherently evil. It's just reeeally damn close. It's said love of money is the root of all evil. Capitalism is love of money with a degree in business.

Here's a concept: Try to build a healthy mixed economy* that doesn't over-specialize itself into death. Oh, right, that requires forethought and compassion.

*You could easily have an economy based on a socialist attention to needs and a capitalist attention to wants with art guilds protecting their craft from over-marketing by ad execs. Or did you want a planet run by the people who believed in the ruthless pursuit of profit over everything else?

Wooo escapist forums, SRS BSNS! Learn to take a joke please. I strongly believe in the balance of right wing and left wing ideals, that will never work because if one side just gets a little bit of an advantage, they'll abuse it to no end. But the saying that ruthless pursuit of profit, makes me just see greenpeace yelling about corporate greed, and I get a knee jerk reaction to that. Sure there is going to be competition between these corporations, and they're going to exploit those things but thats life. I'd rather live in a economy that had these things they can exploit then nothing at all.

You're absolutely right, I need to lighten the fuck up. Some topics I will never lighten up on. So long as unfettered greed masked as an economic system continues to exist this is one I won't lighten up on. I do get the joke, I'm just really brutal in my return. The current state of American economics is why, as a practicing Taoist Christian, I have no qualms what-so-ever with also being a practicing pirate and dick while I'm at it. The difference is, unlike Che Guevara, I'm not willing to be a mass murderer as well (not all commies are blood-thirsty)

As far as the left-right spectrum goes it's not just this wing or that, it's everyone. Every little group falls prey to power abuse. Some more than others. A lot of moderate Republicans are good folks who work hard to make things better but have no problem using their power to make sure they get paid well for their work. A lot of Republicans are greedy bastards (I'm looking at you Rush) who care for nothing more than lining their own pockets. Same for greenpeacers.

What pisses me off the most, however, is the fact that the American system could be massively improved upon if we weren't such arrogant bastards. Other countries have mixed economies that work well, why can't we? Oh yeah, because only American solutions are good enough for us. Every thing else is just that inferior foreign crap.
